Chapter 5
Donovon's POV
Removing the hair away from her face, I caress her cheek.
It has been so long since I have seen her, yet it feels like no time has passed since we have first met.
Because of her, I was able to build a connection with my wolf almost two months after my first shift. That night after meeting her, I and my wolf actually talked instead of fighting to prove who is the strongest one. My wolf is an Alpha so after my first shift, it was not easy to control him. He was not ready to be controlled and was fighting me. Being an Alpha made this even more difficult than any other newly shifted wolf. As after our first shift it takes time to bond with our wolf.
It's strange she bonded with my wolf, even before I could bond with him.
"She is beautiful, even more than before." Storm happily sighs.
"When will she wake up?" He asks, "I want to play with her and talk to her and just sit with her as I listen to her talking."
"Soon but as the doctor said her body is weak and needs to rest to recover." I try to make Storm understand that she can't play with her now without hurting his feelings.
I know how much he waited for her, every night how upset he used to be when she hadn't come to our spot as she has promised.
"I know, for now, I am just happy she came to meet me," he says quietly while retreating back somewhere into my mind.
Closing the door, I walk into my office where Cole is waiting for me with that girl.
"Alpha, my name is Jenna Simmons and I am a warrior of Wolfmoon pack," she states as soon as she sees me.
It is not news to me as being an Alpha I can sense other wolves' strength and rank.
"Jenna, can you first tell me why I can't sense her wolf?" Taking my seat behind my desk, I ask her the question which is troubling me.
"That is because she hasn't had her first shift yet."
"What?!" Cole mirrors my shock.
We werewolves first time shifts into our wolves when we are fourteen years old.
So, there is nothing wrong for us to be shocked by hearing this.
"She refused to shift into her wolf because she was afraid that Wolfie would not recognize her scent." She looks at me, "She believes that her wolf will change her human scent."
"But that is not possible!" Standing up, I run my hand through my hair because this is something that almost seems impossible.
Our wolf is a part of us, some even believe it is stronger than our human side. Fighting it is not easy, especially when we don't have any connection with our wolf. We form our connection with our wolf only after our first shift. Slowly, we learn to trust each other. That's why the first year with a newly shifted wolf is dangerous as they are unpredictable.
"We all were surprised as well when she stopped her first shift. Elders present in our pack could sense her power which was not letting her wolf take over control. The only reason they could come up with is that her human side is also as strong as her animal side. Every time she fights her shift she gets weak, as it takes on her human side." She shrugs, "But more than that we believe that just like us even her wolf finds it difficult to win against her stubbornness." She lightly laughs.
"So, for the last four years, she is somehow keeping her wolf restrained. Being alpha blood her wolf is powerful, yet she fights her and not let her take over. But now it is getting more and more painful for her."
"Why she's hurting herself? I would have recognized her no matter what." Storm upset voice rings in my head.
"But, how it is possible for her to stop her shift?" I ask as my heart squeezes painfully thinking about the torment she must feel every time.
"She thinks about her Wolfie." She gives me a small smile as this answers everything, "Somehow talking about him always calmed her down. It was a mystery to me until now, but now I know why."
Storms wags his tail happily, feeling proud of himself that he helped her with her pain.
Soon she divulges everything why Ivory has to left so suddenly and filling me details of Ivory's life for the past ten years.
Alpha, Luna is awake, please come here soon.
Matthews informs me through the mind link.
Cole and Jenna follow me closely behind, as I rush towards my room where Ivory is, I watch Ivory holding Matthews with his ear glaring at him.
Cole and Jenna burst out laughing looking at the pained face of Mathews as Ivory twists his ear angrily.
"Did they hurt you?" Her face slightly relaxes when her eyes land on Jenna, I can see her protective streak over her pack member, "And where is my Wolf?" Her voice rings with anger.
And my idiot wolf bounces here and there feeling happy that she is claiming him as hers.
"I am fine, Ivory." Jenna walks towards her assuring her, "We are in Silvercreek pack and your Wolfie is also fine. Now leave before you tear poor guy' ear away from his head." Shaking her head, she lightly giggles.
Hesitantly, Ivory leaves his ear and rubbing his ear Mathews instantly runs outside the room.
Ivory glances at me but there is no recognition in her face.
Why isn't she feeling the mate bond?
"She hasn't turned eighteenth yet, Jenna said, she will turn eighteen next week." Cole sends me a mind link, sensing my confusion, relieving me from my worry.
"Cole, inform whoever knows that she is my mate, that they will not disclose this to Ivory or anyone that I am her mate. No one will tell her anything or speak a word about it until I say. However, make sure everyone treats her with full respect as I will not tolerate any kind of disrespect against her." I order him through the mind link.
He gives me a perplexed look but nods his head.
I want her to experience our bond herself. I want her to feel the pull and experience the buzzing energy which surrounds our heart when we find our mate for the first time. I want her to feel the love and warmth which fills our heart when we finally meet our mate. But above all, I want her to love me without the influence of any mate bond.
"Hello, I am Alpha Whitmore of Silvercreek pack and we welcome you in our territory." Walking forward, I extend my hand to her.
"Hi, I am Ivory Kellar." She gives me a shy smile and shakes my hand, as calming tingles spread across my body just from her touch, "and I am from Wolfmoon pack." The light blush on her cheeks makes me smile.
Slipping my hand inside my pocket I control myself to touch her cheek to feel her warmth against my skin.
"Alpha, my wolf is not a rogue if he is in your territory please don't harm him," She softly speaks, melting my heart.
"Please let me meet her." Storm begs in my mind.
"Your wolf?" I arch my eyebrow in question, deciding to have a little bit of fun.
"Yes, my wolf, Wolfie." She quickly nods her head, "Have you seen him?" She asks hopefully while looking slightly excited.
"Are you talking about that ugly, weak, grey wolf?" I make a face, as Storm growls angrily in my mind.
"Who are you calling ugly and weak, you pathetic human?"
"How dare you call my Wolfie all these things?" Her demeanor changes, fury flashes in her eyes, "Wolfie is the most beautiful and a really powerful wolf. He can take down your entire force alone." She gives me a death glare, as her chest rises and falls in anger.
"Say a word against him, I will shred you into pieces." She growls, her Alpha power seeping into her words, "Alpha or not, I will kill you and anyone else who tried to hurt MY wolf. So, it is better that you don't even think to harm him."
My chest swells in pride how she fearlessly standing against me, defending my wolf.
"I am her wolf, not yours." Storm huffs but at the same time, even he is proud of her, "She is cute but she is so strong."
"You really like him, huh?" Chuckling, I ask her.
"Very much." She curtly nods, crossing her arms over her chest anger still evident on her face.
"Okay, we should let you meet him then." I walk outside the room towards the backyard, as she follows me along with Cole and Jenna.
After walking a little away from her I turn to face her as she quizzically looks at me. Anger slightly melting away from her features as confusion and curiosity overtaking it.
Winking at her, I shift into my wolf.
