Chapter 67
Donovon's POV
Anxiousness is bubbling inside me, while my eyes are trained on the door. The door which is separating me from my daughter and my Ivory.
A smile threatens to come on my face, as I think about them. I am desperate to meet them, but I know I have to be patient.
I couldn't stop myself from coming here when Wyatt told me they are coming here to meet them. I might be risking exposing myself, but I am ready to take any risk just to see the glimpse of my daughter.
I am hoping they bring her near the window, so at least I can see her from far.
The front door opens and I narrow my eyes to watch clearly, my eyes widen when Wyatt is taking quick stride towards the car with another guy. From the posture of the guy, he seems like a warrior as his eyes are continuously moving from one thing to another ready to eliminate anything which is even close to being a threat.
Wyatt quickly opens the backseat door and slips beside me, while I swallow a lump that is choking my throat as I notice he is not alone.
He unwraps his arms and my breath hitch in my throat as my eyes land on the face of the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.
"Dad you can spend the entire night with your daughter, as mama is sleeping." He smiles at me while I can't look away from her face.
Her eyes tightly shut with a cute dent forming between her eyebrows as her pink lip slightly puckered.
I hold my arms out while my hands tremble, I continuously blink my eyes to keep my vision clear.
He gently places her in my arms and the moment I hold her feeling of protectiveness stirs inside me, and I know as long as I am alive I will not let any harm touch her. I will protect her with my life.
"She is so small." I whisper as I bring her closer to me, "So delicate just like a flower."
She seems weightless to me, I can carry her in my arms for hours even then I wouldn't be tired.
Maybe I will never put her down, I will always keep her in my arms.
My heart stops when she opens her eyes and looks directly at me. Her bottom lip sucked in her mouth as she looks at me with an identical pair of grey eyes.
"Hi, beautiful..." Biting my lip, I try to hold back my tears, "I am your dad." I whisper while she innocently blinks completely unaware of the power she has on me.
No pull can be stronger than this... what I am feeling inside my heart.
I am sure if even that voice calls me at this moment, it will have no effect on me as I am under someone else's spell. My daughter has put me under her spell which more powerful than any spell in this world.
"She has my eyes." An involuntary smile curves the corner of my lips as I gently touch her cheek with the back of my finger.
"That's not the only thing which she shares with you." Wyatt laughs, as I look at him, and before I can ask what does he means my world stops right there in that moment.
Ella grips my finger tightly in her hand and my heart leaps out of my chest as she makes soft cooing noises.
"I guess, she wants her dad's full attention." Wyatt claps my shoulder.
"Here is her bag, it has a bottle of milk, some clothes, diapers." He places a pink bag at the front seat, "Figure yourself how to use all this stuff, as other than giving baby a bottle I don't know a thing."
"And I forgot to tell you one more thing that she can..."
"What the hell is happening to her?" I ask looking at her with terrified eyes, as she suddenly started shaking in my arms.
"What's happening?" I hold her against my chest, trying to shield her from every kind of harm as fear of something happening to her sends waves of pain inside my heart.
Maybe they are trying to hurt my daughter.
"There is nothing to be worried about." He shakes his head, his words ignites fury inside me.
"She is shaking feverously and you are saying there is nothing to be worried about?" I growl.
"Yes, it is because she is about to..."
My mouth hangs open in shock as just in my arms my daughter turns into a grey pup.
"Shift." He completes his sentence.
"How?" I softly ask while running my fingers through her fur.
While she snuggles closer to me, rubs her head against my neck as if she is rubbing her scent on me.
"I don't know how." He shrugs, "But what I know is that she is one moody baby. Good luck forcing her to shift back." He chuckles as he slides out of the car and shifts into his wolf then runs into the woods.
I notice the other guy is also in his wolf form and standing a little far from the car, fully alert like he is guarding Ella.
I glance down at Ella and smile as she is busy scratching the front of my hoodie with her small paws.
I kiss her head and scratch behind her ears as I look at her completed enthralled by her.
Her wolf is also grey just like mine.
Suddenly, the image of my own wolf starts to flash before my eyes... the image which was blur, gradually, becomes clear as I remember myself in my wolf form. A shiver runs down my spine tensing my muscles as I remember shifting into my wolf.
I can sense he is somewhere closer, but at the same time again I feel the hitting some kind of barrier when I try to reach him.
Frustration builds inside me as I am not able to feel my wolf, but a small growl instantly brings a smile to my face.
Ella is pressing her head against my hand, demanding me to scratch her head.
"Sorry." I chuckle as I scratch her head, then she plops down on her back in my lap exposing her belly and I start scratching her belly while she makes a soft purring sound.
"You have already wrapped your dad around your little paws, young lady." Holding her paw between my finger and thumb I place a kiss on her soft paw pad.
Just like Wyatt has warned, it took a lot of begging and belly scratching to force her to shift back. But then another struggle was to dress her up, because I was damn scared that I might end up hurting her because she kept moving her arms and legs. But finally, I managed and now she is quietly enjoying her bottle of milk.
My heart fills with so much peace... the kind of peace which I thought I will never be able to experience again in my life when I glance at Ella.
Her innocent scent warming my soul, while soft cooing sound making my heart flip in my chest.
She is just perfect.
Holding her hand, I count all her fingers while kissing them. Then I kiss her other hand's fingers. But she starts kicking my face when I kiss her feet which makes me laugh loudly.
Strangely, my heart is completely at peace... no worries... no distress... no fear of the future. But simply it is filled with contentment.
Just looking at her innocent face, I feel half of my problems have vanished.
Her eyes start to get droopy as she rubs her face with fists. Pressing her lips tightly, she starts to whimper which soon turns into a full-blown cry.
I begin to panic because I don't know why she is crying.
"Calm down, baby girl." I caress her head, "Dad is here... you are okay."
But she continues to cry.
However, when I hold her against my shoulder and gently pats her back her cries quieten down. Leaning back, I keep holding her as she seems to like to be held like this. Soon when she falls asleep I shift her in my arms.
I look back at the house, thinking whether I should ask someone to put her to her bed since she has slept. But then glancing at my angel's face, I decided against it.
Because I don't know when I will get a chance to meet her again, so I want to spend as much time I can with her when I have this opportunity.
Unzipping my hoodie, I gently hold her against my chest and zip up the hoodie so she stays warm as it might be cold for her outside. Placing my hand behind her head and the other on her back, I rest my head back and close my eyes.
Soon I drift into sleep while securely holding my Ella against my chest.
