Chapter 95
Something is different about Donovon, I don’t what it is, but I can feel it. He seems more like himself, it is like he got back his confidence which was missing from him for the past few days. He no longer looks clueless, everything about him oozes confidence and authority.
I am truly happy to see him like... back to being himself.
My body is almost healed, however, Fire is still slightly weak so I haven’t shifted in a few days but I know in no time I will get my wolf back. Strangely, I don't feel as tired as before, I am feeling more light like I am free from some kind of burden.
“Is there anything special which you want us to make for tonight’s pack dinner, Luna?” One of the packhouse cooks asks as she hands me the list of the dishes which are to be prepared for tonight.
“No, I think everything looks fine.” I smile as I glance over the menu, “Please, just make sure to make cake pops,” I add sheepishly which makes her stifle her laughter.
“Cake pops are always on the top of our list, as we know how much our Luna loves cake pops.” She lightly laughs and heads back inside the kitchen.
Donovon has called a pack dinner tonight, as he heard some of the pack members saying that it has been quite some time they haven’t done anything as a pack together. Even though it is not something big, but still it is enough to bring the pack to normalcy as earlier almost every month there used to pack gathering which used to give everyone an opportunity to spend time with fellow members of the pack and have some fun, while breaking the monotony of their hectic schedule.
The special thing about this pack dinner will be that this will be the first time Ella will meet everyone. This will be her first pack gathering, for which almost everyone is excited. Julia has already warned me to get prepared to get drown in gifts which they are going to bring for Ella as they got a reason to gift her.
My daughter is blessed to be around such a loving and caring pack.
“Luna!” Oliver runs towards me looking excited, “Come with me.” Without even waiting for my reply he holds my hand and drags me with him.
“Look, Alpha bought a cycle for me.” He points at a new cycle standing in front of the lawn with the biggest grin ever.
“Donovon?” I ask not knowing whom he is calling Alpha as he calls both Donovon and Arthur as Alpha.
“Alpha Arthur.” He stares at his cycle in awe, for some reason his expression makes me smile as this is the first time I am actually seeing him this carefree and happy.
“Wow! That’s so cool, Ollie.” I run my fingers through his hair, “So, do you know how to ride a cycle?”
“No, but I will learn it soon.” He smiles glancing at me.
“I will teach you.” Donovon’s voice shifts our attention to him as he approaches us.
“Really?” Oliver smile brightens even more.
“Yes.” Donovon nods his head and laughs when Oliver runs inside the house saying that he will tell Ella about his cycle.
I doubt that Ella will understand anything he will tell her, but this never stops him from sharing everything with her. He talks more with her than others, when he is around others he turns quiet and reserved. However, when he is with us or Ella he comes out of his shell.
“So, what’s going on?” Turning towards Donovon, I ask him.
“Nothing, why are you asking this?” He shrugs, as I try to find what’s different in him.
“I don’t know, you tell me, you are the one who seems different.” Crossing my arms over my chest, I raise my eyes to him.
A flicker of surprise passes through his eyes and my suspicion turns into a confirmation that something is going on.
“So?” My lips turn into a smirk as he sighs dramatically figuring that I have noticed that he is up to something.
“You will soon find out.” He smiles at me, and I am thankful he doesn’t try to lie to me.
Lifting my hand, I touch his hair and sad pout forms on my lips as I recall Wolfie’s soft fur. I really miss his wolf form, and there is nothing which I wouldn’t do to get him back.
“I miss Wolfie.” I let out a small sigh, as he loosely wraps his arms around my waist.
“Wanna meet him?” He rests his forehead against mine as he caresses my cheek.
Locking my eyes with him, I lightly nod my head half-heartedly because I want to see my Wolfie in his magnificent form. However, I keep my thought to myself as I don’t want to hurt his or Wolfie’s feeling.
He brushes his lips against mine kissing me softly, then I feel his smile pressed against my lips.
A mischievous smile forms on his face as abruptly he picks me up and starts jogging quickly towards the other side of the packhouse.
“Where are we going?” I quietly laugh while wrapping my arms around his neck.
“Somewhere special.” He grins boyishly, as he picks up speed.
He places me on my feet when we stop in front of an abandoned-looking cabin house, however, I don’t question him. I watch him entering the house through the window instead of the door causing me to raise my eyebrows.
“Come get inside.” He looks really excited, not wanting to ruin his excitement I follow him inside.
Honestly, even I am enjoying, being sneaky and all.
Before I have time to notice my surroundings my eyes widen when I watch him undressing himself.
“What are you doing?” I shriek and cover my eyes, which makes him laugh.
“It is nothing which you haven’t seen it before, mate.” He teases which makes me want to crawl somewhere and hide... forever.
However, I drop my hands away from my eyes and my heart thrashes wildly against my rib cage as my ears register a familiar sound.
