Chapter 66
I knew I have to return here because I have to help him. But I couldn’t realize until now how difficult and tormenting is to come back to this place.
A few days back it was home to me, but now... everything has changed this place is no longer my home.
Before returning here, I clearly informed Wyatt that I will not be staying at the packhouse or in the pack. Because I am not going to let that Emma come anywhere near my daughter and also this is not the right time to let everyone know that Ella is alive.
She has to remain a secret until we don’t find the culprits and end them.
I can’t put her life to risk.
That’s why, even though it is extremely painful for me, but I chose to stay at my old house which Donovon gifted me.
This area is not part of the pack, but it is near to the pack so it will be easier for us to meet often. Moreover, if Emma crosses the pack border then we will be aware of it.
However, I have given strict instructions to Jenna, Gavin, and Luca that their first priority should be Ella. And if things turn bad, then they have to take Ella back to our pack and protect her.
Ella stirs in my arms and scrunches up her nose as she cutely sneezes while she rubs her nose with her fist.
“Bless you, darling.” I kiss her head and carry her inside the room as it is getting chilly outside.
I am staying the in spare bedroom because I can’t step into our bedroom which is filled with so many memories of Donovon and me.
It is no use in hurting myself more, than I am already feeling.
Placing Ella in her travel cot, I quickly take a shower change into fresh clothes. Wyatt and Cole will come here as soon as they will get a chance and from what I can assume even Donovon will be around. He knows I am staying here as this is what I have been informed.
I have no idea what his reaction will be when he will meet Ella. Honestly, I am scared and I am not fully convinced that we should let him see Ella. But I know it’s not fair, if I keep them away, because even if Donovon doesn’t remember anything but still he is her father. And they both deserve to meet each other.
Maybe she can help her father in a way no one else can.
Walking back into the living room, I find Micah sleeping on the couch. Picking up the throw blanket from the corner of the living room, I cover him.
Jenna will be staying with Wyatt at their place, while Luca and Gavin, along with Micah will be staying here.
He knows everything and he is ready to help us in every way he can. And he is kind of a person we need with us because he not only has connections since he is Elders’ son but also he has a vast knowledge of spells so he can help us to find a way to break the spell.
I start preparing for dinner after calling Gavin and Luca to come home for some rest as they have been guarding the house since we have come here.
“You are upset, moon.” Micah’s voice comes from beside me.
“Just tell me any single reason, why I should be happy?” I scoff.
Wolfie is lost, Donovon doesn’t remember anything, and I have just brought my daughter in the middle of the danger.
There is nothing to be happy about.
“You have someone in your life who loves you, even when he doesn’t remember you.” He glances at me, “Don’t you think this reason is more than enough to be happy?”
“You know, he is lucky to have your love.” His lips tilt into a rueful smile, “But even you are fortunate to have him.”
“I love you, Moon.” He sighs, while I look at him in disbelief not knowing what to say, “I have loved you from the moment I have seen you, there is something about you which draws me to you.”
“You can’t love me, Micah. It’s wrong.” Swallowing, I shake my head, “You have mate somewhere and she deserves your love.”
“Donovon is not the only one who is living with a curse.” He looks away, “I am cursed with the lifetime loneliness.” His jaws tighten as his every word is filled with immense pain and hatred.
I wanted to know what he does he means, but I don’t want to hurt him more than he is already feeling.
“You know, there is another reason why I call you moon.” There is an unreadable expression on his face, “Because I can only wish for you, but I will never be able to get you. You might before my eyes, but you are far from my reach. Just like the moon.” He chuckles.
A feeling of uneasiness settles inside me because his words are making me uncomfortable.
“Don’t worry, I will never come in between you and Donovon. Because not every love is the same.” He smiles, shaking his head noticing my uneasy expression, “I know you both are meant to be with each other, mate bond or not.”
“However, I will also never stop loving you.” He holds my hand, “You are special to me because you helped me to find myself. Your friendship means a lot to me, and I am more than happy to just have you in my life as my friend.” His eyes have nothing, but sincerity in them.
“Micah, I pray that soon you find someone who loves you with all her heart and takes away all the loneliness of your life, filling your life with happiness.” I squeeze his hand back while softly smiling at him.
“Thank you.” He smiles wrapping an arm around my shoulder, he gives me a half hug, “Now I truly believe even I will find my destiny.”
“Who is the most cutest pup in this whole world?” I kiss Ella’s nose, and she makes cute baby sounds.
“Oh, yeah, it is my Elly.” Smiling, I nod my head as she continues to talk to me in her baby language.
“Who has the most softest fur in this whole world?” I gently poke her cheeks with my fingers.
“Yes, you have, my snuggle bug.” Picking her up, I give her a hug.
I want to squeeze her tightly, because she is so cuddly, and shower her with numerous kisses. I just love her so much that it physically hurts me to be away from her.
Sometimes, I feel like I need her, more than I need breath to live.
After changing her diaper, I dress her up in slightly warm clothes as the temperature dropped a little since the afternoon. Just when I have carried her outside, Wyatt, Jenna, and Cole arrives.
And my heart picks speed in anticipation as my eyes search for Donovon. But I don’t know whether I am feeling relieved or disappointed when I realize he has not come.
Cole brought a stuffed teddy bear for Ella, which is really sweet of him. Just like everyone, even he is fascinated by her cute antics.
I can’t wait her to meet the rest of the pack, but there is time in that. Because first we have to break the spell and help Donovon.
Gavin, Luca are discussing the security with Wyatt and Cole, while Micah as usual is keeping to himself but giving his inputs when he feels like.
I rub the back of my neck feeling tired, as I cover my mouth with the back of my hand while yawning. Last night Ella was extremely fuzzy, so I didn’t get much sleep, because I was busy pacing around the room while rocking her. As that’s the only thing which she was liking otherwise, she used to start crying even if I sit for a moment.
“Hey, why don’t you go and sleep?” Jenna suggests, “We all are here, and we’ll look after Ella. So you don’t have to worry about her.”
“Ivory, go and get some sleep.” She nods her head at me, “You look like a zombie.”
“I promise, I will instantly bring Ella to you if she cries.” She smiles.
After debating myself for a moment, I nod my head. As it is true, I am feeling extremely tired and since they all are here I am not worried about Ella much so I can sleep for a while.
“Thank you, Jenna.” I smile at her gratefully, as she picks up Ella and settles her in arms.
“Go, sleep.” She mouths at me with a small smile.
As soon as my head hits the pillow, my eyes shut and I fall into deep sleep escaping the chaos of the real world for some time.
