Chapter 35
Standing near the window, I look at the ground where Donovon is training with other wolves.
Tonight is the Luna ceremony and we are not allowed to meet before the ceremony.
There are some traditions of the Silvercreek pack which I find quite interesting. Well, apart from not allowing me to meet my mate.
In most of the Luna ceremonies, only Luna has to wear white showing her devotion to Moon Goddess. But here every she-wolf wears white on the Luna ceremony, to protect their Luna from the evil as she is considered the strength of the pack. In case anyone tries to attack the Luna in any way they will not be able to find her among all the she-wolves.
Secondly, Luna has to wear flowers at the ceremony which will be handpicked by the Alpha, this shows his true love which he has for his mate. Since Alpha is known for his power and rigid nature, as he is the leader of the pack, this gesture also represents that his mate is the only one in front of whom he can be vulnerable.
"Do you know that you look cute when you are thinking so hard?" Donovon’s voice echoes in my mind, snapping me out of my thoughts.
Blinking, I find him looking at me with an amused expression as I am still standing in the window.
"Were you thinking about me?" His teasing tone brings a shy smile on my face. "Because you are all I am thinking about and can't wait to have you in my arms."
"I was thinking about the flowers which you will bring for me," I reply to him while thinking about different flowers as I completely open my mind link to let him see my thoughts.
"No, just white." He shakes his head and smiles.
"Why only white?" I feel confused as I have seen so many beautiful and colorful flowers around here then why does he want to bring white flowers for me?
"Because you are special." He winks at me and blows a kiss as he sprints towards the woods.
A moment later I hear a power howl followed by other howls.
Its the sign of the commencement of the Luna ceremony. The first thing is to go hunting to bring something for tonight’s feast. Mostly male wolves participate in hunting as she-wolves have to take care of other things because no male wolves are allowed to come near Luna before the completion of the ceremony. But some she-wolves also join hunting with others. There are no restrictions.
Currently, no male is allowed in the packhouse including the Alpha himself as it has turned into what Jenna is calling Luna’s den. Every single she-wolf of the pack is busy in the preparation of tonight’s ceremony.
However, I am thoroughly missing my family as they will not be able to make it to my ceremony. Michelle’s due date has passed and she can go into labor any moment from now, that is why she can’t come. While James will not leave her side because he has entered into the protective phase as Michelle is in her most vulnerable state.
Whenever any she-wolf is about to give birth her mate becomes extremely protective of her and their unborn pup. Their wolf takes over completely as they guard her every second till it is the time of the birth. They will not hesitate to kill anyone if they consider them a threat.
Since they already have Noah, James wolf is not even allowing anyone to take Noah away from his sight. He wants Michelle and Noah to be near him every single moment.
“Come in,” I answer when I hear soft knocks at the door.
Julia enters along with some other woman whom I have never seen before.
This woman is not an ordinary woman as I can feel strong power radiating off of her, but at the same time, I can’t smell her wolf either. However, I can sense a hint of fear from Julia which instantly sends me into protective mode.
Walking to them, I hold Julia’s hand while not removing my eyes from that woman, and pull her towards my side.
“Who are you?” I ask as Fire taking over my senses, not liking the way she is staring at me, as I stand between her and Julia.
I feel something trying to invade my senses making me uncomfortable and when I look at her I find her watching me with a strange look.
“What are you doing?” I growl loudly when I hear Julia falling on her knees as she screams in pain.
“Stop it, right now!” I order her as I grab her by her neck and slam her hard against the wall when along with Julia I hear other wolves screaming in agony, confirming my suspicion that she has something to do with it.
My canines elongate as anger consumes every single fiber of my body wanting to shred her into pieces for hurting my pack.
Her eyes widen in shock, then an understanding flashes across her features.
Slowly, a smile comes on her face as every scream silences then her expression changes into an affectionate one. But this doesn’t stop me from tightening my hold on her neck as I continue to choke her.
“Ivory.” Julia places her hand on my shoulder, my anger cools down a little when I hear her voice knowing that she is unharmed, “Calm down, child.” She whispers in a soothing motherly voice.
After a moment or two, I release my hold on her neck and take a step back.
“My name is Ophelia.” She softly smiles looking at me, “I am one of the elders.” She introduces herself but lightly laughs when I keep on glaring her unfazed by her.
"It's an honor to meet you, Ivory." She smiles a genuine smile, "And sorry, for unintentionally hurting them, I really didn't mean to." She apologetically looks at me, sounding genuinely ashamed.
Then abruptly, she embraces me in a hug.
"No cast will work you, my child." She whispers in such a low voice that no one can hear her, "You are blessed with protection from every magic."
