Chapter 3
After checking into the motel, I left Jenna and make my way towards my old house. From the information which I have gathered from around, someone has purchased that house, however, no one lives there.
Parking my car near the familiar house, I take out my bag pack in which I have brought the same blue blanket with me which I have for years.
If Wolfie doesn't recognize my scent then maybe he will recognize this blanket. Yet, the thought he might not recognize me creates an unsettling feeling in my stomach.
Taking the familiar path I start walking towards our spot. Tears prick in my eyes as nostalgia washes over me. I wipe some tears which flow from my eyes when I reach our spot. Everything looks the same, giving me a hope that again I will be reunited with that wolf who left a strong impression on me.
Keeping my backpack on the side I sit on the stone as now I wait for Wolfie to appear from somewhere.
Two hours have passed but he hasn't come. Moisture starts to gather in my eyes, thinking he might have forgotten me because he is just an animal. I am not sure if it was just in the mind of my eight-year-old self that he could understand me or if really understood me.
Then my heart twists painfully, as worse thought of something happening to him crosses my mind.
My sharpened sense immediately catches the sound of footsteps coming closer along with soft padded sounds. Four to five guys come out from the shadows of the trees and from their distinctive scent and huge builts it is obvious they are werewolves.
"Who are you?" One of the guys asks in a threatening tone which my alpha blood doesn't like a bit, "And what are you doing here?"
But I keep my calm.
"I am waiting for my friend," I say in a quiet but firm voice.
"Who is your friend?" The same guy asks, he is probably the leader of this group and from the power coming from him he is a warrior.
"A wolf." I hold his gaze steadily. The guys share a look and their features hardened even more.
"You are not allowed to step onto our land." He takes a threatening step towards me.
Hearing his words, I clench my jaws together as anger flares up inside me.
"This is our area." I point at the ground, squaring my shoulders, "You are the one who stepped here. I suggest take your men and step out of this land," I say in a menacing tone.
"My wolf and I don't mean any harm, so leave this area." I eye each one of them.
"Wolf?" The guy on my side gives me a quizzical look, "I don't smell your wolf."
"My friend is a wolf and this place belongs to us." Taking a deep breath, I try to calm myself, "The area on which you are standing is claimed by us."
"If your friend wolf claimed this area then it means it is already dead." Warriors head snarls, "We don't let any rogue live."
No.
Breath knocks out my lungs hearing this... I haven't thought about this that Wolfie might be a rogue and that night maybe later those two wolves might have killed him.
"Ivory!" I hear Jenna calling my name, but my head starts to spin.
"Wolfie..." I whisper, closing my eyes.
"What is going on here?" Jenna comes to my side as keeping her eyes on these guys, who might have killed my wolf.
"They might have killed him," I tell her as silent growling leaves my lips which widen her eyes in an alert.
She senses my wolf trying to overtake me.
"Ivory, look at me." Holding my shoulders she forces me to open my eyes.
Tears slip down from my eyes, as when vision starts to change.
"Shit, Ivory your eyes are changing." She looks between my eyes.
"What's happening?" Someone asks and I can feel the guys closing their circle on us, which makes me growl menacingly.
I let out a painful cry and fall on my knees while clutching my head, my face wet with tears.
"Ivory, don't hold her, let her out." Jenna's faint plea reaches my ears.
"No," I cry as attempting to forcefully stop my shift.
"No..." I cry louder this time as my wolf thrashes inside me trying to overtake my body.
"He will not recognize me..." I whimper, clenching my eyes I fight to keep my control, "Wolfie will not recognize me."
I shake my head furiously as pain shoots throughout my body.
"Help me, Jenna," I scream when my head feels like it will burst any moment from pressure.
"Ivory," Jenna frantically tries to catch my attention, "Tell me how your Wolfie looks like?"
"Wolfie..." I mumble, as his face flashes through my mind.
"Yes, your Wolfie?" She caresses my face.
"Beautiful... he is beautiful." I breathe while tears keep on running down my face.
"His fur is so soft..." I remember the feel of his soft fur between my fingers.
"Yes, keep on talking about him...tell me more." Jenna presses as I feel myself calming down.
"He is so warm and protective." Weak smile forms on my face thinking about how he stood in front of me protectively.
"Wolfie..." I sob and cover my face with my hands, thinking about he might be dead.
Then suddenly loud footsteps force me to look up.
"Wolfie!" I cry happily as I watch my Wolfie emerging from the trees.
Stumbling I stand up and run to him.
"You are alive." Wrapping my arms around his neck I hug him not caring he might not recognize me or kill me considering as a threat.
Tears trickle down my face in relief.
"I am sorry, I kept you waiting for so long..." Holding his muzzle in my hands, I whisper while dark spots dance before my eyes and soon I feel myself falling into the darkness.
