Chapter 25
The next morning when I walk outside my room, I am not surprised to see everyone present in the packhouse, even the one who doesn’t live in the here.
The tension is thick in the air, they all are torn between showing their support to me whom they hardly know or to support one of their pack members.
Some look at me questioningly, while others have encouraging smiles on their faces.
However, I keep my head clear because I will prove myself in the fight.
Gavin and Luca instantly walk beside almost in a protective manner when I make my way towards the training ground.
“You are better than all of us,” Gavin speaks as he wraps his arm around my shoulder in a brotherly way, “Just don’t lose your focus, and stay calm.”
“That bitch is going to provoke you, but never let your eyes wander from her. And don’t worry, we all are rooting for you.” Luca smiles and ruffles my hair, making me lightly laugh.
“Thank you.” I smile at both of them, “But I have a request, no matter what happens you will not jump into my fight. Especially, restrain Jenna if she tries to do something.” I sternly look at them.
They both reluctantly nod their head, because they have promised to protect me and accepting my request means going against their word.
“I know it will not be easy for you, but you have to understand that now it is about my dignity and my pack’s dignity. I have to fight to show everyone that I am no princess who has lived all her life behind the walls of the heavily guarded castle. But I am a warrior who knows to win her own battles without anyone’s support.”
“Ivy!” I hear and at the same time, I notice Ian barreling towards me.
He wraps his arms around me as soon as he reaches me.
“You are going to win.” He releases me and looks at me, “I have prayed to the Moon Goddess, and she always listens to me.” He smiles even making me smile in return.
“I trust you.” The conviction in his voice increases my confidence, “You are my Luna and I know you will beat that meanie Emma because you are stronger than her.” A cute angry frown forms between his brows and I glance at Gavin and Luca to find them smiling at this little kid.
“I will not break your trust, Ian.” Crouching down, in front of him I kiss his forehead.
When I stand up, my eyes lock with Donovon who is wordlessly looking at me. The conflict in his eyes is visible, just like the rest of them, he seems torn.
Smiling at him, I walk towards him. His expression turns into a relieved one when I approach him. I don’t hate him. Disappointed? Yes. However, I can’t watch his troubled expression.
“Ivory.” He whispers and extends his hand towards me.
“Donovon.” I nod my head but keep my hands on my sides.
Slowly, he curls his fingers into his palm as disappointment fills his eyes.
“Disappointment...This is what one feels when the person who should be standing with you, stands on the opposite side.” I deliberately eye the distance between us and glance back at him.
“Alpha,” Emma calls Donovon, then comes and stands beside him throwing a dirty glare in my direction.
I would like to hear her screams when I will claw her eyes out.
Fire lowly growls.
"It is just gross," I reply to her as I mentally cringe, ”I will not make my hands dirty by plucking her organs out."
Turning his head Donovon angrily glare at her while a threatening growl erupts from him, making her instantly take a step back.
“This is the difference between us and others, Donovon.” I point between me and him with a smile, completely ignoring Emma's presence, “We are one. My every step will be equal to yours because we are destined to walk beside each other... Not to walk behind each other.” I raise my eyebrow at Emma who is clenching her jaws in anger.
“Won’t you wish me luck like you do every time when I have a fight?” Emma says glancing at Donovon whose eyes are just on me. “You are my lucky charm, Donovon.”
My heart aches to see them together, but this is what she wants. To hurt me by trying to show me how much strong relation they share.
But what she doesn’t understand is that nothing can be stronger than our bond.
“Please, do wish her like you always have.” I smile, concealing my emotions, “Because this time she will actually need all the luck.”
“Nobody has defeated me, ever,” she says overconfidently.
“Good.” Arching my eyebrow, I smirk, “But keep in mind, I am not a nobody.”
Just before, I am about to step into the training ground a voice clearly echoes in my mind.
I trust you.
A genuine and a big smile appears on my lips because I know this voice belongs to my Wolfie.
I promise, Wolfie, I am not going to let you down.
