Words Unspoken

Chapter Chapter Twenty

"Fuck!!!"

We all turned our heads to look at Ben. His hands slammed on the back of the passengers seat a few times. Krista and I gave each other a concerned look and we looked over at Kyle, his head in his hands as he shook his head a few times. I leaned my head back against the seat and closed my eyes rubbing my face with my hands.

Noah wasn't on that Prison Transport Vehicle, so where the hell could he have been? I tapped my fingers on my leg as I was lost in thought trying to figure out what our next move was.

"Okay, back to square one. We continue heading down to the capital. Our best bet is that Noah is there. Hopefully not in the prison yet." I said as I turned my head to look at the others. The looks on their faces said it all. They were slowly giving up and losing hope. No, not today. Noah was counting us to rescue him.

"Guys come on, we have to save him." I said as I looked at three of them. Ben and Kyle finally turned their attention to me. Krista was still staring out the window. No one was saying a word.

"I can't believe this, you guys are seriously giving up?" I said, disappointment in my voice. I looked at three of them and shook my head as I turned back around, arms crossed over my chest.

"No, no I refuse to give up. You guys can go back if you want, but I am not letting the guy I have fallen in love with rot in prison or get killed." I said. My eyes widened slightly at what I just said. The others looked at me with the same shocked expression on their faces. I couldn't believe I just admitted that I love Noah. But it was true, I couldn't hide my feelings for him anymore. He became one of the most important people in my life and I didn't know what would happen if I lost him.

"You love Noah?" Ben said and I looked over at him nodding my head.

"Well I'll be damned." Kyle said with a chuckle and let out a sigh.

"You're right, we can't give up." He said and I looked over at him and then at Kyle.

"Good." I said as we all finally settled into our seats. Krista put the car in drive and pulled out of the parking lot of the rest area.

"Okay, we have 5 hours until curfew. Let's try and get as far as we can before stopping for a motel." Ben said as we gave him a nod. I pulled out the map and opened it up as Krista drove down the road.

Noah may not have been in that prison transport vehicle, but he could be in a different one, we just gotta find the right one.

A few hours had passed while we were on the road. There was no sign of the trucks anywhere on the road. It was an hour til curfew and we finally found another motel. Hopefully no cops show up this time and we didn't have to worry about that. Ben and Kyle went to get us a room, while Krista and I waited outside by the car with our stuff and a lookout for the prisoner trucks. Even if we saw one now, we couldn't go far anyways due to the stupid curfew.

"Ben was pretty shocked to hear that you said you're in love with Noah." Krista said breaking the silence. I let out a chuckle and nodded my head.

"Yeah, I know. I told you a few days ago, I was falling in love with him. But, I guess it's official now." I said shaking my head.

"No, it's not official until Noah tells you he loves you, the two of you kiss and live happily ever after." She said with a chuckle.

"We're in the middle of a rebellion, there's no time for starting a relationship."

"Uh hello, me and Ben? After I got recruited, Ben and I instantly clicked and it hit off. We didn't care that we were in a rebellion, as long as we had each other, that's all that mattered. Here we are, still standing. Still together." She said smiling. I listened to what she said and nodded my head slowly.

"I guess you're right." I said crossing my arms over my chest as I glanced up to see Ben and Kyle walk out of the main office.

"The guy was super slow, but we finally got a room." Ben said holding up the key. We all grabbed our bags and made our way to our room.

"Alright, same as last time. We take turns keeping watch, while some of us get some rest:" Ben said.

"I drove, so I'm sleeping first." Krista said as she plopped down on the bed. Kyle found his way over to the other bed and laid down. I sat down at the table the window and leaned back in the chair as I gazed out the window. I glanced over to see Ben sit across from me, he gave me a small smile and looked out the window as the two of us sat there in silence.

"So, you're in love with Noah." Ben said, which made me turn to look at him. He had a small smirk on his face and I rolled my eyes shaking my head.

"Yeah, I am. Is that so hard to believe?" I said, now crossing my arms over my chest as I raised an eyebrow slightly.

"No, it's not. But I'm guessing you told Krista way before you told me, or your brother." He said to me. I nodded my head slowly and glanced over at the other two who were fast asleep.

"Yeah, and I knew she wouldn't say anything." I said and he nodded his head. We sat there quietly just staring out the window. The four of us decided earlier it would be best if two of us were up keeping watch rather than one. My gaze flickered over to Ben, I could see how much pain he was. His best friend was taken. And he could be gone at any moment. We've been on the road almost two days, and we haven't gotten far because of the curfew. I just hope we get to Noah in time.

"We'll get him out." I said to Ben and he turned to look at me.

"He's my best friend, my brother. We've known each other since birth. Our moms were best friends." He said and let out a sigh as he looked back out the window. "I'm really glad he's met you." He said and turned to look at me. I raised my eyebrow to what he said.

"Really? Why?" I asked tilting my head slightly.

"I know he's got me, and Krista and Jill. I guess what he's been missing is someone like you." He said to me and I nodded my head slowly. Someone like me?

"What do you mean?" I asked as I leaned forward in my seat.

"I don't know, I can't really describe it at the moment, but you know how me and Krista are." He said and I smiled.

"Yeah, I understand that." I said with a soft chuckle. I let out a small sigh as I leaned back against my seat and looked out the window. It was now past curfew. The streets were completely empty, everyone probably rushed home so they weren't stuck out after curfew and I don't blame them.

My thoughts wandered back to Noah, where the hell could he be if he wasn't in that transport vehicle. Was he still in the courthouse? Did they move him sooner and we missed him? So many questions ran through my mind and I didn't have the answers for them.

"We're almost at the capital, Kyles gonna drive this time, but we're not stopping. We have to get there as soon as possible." Ben said to me and I nodded my head.

"So what's the plan when we get there? He could be already at the prison..."

"No, it's too soon. They have to be holding him somewhere." He said shaking his head as he rubbed his chin, I could see stubble forming on his face.

"Another courthouse?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

Ben shook his head and sighed as he rubbed his face with his hands.

"I honestly hope not. I think what we need to do first is find a place to hole up. We gotta find the prison, obviously, but we can't get there unless we find the vehicle that Noah is in." He said as he looked over at me.

"This is gonna be a lot harder than we thought." I said and he nodded his head.

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but we're gonna need guns, ammo, protective gear." He said as he stared out the window. It went quiet for a bit before he spoke up.

"We got this." He said not taking his eyes off the window and I nodded my head slowly. I turned my head slightly as I looked out the window, my eyes glanced over to one of the street lights that was flickering and then suddenly went out. I took in a deep breath and let it out before turning my gaze over to Ben and gave him a nod.

"Yeah, we definitely got this."
