Chapter 4
Donovon’s POV
For almost ten years my wolf drags me to the same spot where we have met her. But she hadn’t shown up there again. We both have lost our hopes that she will ever return.
That’s why I have stopped going there for the past two months. But every night my wolf whines and pleads me to go there. She has formed a bond with my wolf, he still thinks her as his best friend as she had called him.
Cherry
That's what he named her because she smells like cherries.
I have just returned from checking the border patrols when my beta Cole mind links me about some intruder.
Walking outside the packhouse, I already find my beta waiting for me.
“Warrior Matthews has mind linked me about some intruders,” Cole informs me.
My wolf, Storm, is always restless at this time, but for some unknown reason, he is more agitated than usual.
“How many intruders are there and where are they?” I ask, rubbing the back of my neck.
“Two and there is one more, as one of them keeps talking about some wolf.” Cole frowns, his eyes glazed, probably Mathews is mind linking him.
My wolf ear perks up hearing about these intruders.
“We have to get there soon,” Cole says and shows me the place which Matthews has mind linked him.
Immediately, my eyes widen and before I can do anything Storm takes over and soon I am shifted into my wolf running towards the small familiar clearing. Cole also shifts and is now running behind me.
My sensitive hearing picks up a girl’s agonizing cries which make Storm whimper as he pushes himself forward to reach there as soon as he can.
Tearing into the clearing I watch two girls sitting on the ground, as one girl sobbing covering her face as she is physically in pain. Her scent hits my nose, making my heart skips a beat.
Mate.
Cherry.
Both word echoes in my mind.
"Cherry...our mate." Storm sounds immensely happy because not only he has found his friend, but it turns out she is our mate.
As if sensing our approach she removes her hands and looks straight into our eyes. I can sense my wolf’s happiness has doubled when she recognizes us and runs towards us...
“You are alive.” Ivory hugs us, not a bit frightened by us.
Being an alpha my wolf is bigger and stronger than most of the wolves, but she is not bothered at all.
I can sense the surprise of my pack members as Storm doesn’t let anyone touch him and here this stranger girl is hugging him as if her life depends on him.
Tilting his head slightly towards her, Storm sniffs her and nearly happily howls at her heavenly smell.
Friend...Mate...
I smile at Storm and nod my head. Finally, I found my mate.
“Wolfie...” She holds our face as she whispers causing Storm to purr in happiness, enjoying the warmth that her touch is bringing to our heart. But to our horror, she sways on her feet and falls to the ground as she faints.
Storm whimpers looking at her limp form.
“What happened to her?” He asks and nudges her face then licks her hands and the side of the face then takes a step back looking at her then again licks her.
Another girl approaches us causing me to growl at her. She lowers her slightly then looks at Ivory.
“All her energy has been drained from fighting her wolf.” She looks at her with saddened eyes, “It happens every time when she refuses to shift.”
She is a werewolf? But I haven’t smelled her wolf on her.
I need answers, so quickly going behind the trees I shift back into my human form and Cole gives me a pair of sweatpants as he has also shifted into his human form.
Rushing back to Ivory, I place her in my arms glancing at her with worried eyes.
“I think we should take her back to the packhouse,” Cole says as he hovers over my shoulder to look at Ivory.
“No." The girl who is with Ivory glares at Cole, "I will not let anyone take her." She growls her eyes flashes indicating her wolf is coming forward.
"Who is going to stop us?" Matthew growls back, challenging her, not liking that she has disrespected his beta.
Within a blink of an eye, she pins him against the tree tightening her hold on his neck. He looks too surprised even to react because clearly he misjudged her strength.
"Please, calm down we are not going to hurt her." Cole talks to her in a calming voice. Because like me even he can sense the protective vibes coming off of from her. She and her wolf are just being protective of Ivory.
Leaving Mathews she steps back and closes her eyes taking a deep breath.
“Are you her mate?” The girl asks looking at me when she has calmed down.
“Yes.” I nod my head and look back at her Ivory’s pale face.
“Thank God, I was so worried how would her mate react if he finds out that she loves another wolf since she was eight, whom she met just two times.” She lightly chuckles to herself.
"You are going to come with us to the packhouse, as I have some questions." Picking Ivory carefully, I look at the girl, "But before that, we need to get her checked."
"Yes, Alpha." She slightly bows her head and starts following us.
