Chapter 32
“On the count of three.” I ready myself, holding my weapon in my hand, “One...two...three...”
“Attack!” I yell while throwing the water balloon at Matthews.
“Ouch!” I jump trying to find the culprit who has hit me with a water balloon.
“You are so dead!” I laugh picking up three balloons from the bucket and run after Jenna.
Turning around she throws the balloon in my direction but ducking down I save myself from being hit this time.
I was being bored so do the rest of the people. So, I and Jenna came up with the idea to have a water balloon fight. Firstly, only us and pups were playing but later almost everyone joined us even Julia.
The triplets, I mean Donovon, Cole, and Wyatt, have gone to a neighboring pack. Even though it rarely happens that all three Alpha, Beta, and Gamma leave the territory of the pack together but the neighboring pack is a new pack and has been struggling that’s why they have gone there to help them in establishing a proper system. Arthur is currently acting Alpha of the pack.
If I would have been announced the Luna and an official ceremony would have been taken place in front of the elders then I would be the one to perform all the pack duties in absence of Donovon.
The Luna ceremony will be in two weeks as some of the elders will not be able to come here before that. Elders are the oldest werewolves and are responsible to keep the harmony between packs. On all the important occasions their presence is necessary because, after the Moon Goddess, they hold the highest place in our kind.
I will not lie I am not a least bit upset about the delay in Luna Ceremony as then I would have been doing the work instead of having fun.
The front of my shirt gets wet and a cute giggle comes from behind the little hiding spot.
Tiptoeing, I go behind the wooden barrel and pick up the little girl who must not be more than three.
“Gotcha!” I laugh and tickle her while she loudly giggles.
“Pretty.” She touches my face, smiling widely.
This proves that kids are so innocent and pure-hearted who see good in everything. Because currently, I am far... very far away from looking pretty with wet untamed hair and dirt-smeared shirt.
“Oh, you are so pretty.” I kiss her cheek.
“What is your name, sweetheart?” I settle her on my hip.
“Nina.” She answers shyly smiling at me.
“Okay, Nina, will you help us winning this game?” I ask her not wanting to let her run around herself as she may easily get hurt because this water balloon fight has turned into a war.
“Yes.” Her eyes shine with excitement as she nods her head.
Holding her securely, I hand her a balloon and pick another for myself as I look around to find my target.
She claps and laughs when I hit Luca on his head. Soon he starts chasing us with two balloons in both hands, but I quickly mind link him not to hit Nina.
The nice guy he is, he smacks all four balloons on my back quite gently.
I glare at the smiling idiot in front of me, while controlling my urge to rub the spot on my back where he hit me.
“What the hell?!” Suddenly, the smile is wiped off his face as he looks at my little partner while I start laughing loudly looking at his stunned wet face.
“We won!” Nina smiles proudly after throwing the balloon on Luca’s face.
“Thank you so much!” I hug her, “Because of you we won.”
“Next time, you are going to me on my team.” Luca playfully glares at Nina.
“No, my Luna team.” My heart literally turned into a puddle when she turns her face away from him and wraps her arms around my neck.
“Love you, beautiful.” I murmur kissing Nina’s head.
There is an uneasy feeling inside my stomach and for some unknown reason suddenly I start to feel restless. Even Fire is anxious, which is worrying me even more.
My heart is thumping wildly inside my chest like something is about to happen. I am getting all these weird vibes which are making me fidgety.
Something is definitely not right.
Abruptly, breath is knocked out my chest and as I clench the front of my chest.
Donovon.
Quickly, I go to Donovon’s office where Arthur is.
“Arthur, when will Donovon and everyone return?” I ask the moment I enter the office.
“Tonight or tomorrow early morning.” He raises his head from the paperwork, looking at me cautiously, “Why are you asking this?”
“Send a group of warriors to Donovon, now. ” I shake my head as I start to pace in the room, “Something is not right.”
“Calm down, Ivory.” He walks to me and gently places his hand on my shoulder, “Everything is fine, I have talked to him an hour ago. Sometimes being away from mates makes us anxious.”
“No, Arthur, don’t waste time.” I shake my head in frustration, “Please, send a group of warriors for Donovon’s help.”
The need to see Donovon makes me suffocated to the point that I can’t breathe.
Mate... go to mate.
Fire howls in my mind.
“If you are not going to do anything.” I glare at him, “Then I am going myself.”
Something in my expression tells him that he should not argue with me on this.
His eyes glaze over as he mindlinks someone.
“Relax, I have ordered our warriors to go for Donovon’s help.” He gives me a stern look. “But you are not going to leave the pack’s territory, understand?"
“Don’t worry everything will be fine.” His gaze softens as he nods his head, “I will go and make sure our warriors are prepared to leave.” He pats my head gently then he leaves.
I hope he is saying the truth because I can’t explain why but I am feeling that Donovon needs me.
My heart clenches and a tear slips from my eyes followed by another, then another, and before I know I am already crying. I send as much love I can to him through our bond, which is just a faint hum because of the distance between us. I pray he can feel my love for him through our bond safely return home.
Donovon, come back to me soon. I am waiting for you.
