Wolf Bond

Donovon harshly grabs my arm, turning me to face him, as soon as we are alone.

It was decided tomorrow morning the fight will take place in the pack's training ground.

“What the hell were you thinking back there?” He glares at me, his chest rising and falling in harsh breathing.

“It is not some kind of stupid race that you have agreed to.” He runs his hand through his hair, “It is a fucking challenge... ”

“She is one of our best fighters.” He holds my shoulders, “She never loses any fight.”

So much confidence in her, but none in me.

His words are hurting me, at the same time they are also encouraging me. At this moment, I can see the truth behind Emma’s word when she said they both loved each other. I know Donovon doesn’t love her the way she claims but I can’t deny my gut feeling which is telling me at some point in his life even he felt something for her... something which was more than just friendship.

And it hurts.

“Donovon.” Removing his hands from my shoulders, I step away from him, “You are free to choose your side... you don’t have to be on my side.”

“You are my mate, I have to be on your side.” He sighs, “I just don’t want you to get hurt.”

His words want me to laugh at him. He says he doesn’t want me to be hurt and he is the one who is hurting me with every word that is coming out of his mouth.

“Choose the side where you want to be, not where you have to be.” I pointedly look at him, “where your trust lies, because I don’t need someone to be on my side because of some bond.”

“Ivory,” His gaze softens, “It is not what I mean.”

“But it is exactly, what I mean.” I slowly nod my head, “I have been taught to never lose confidence in myself and to fight for what I believe. So, even if everyone is against me, it doesn’t matter. Because my belief in myself is enough for me to turn impossible into possible.”

“I have Alpha blood in me which will never allow me to back down from any challenge.” I directly stare into his eyes, showing him I am not someone who will get afraid of the challenges, “I will not give up until the last drop of my blood.”

I notice we are not alone as Jenna, Gavin, and Luca are instantly beside me sharing the same fierce expression as mine, clearly showing where their loyalty lies. Even Wyatt joined us but he is assessing the situation quietly from the corner.

It is kept hidden from everyone that they are bounded by a blood oath with me. We share a stronger and unbreakable connection, and it also means they can't be influenced by any Alpha power as I am the one only whose power will have any effect on them. My emotions will directly reflect on them, as now the anger which they are showing is not just theirs, it is mine.

Donovon growled at them, clearly taking their gesture as disrespect but neither of them left my side completely unfazed by his Alpha dominance.

Realization passes through Wyatt's eyes as he looks between me and the rest of them. He is smart I have to give him this credit. As the practice of blood oath is very rare and is almost considered as a myth.

Subtly, I nod my head at them, signaling them to give us some privacy, without saying anything they all leave.

Turning around I go into his room, as he follows me behind.

Instead of going to bed, I straight walk into the closet and start gathering my stuff.

"What are you doing?" Holding my hand, he stops me from placing my things in my bag.

"Going to another room," I reply impassively.

"This is your room," he instantly points.

"No, this is your room."

"Ivory, please, don't do this." He sighs.

"Donovon, I am not your slut who will share your room with you and sleep on your bed."

"Why are you saying such things?" He exhales a frustrated breath, "You are my mate, we share a bond. Don't insult our bond like this."

"The same bond which has been questioned not once, but twice." I retort, "The same bond for which I am fighting for... alone." I whisper, glancing into his eyes.

Swallowing, back my emotions, I walk outside his room closing the door behind me. Because I am done for today, I don't think I can tolerate any more hurt than I have already been.

Tomorrow I am not just going to fight for our bond, but I will also fight for the respect which I deserve not just as Donovon's mate and this pack's Luna, but as Ivory Keller.
