Chapter 31
The next day when I wake he is already gone. By the time, I am getting ready for the day, I feel a strong wave of anger rising inside me and, instantly, I knew this emotion is coming from Donovon.
The feeling is so intense that soon even I start to feel myself getting worked up.
Without wasting any time, I walk outside the room to search for Donovon. As soon as I reach the main living area, I hear Emma shouting, causing me to frown.
How can somebody shout in the morning when I barely like to speak to anyone?
“Donovon, she is a liar,” Emma shouts and I knew she is praising me, “She cheated in the challenge.”
A large bandage is wrapped around her neck and shoulder, while there are scratches here and there on her body.
“How could you let her mark you?” She yells clenching her hands on her side.
“You are already getting on my nerves since last night, Emma, leave from here right now,” Donovon growls, “Before I decide to throw you out of the pack. Because I will not hear a word against my mate.”
Oh, so this is why Cole had called Donovon last night.
“Can’t you see she is manipulating you?” She cries in frustration.
“I thought you would be happy for me that I found my mate.” Donovon looks at her, “Why are you doing this? What has happened to you?” He sighs looking confused and sad both at the same time.
“I care about you.” She takes a step towards him, “Why can’t you see this?”
“I love her, why can’t you see this and be happy for us?” He throws his hands up in annoyance.
“She cheated in the challenge. She is not fit to be a Luna or your mate.”
“Enough!” I yell and before I know Fire is already overpowering my emotions.
“From day one I have been tolerating your nonsense, but now I will not.” I walk towards her, “One more time you disrespect me, I will snap your neck even before you can blink your eye.” I growl at her.
“I am not afraid of you.” She snarls, “You cheated and lied to everyone that you can’t shift. You chose to fight in your human form, but you shifted.”
“Beta Cole only asked me whether I am okay with you fighting in both forms.” I arch an eyebrow with a smug smile on my face, “But he never asked me in which form I would fight.” I wave my finger, while slowly shaking my head.
“So, technically, I was not bound to fight you only in my human form.” I shrug, crossing my arms.
“Everyone who witnessed our fight can vouch for this.” I wave my hand, gesturing towards the pack members.
“Luna is saying the truth, she didn’t cheat.” One of the pack members takes my side, “The fight was completely fair.”
She looks lost at words, however, her expression turns murderous when she glances at me.
However, without saying anything she just leaves.
Suddenly, I feel a weird taste in my mouth as Fire growls while baring her teeth.
Next time, I will not just taste her blood, but I will tear her flesh from her bones.
My stomach churns in disgust when images of me tasting Emma’s blood flash through my mind.
"Fire?!" I yell in frustration at my wolf and run to back to my room as vomit rises in my throat.
The bathroom door connects with the wall in a loud bang, as I push it open and empty my guts in the toilet bowl.
Not even a second later, Donovon is by my side holding my hair while I continue to throw up.
When I finish throwing up, I slump on the floor sitting cross-legged.
“Man, you are pretty fast.” Cole laughs, “Not even a day and you already knocked her up.”
Before I can hear Donovon’s reply my stomach heaves and I again begin to puke.
“What happened?” I hear Julia asking Donovon as I continue to dry heave.
“I don’t know she suddenly started throwing up.” He rubs my back.
“I just remembered tasting Emma’s blood and it made me sick.” I frown as my mouth is filled with the nasty taste of puke.
Cole starts to laugh loudly and when I glance at Donovon even he is trying to hold back his laugh.
The sound of a loud slap makes me turn to look at Julia who is glaring at Cole while he is rubbing the back of his head.
“Both of you out now!” She narrows her eyes at both of them.
Quickly, both of them leave the bathroom as Julia makes me stand and hand me the toothbrush while caressing my head.
I frown and spit out the toothpaste in the sink when I hear their laughter from the hallway.
“They are laughing at me,” I complain to Julia.
“They are idiots, you don’t pay attention to them.” She rubs my back in a comforting manner. “They peed in their pants when the first time they were introduced to Arthur’s wolf. While you weren’t even afraid of him. So, you are stronger than them.”
“And you are my favorite child.” She smiles and hugs me when I finished washing my face. “So that makes you, even more, better than them.” She kisses my head.
I wrap my arms around her, hugging her back, feeling the warmth of her motherly love which instantly brings a smile on my face.
After my run, leaning on the hands, I sit on the grass. Raising my face up I bask in the sun. From a little bit far, I can hear some of the pack members playing soccer even Donovon is with them. A few days back, I came to know that he loves playing soccer, even most of the pack members’ favorite game is soccer.
Slowly, I entirely lie down on the grass and cross my arms behind my head. I never mind solitude, I don’t constantly need someone’s company. However, today I am ignoring Donovon.
He has been trying to talk to me, but I ignored him because even now I can see he is trying hard not to burst into laughter when he sees me.
I don't know what is so funny. I am not a bloodsucking creature who will enjoy blood. I don’t even eat steaks which are not well-done. And here I actually tasted raw meat.
Yuck!
When the sound of soft thumps comes from my side, turning my head around I see Wolfie quietly walking towards me. But as soon as he sees I am awake, he hurriedly crosses the distance and sits beside me.
“I am not talking to Donovon.” I frown as roll on my stomach and rest my face in my hands mirroring Wolfie’s position as even he is sitting on his belly, “He makes fun of me.”
"He is bad." Wolfie’s voice comes in my mind, "Wolfie is good." He puffs his chest.
“Oh, Wolfie is the best.” I grin at his childish behavior.
“I love it when you talk to me.” I smile and place my hand on his paw.
Wolfie looks at my hand and licks it.
"You so tiny and cute." His amused tone makes me laugh.
“You are giant.” I laugh even he lets out a bark which sounds like he is laughing.
"You okay now?" He asks sounding concerned.
“I am perfectly fine.”
I lie down on my side because my elbows hurt from resting my head on them for so long.
Wolfie keeps on staring at me for a moment, then he also lies on his side stretching all his four legs in front of him nearly kicking me.
"Sorry." He looks at me sheepishly.
"You hungry?" After a few moments, he asks.
“No.” I quickly shake my head, still even thinking about eating is making me queasy.
"You should eat." He whines, ”You don't eat much."
“When I think of eating, I recall tasting her blood.” I tried not to gag. "It is just yuck."
"She smells bad." He sounds irritated, ”I don’t like her."
"You smell good." He brings his muzzle near my neck and sniffs.
"It tickles." I laugh when his warm breath touches my neck while stroking his head with my hand.
He keeps his head on the ground and closes his eyes while I continue to scratch his head. Soon he starts to purr and before I know it he falls asleep.
“I love you, Wolfie.” I kiss his giant head while smiling at my Wolfie.
