Chapter 6
My jaw nearly touches the floor when I see my Wolfie standing in place of Alpha Whitmore.
Alpha Whitmore is Wolfie.
“Wow!” I watch Wolfie in awe.
This is the first time I am seeing him in broad daylight and I have no words to express the beauty of him.
He looks so magnificent... so majestic. His grey fur almost looks silver and from what I recall he is now even larger and stronger.
Walking to him, I stand a few feet away from him still admiring his breathtaking form. Swallowing the emotions which are threatening to slip from my eyes.
He lowers his head in front of me while keeping his eyes locked with mine. It seems as if he is also trying to convey his happiness of meeting me again...like even he was waiting for this moment, just like I have been counting days to meet him again.
Raising my hand, I carefully pat his head afraid that this is all dream and I will wake up any second and he is not going to be here. Just the way numerous times in these past years I have seen him in my dreams.
My eyes, well up when I realize it is indeed not a dream and I have finally found my Wolfie.
Tears slip from my eyes, I bite my lower lip to stop it from quivering.
Falling on my knees I start to sob because even though I have always believed that I will meet him again but there was a slight fear also that I am just wishing for something that is not going to happen.
Wolfie sits on his hind legs in front of me, his large form even in sitting position towering me.
Wolfie lightly whines and licks my hand and tilting his head he looks at my expression.
“My Wolf.” I smile wiping my tears and hug him while stroking his neck. I can hear his purring sound coming from his chest as he turns his head towards my shoulder.
But again I break into tears, as my heart overwhelming with so many emotions. Clutching his fur in my fingers, I cry into his neck. I want to say so much to him... tell him so much but now I feel like I am at a loss of words.
He sits down on his belly and places his paw around me as if he is hugging me back.
“I am so so happy.” I sniffle, “You have no idea, how much I am happy to see you.”
“I was scared that you will not recognize me or something might have happened to you,” I tell him, still keeping my tight hold on him.
“When I came back and didn’t find you on our spot, all my fears were slowly gripping my heart.” Closing my eyes, I release a sigh, “But thank God, you are fine.”
He lightly whines and turning his head he starts sniffing me, while constant purring sound coming from him tells me even he is happy to see me.
No more crying, now.
Suddenly, I pull back and smile at him while narrowing my eyes playfully.
“Wolfie, catch me,” I scream getting on my feet as I start running in the opposite direction. He let out a playful growl and starts chasing me.
When I feel his hot breath behind my back, I run faster letting out a squeal. I dash back towards the house laughing loudly, as he runs after me.
I just turn my head to glance at him when he jumps at me making me fall and holds me down by keeping his paws on my stomach. He pants happily and lets out a playful growl.
The next moment he starts licking my face and neck, making me squirm as another set of laughter leaves from my lips.
“Stop, I can’t breathe...” I say in between my laugh, falling short of breath.
Instantly, he stops, moving away, and sits in front of me while rapidly wagging his tail as he happily barks.
Sitting cross-legged on the grass, I inhale and exhale slowly trying to catch my breath while he watches me.
Then slowly standing up and he pads away after a moment or two Alpha Whitmore walks towards me.
Smiling, he helps me on my feet, and I can’t help but grin at him thinking how stupid I might have been looking when I was boasting about his wolf in front of him.
“I can’t believe you are Wolfie.” I lightly laugh, looking at his face still finding it hard to believe it this guy standing in front of me is my Wolfie.
Just like his wolf, even he is handsome.
“His name is, Storm.” He smiles down at me, then pauses his eyes have a distant look, “But he is saying, for you, he is your Wolfie.” He chuckles.
Blush rises to my cheeks as he lightly caresses my face then smiling to himself he shakes his head.
“We missed you,” he softly says.
“I missed you, too,” I reply without missing a beat, as happiness fills my heart thinking he remembered me even after all these years.
“Alpha!” I call Alpha Whitmore when I find him talking to some wolves of his pack.Dismissing them, he turns to me with a smile which makes my heart flutter.
I don’t know why I am feeling like this around him. My heart beats faster than usual for no reason when he is around.
“Yes, Luna?” He raises his eyebrows while the corner of his mouth raises in a half-smile.
“I am not a luna.” I laugh shaking my head, still happiness bubbles inside me hearing luna from his mouth.
“Yet.” He smiles, “But when you will find your mate then you will be his luna.”
Butterflies dance in my stomach hearing his words. I can’t wait to meet my mate, I just hope he will love me not just because of the mate bond but because for who I am. I don’t care about his rank or status, I just can’t wait to spend my life with him.
He snaps his fingers in front of my face, as my cheeks warm up realizing I just have been lost in my mate’s thoughts.
“Thinking about your mate, huh? He smirks, teasingly.
My cheeks become red even more than before, as I glance down playing with my fingers.
He chuckles then clears his throat.
“So?” He asks looking at me expectantly then I remember why I was calling him.
“Can you please tell Wolfie that I am extremely sorry for not keeping up with my promise?” I quietly ask him, “I swear, I didn’t know I would have to leave this place so suddenly and then I will not be able to return. I was not allowed to leave my pack territory until now.”
“He knows everything and you don’t have to apologize for anything.” He smiles softly at me as he takes my hand in his.
“Thank you, Alpha.” I look at him gratefully.
“Moreover, he likes you a little too much so I don’t think he can ever stay mad at you.” He rolls his eyes slightly chuckling.
“Really?” I excitedly squeeze his hand, “He likes me?”
I was the one who talked to him all the time, not knowing exactly what goes in his mind. I just used to assume his response, so hearing about how he feels about me is something that is really thrilling.
“Yes, he really likes you.” He smiles, “You are the first and probably the only one whom he has allowed to touch him. He doesn’t like it when someone tries to touch his fur, but when you stroke his fur he really gets happy.”
“Alpha, can you please tell him that even I like him a lot and he is my first best friend?” I look at him which makes him laugh.
“Do you realize that your Wolfie and I are the same. And just like him even I am your friend?” He arches his eyebrow, “So, stop calling me Alpha, as it feels weird to hear it from your mouth.”
I frown again at my stupidity, as in excitement I forget that he is Wolfie, not some other person. He and Wolfie are one, not two different persons. They are just two sides of a coin, one human and other animal.
“So, what should I call you then?” I ask him looking confused because as weird it is still I don’t know his name.
“Call me Donovon.” He holds my hand, and strokes his thumb lightly on the back of my hand, instantly warmth encases me, “Because just like Storm is yours, I am yours too.” His intense gaze sends shivers down my spine, not in a bad way.
“Friend... I am your friend too.” Clearing his throat he adds breaking eye contact, but the next moment his eyes again connect with mine.
Unknown feelings stir inside me as I look into his eyes. Something which seems so foreign yet so familiar.
