Chapter 79
Donovon is avoiding me like the plague. Okay, I am exaggerating a little bit, but still, this doesn’t change the truth that he is avoiding me.
Earlier, I tried to talk to him, not to convince him or something, but simply talk. But he didn’t talk much and focused on playing with Ella.
And here I would add Ella was sleeping. So yeah, he was playing with sleeping Ella.
Idiot.
Obviously, this irritated me and now I am not talking to him.
“Ivory.” He calls me when I am about to walk outside because I need some fresh air and also because I need to let out Fire. It has been a few days since I shifted into my wolf, and now I am itching to free my wolf.
Now he wants to talk when I am not in a mood to talk to him.
Not bothering to look at him, I roll my eyes as I continue walking forward.
“Stop! Where are you going?” He grabs my arm, halting my steps.
“Hands off, Donovon.” I glare at his hand and then lift my eyes to his face.
“Angry?” He leaves my arm, only to pull me towards himself by holding my hips.
Instead of replying, I push his hands away and turning on my heels I walk away from him.
“Ivory.” He quickly catches up with my steps.
“Stop bothering me!” I clench my jaws, “I just want to be alone.”
“And what are you doing here? Go and do whatever you want... or why are you not with Ella?” I can’t hide the annoyance from my tone.
I am not jealous of him spending time with Ella, but him avoiding me is what made me angry.
He licks his lip, looking unsure how to respond.
“Just leave it, Donovon.” I shake my head with an irritated sigh, “I am not blind that I will not notice that you are avoiding me. I have tried to talk to you so many times, but you just turned me down every single time.”
“My patience has reached its limit, and now I am not going to ask you anything or wait for you to get back into your sense.” I shrug, “If you wanted to talk to me you would have shared your worry with me, instead of behaving like an ass.”
“I get it you don’t want me to be around you, so I am just giving you and myself the much-needed space. So, now stay away from me.” I nod my head at him pointedly.
The look on his face shows how much my words have hurt him.
“Calm down, Ivory.” Micah glares at me, appearing literally out of thin air.
“I don’t need anyone to tell me what to do.” I glare back at him, “And you stay out of this. This is between me and Donovon, so don’t interfere between us.” I point my finger at him in a warning.
“I am not coming in between you two idiots.” He scoffs, “But I am not going to sit and watch when you are behaving like an ass with him.” Arching an eyebrow he throws my words back at my face which I have said to Donovon a few minutes ago.
“Micah.” Donovon places his hand on his shoulder and there is a warning underneath his word.
“This guy here is worried sick about you and you are just being a bitch.” He continues, anger etched on his face, “You have noticed that he is avoiding you, but have you seen how much this is hurting him?”
“He has lost his wolf, his memories... hell, his entire life has turned upside down. Even then he is thinking about you. So don’t try to hurt him any more than he is already.” He pushes Donovon’s hand away from his shoulder and takes a step towards me, “He asked me to mark you because he can bear to live without you instead of seeing you losing a part of your life every time you use your power. That much he loves you.”
A burning sensation swirls inside my chest and I feel anger rising in me when I turn my gaze to Donovon who is looking at me a solemn expression.
“You asked him to mark me?” I slowly ask Donovon, confirming what I have heard is correct.
“Out of all this, you only heard this part?” Micah throws his hands in the air.
“Answer me?” I ask Donovon, ignoring Micah.
Glancing down, he nods his head and my hand connects with his face at the same moment.
“What the hell!” Micah says looking horrified. “Have you gone out of your mind?!”
“Leave. Micah.” I order when my cold gaze meets his, he snaps shut his mouth and disappears glancing at me with anger.
“What do you think I am, Donovon?” I ask looking at him, “A thing... A possession? Or a whore? That you are ready to share me with him.”
“Ivory, watch your language.” His gaze hardens as soon as these words leave my mouth.
“Why should I? Because this how I am feeling at this moment.” I stare back at him with unrestrained anger and hurt.
He asked Micah to mark me, even without letting me know what is going on in his mind. I understand his worry, but this doesn’t give him the right to make a decision for me.
I just feel like for him my feelings don’t matter. Like he is ready to give me away to someone else like I am some kind of a thing.
“If you don’t want me to be a part of your life, then just say it.” I bite the inside of my cheeks, “I swear on Ella, I will never even show you my face.” Tears gather in my eyes, while my words hold nothing, but the truth.
“You are getting all this wrong.” He shakes his head and takes a step towards me... only for me to step back creating more distance between us, “I am just trying to do what is right for you.” He sighs defeatedly.
“I am not good enough for you.” He clenches his jaws, then after a moment his lips turn into a bitter smile, “I don’t have my wolf to protect you from your power. With me, you are just going to wither away.”
“Can’t you understand, without you, I am going to live a life which is going to be worst than death?” I swallow, trying to hold back my tears, “How can you wish something like this for me?”
“I don’t need your wolf, to heal me... your love is enough for me to survive.” Closing my eyes, I inhale a small breath as a few tears slip down my cheeks.
His arms engulf me as he holds me against his chest.
“I am scared, Ivory.” He breathes, tightening his hold around me, “I feel so helpless, that it is killing me. I am not capable of protecting you.”
“You are all I need, Donovon. With you I feel safe, you are my home.” Lifting my head from his chest, I glance at his face.
“I love you, Donovon. We can never be helpless if we are together. I will give you my strength, while you will be mine.” I hold his jaw as he leans into my touch, “Let’s make our love our strength and overcome all our fears, together.”
Leaning down, he captures my lips in a kiss expressing his unsaid words in a beautiful way.
“Mark me, Ivory.” He whispers against my lips, “I want everyone to know that I am yours... only yours.”
