Chapter 37
The path that led towards the training ground was surrounded by tall trees on both sides and there was a paved path that led the way, it took me ten minutes to reach the training ground. The training ground was this vast area that was surrounded by trees, and in the middle, I saw there were a group of men and women training in combat, and to my right, there were werewolves training to fight too.
I looked around a bit more before I spotted Walter training a group of teenagers, and if I didn't have Jace as my mate, then I guess I would have considered dating Walter. He was showing a boy how to do a roundhouse kick, and he was wearing only a pair of shorts, I can see the sweat glistening from his body, and there were a group of girls my age who were ogling at him, and I think he knows the attention that he has because he had a mischievous smirk on his face. His mate is going to be so lucky to have him.
I stood there near the treeline waiting for him to notice me since I most certainly don't want to get in-between all these werewolves in combat, luckily He looked in my direction and he smiled at me before he said something to a boy and jogged towards me.
“What brings the beautiful Luna to the training grounds?”
“Well, I most certainly didn't come to see you, so I guess you should get down from your high horse.” I retorted, and I gave him my best smile.
“You are very good at deflating someone’s ego,” Walter mumbled, he was tracing circles with his foot on the grass with a long face, and I laughed at his childish behavior.
“You know you should try to get a job in acting,” I said, and he glared at me before he straightened his posture.
“So, what brings you here?”
“I came to see Jace.”
“Oh, um, he is busy at the moment. He is in the dungeon interrogating the rogue that we captured.”
“Oh, but I thought I killed the rogue,” I said. The reason I wanted to ask this from Walter is that I was unable to ask it from Jace since he looked livid, I didn't know how he would have reacted.
“You killed one of the rogues. There were two of them, one stabbed Mike in the back and ran away, and the other tried to kill Elana and also you.” Walter explained.
“So, can I go and see Jace now?”
“I don't think he will be happy to see you in the dungeon, Iris.” Walter tried to discourage me from going there, but that only fueled my want to see him even more.
“Walter, I want you to take me to the dungeon right now,” I said in a firm voice and held my stance, and I saw conflicting emotions on his face before he sighed.
“Come on, let's go,” he said and started walking into the forest, and I was frozen in place when I realized that Walter didn't even argue with me. What has gotten into him?
“Are you coming or not?” he yelled from afar, and I quickly ran to catch up with him. We were walking in the forest, and there was no stoned path that would lead the way, and this was a bit disheartening because I won't be able to find the dungeon on my own. We were walking for almost fifteen minutes now and when I was about to complain that my legs are hurting, we reached a huge iron door that was being guarded by two guards.
“Beta, Um Miss. Hendrix,” they both said in union and slightly bowed their heads towards us, Walter nodded at them and pointed towards the dungeon, and they quickly opened the door for me.
“Come, let's go inside,” Walter said, and he went inside first, and I followed him. The dungeon was a stone-made building that was brightly lit and there was a desk with a woman who looked to be in her mid-forties typing furiously at the computer in front of her. “Beta, I thought you wouldn't be coming in here again since the alpha is down.” the woman said, and she looked at us with suspicion.
“I know, but the Miss. Hendrix
wanted to see the alpha. So could you please open the door?” he said in a monotone, and she nodded her head while I looked around the room which was surrounded by stones, and I couldn't find a door anyway.
"But Beta, I am sorry to question you. Is it okay if we let a human in here?" She asked Walter and that sort of hurt my feelings since Jace still hasn't introduced me to the pack.
"She was attacked by the rogue. And she wants to see if this is the rogue that attacked her." Walter said with a firm tone and the woman nodded her head before typing again on her computer.
Now, what door is Walter talking about?
A few seconds later, I heard the mechanical sounds of a lock, and then the wall that was right behind us moved to reveal a metal door with a keypad in it. And Walter went towards it and placed his thumb and once it scanned, the door opened to reveal a set of the staircase that was leading downwards.
“Come on,” Walter said, and he started to descend, I followed him and when I turned around, I saw that the door has closed again.
Wow, they have a very fascinating security system.
When we reached the landing, I saw two more guards bowing their heads when they saw us, and then we were walking towards another door and Walter scanned his thumb again, and the door opened and there were small rooms with iron bars on both sides and the room was poorly lit too, and when we started walking I saw that few of the cells were occupied and the guys inside it looked filthy with dried blood and when they saw me a few started to let out wolf whistles which caused Walter to growl, and he pulled me towards his side and all this while I was busy rethinking my decision to come down here.
“Okay, so before we go in, please tell me you are not afraid of blood and torture tools?” Walter asked me when we came to stand at a metal tool, and I can hear the sound of a man screaming and, Jace’s raised voice demanding answers I gulped a few times before I nodded at him, and from the look, he was giving me, I know that he was not convinced. But in the end, he held the door open for me and we went inside.
The room was made of concert and there was a table with bloody tools to my left and in the center, there was a chair with a man sitting on it and Jace was beating the living daylights out of him.
“Why did you bring her here?” Jace turned around and asked Walter when he saw me standing behind him. And when I was about to answer that it was not Walter’s fault, the rogue looked at me and smirked.
“Oh, if it isn't for the lovely Iris Hendrix. The luna of the blue blood pack.” the rogue said in a menacing voice, and he spits the blood that was in his mouth. And this caused a shiver to run down my spine, and all three of us looked at him in shock.
How did he know my name? And that I am the luna of this pack?
