Wolf Bond

Chapter 23

I have been purposely keeping a distance from Donovon, as whenever he is near, Fire keeps on snickering making me anxious about her actions.

I think Fire enjoys teasing me, it is like this is her way of taking revenge from me, for keeping her trapped in my mind for so long.

Turning around, I watch Donovon, Cole, and Wyatt as they are busy talking animatedly with each other about some upcoming soccer game.

Wyatt is Donovon’s cousin brother and also the gamma of the pack. Donovon, Cole, and Wyatt share a close bond since they all grew up together and have been friends since they were in diapers.

Whenever I glance in the direction of Donovon, his eyes instantly find mine which is weird and sweet at the same time.

With the slight raise of eyebrows, he questioning looks at me. Responding just with a casual shrug, I nod my head towards the kitchen letting him know I am going there.

I love this silent communication between us, it is like we have our own way of talking with each other. It is strange that in such less time, we started to understand each other unsaid words. If I need anything, before I can say, he brings it to me. Or sometimes we both share a look because we found something funny, which no one else can see.

When I enter the kitchen, it is entirely empty, this something rarely happens but since everyone is in the theatre room watching a movie so there is no one in the kitchen at this time. Jenna has been resting in her room as she has been tried after today’s training. I have noticed she has been training more than usual, not only her but everyone else too.

I have a feeling there is something going on as even James has been acting a little weird. He suddenly called me and asked me about my whereabouts sounding panicked even though he knew I am here. When I questioned him, he subtly changed the topic confirming my assumption that something is definitely fishy. I will ask Donovon, later, maybe he knows what happened. Or maybe if Donovon will ask James, then he will tell him.

Thinking to surprise Jenna with her favorite cold coffee and to spend some time with her, I take out milk from the refrigerator. And at the same moment, my nose scrunches up in disgust when it hits with the smell of my not-so-favorite person, Emma.

Why she always smells so weird, like something really nasty?

“Don’t get too much comfortable.” Emma enters the kitchen and stands next to me, “Because your days are limited here.” She smirks.

Her breaths are limited if she doesn’t stop bothering us.

Fire growls in my mind as she paces back and forth trying to control her anger.

“Okay.” I nod my head looking unimpressed, which agitates her, "Anything else?" I mockingly arch an eyebrow, unfazed by her scowl.

“Do you think I am joking?” She lowly growls, “I will throw you out of this pack and Donovon’s life. I will prove to everyone that you are not his mate, because I am his real mate.” She points to herself.

“I and Donovon are meant to be together, but you came between us.” She glares at me while I calmly listen to her, “If you don’t leave from here, I will kill you.” She takes a threatening step towards me, trying to intimidate me.

"I am so scared." I pretend to shake, "Look, I am so frightened by you that I am shivering with fear." Rolling my eyes, I scoff.

Fire is itching for her blood, while I am waiting for her to do the biggest mistake of her life.

“I am your Luna.” I straighten up, I smirk thoroughly enjoying her annoyance, “Have you forgotten that?”

“You are not a Luna! You are just a pathetic girl who is pretending to be his mate, with all your Wolfie drama.” She mocks.

"If anyone is pathetic between us, it is you." I raise my eyebrows at her, "Trying to claim my mate as yours, even though we both know the truth."

"Donovon and I, love each other but now he has forgotten everything because of you... because of your fake bond." She clenches her teeth, "But I haven't forgotten anything, I will make him realize that I am his true love."

"However, before that, I am going to teach you a lesson for trying to come between me and Donovon." She lunges at me but I move out of her way at the last second.

I smirk because this is what I wanted her to do. Now my hands are not tied, as being a Luna I can't attack any pack member without any strong reason. But now she herself gave me a reason to show her what happens when anyone tries to claim what is mine.

She crashes against the dishes and within a second everyone is in the kitchen looking between us, trying to figure what happened.

"Emma!" Donovon's voice booms, when she again tries to attack me, and he pushes me behind him protectively.

She stops and suddenly her entire expression changes when she finds everyone glaring at her for trying to attack me.

"This is all her doing, she provoked me to attack her so that she can bring me down in front of your eyes." She looks at Donovon, "You know me, I can never hurt anyone."

Donovon glares at her as his whole body is shaking with anger, placing my hand between his shoulders blades I gently run circles while sending calming waves through our bond.

This doesn't go unnoticed by her as anger flashes through her eyes and her hands turn into claws.

"I challenge her!" She growls at me, realizing there is no way anyone is going to believe that she is innocent because everyone has witnessed how she tried to attack me.

"I accept the challenge." I smile smugly, even before anyone can react, as I stand beside Donovon giving her a challenging look.

We are going to crush this lowlife she-wolf.
