Chapter Warming 56

Chapter 56

Within a minute, the sales assistant returned with a forced smile.

Lorelei’s voice oozed with arrogance as she asked, “Is it done?”

“Sorry, ma’am, but your card has insufficient funds.”

Lorelei was stunned. Then, she retorted, “Impossible! I have over two million dollars on this card.”

The sales assistant politely explained, “Ma’am, this pair of rings cost 8.88 million dollars.”

“What? What kind of rings cost that much?” Lorelei shouted, losing her composure.

Sabrina was also taken aback by the price.

“Ma’am, these rings were designed by the famous international designer, Shirley. They are unique in the world,” said the sales assistant. She had a hint of disdain in her eyes.

Upon hearing the name, Lorelei fell silent. She knew of Shirley’s reputation.

“Oh, Ms. Robinson, it seems like you don’t know its worth and don’t have the money either. But you said you were going to buy it, didn’t you?” Bailey suddenly chimed in, mimicking Lorelei’s earlier

sarcastic tone.

“How about I lend you some, huh?” Bailey said, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow.

“You two wretched people set me up!” Lorelei yelled, pointing at Bailey and Lucille.

Bailey rolled her eyes and retorted, “Ms. Robinson, please open your eyes wide and take a good look. Since you entered, we haven’t done or said anything.

“We even willingly offered you the rings, but you kept yapping non–stop.” Bailey might not be much of a fighter, but her sharp tongue was unmatched.

She sneered. “And you’re the one who insisted on buying them. We never forced you.”

The sales assistant seemed to have regained some confidence. She coughed and asked, “Ma’am, how would you like to pay?”

Lorelei was completely dumbfounded. She had never experienced such embarrassment in her life.

How was she supposed to pay? She had no idea how to handle this situation. She only had two

million dollars on her.

She had initially assumed the rings would cost a few hundred thousand dollars at most; she hadn’t realized that they were so expensive.

She didn’t dare to ask her father for money. If he found out, he would likely break her legs.

Lorelei’s gaze shifted to Sabrina for help. “Sabrina, I..

Sabrina was also astonished by the turn of events.

Noticing Sabrina’s hesitation, Bailey said with a sly smile, “Sabrina, aren’t you, the chief perfumer at

Johnson Group? Don’t you get monthly dividends? Surely you wouldn’t refuse to help your darling cousin–in–law, would you?”

Upon hearing this, Sabrina’s eyes flashed with malice. Bailey was clearly trying to trap her. She had money, but over eight million dollars was a significant amount.

“Ms. Robinson, it looks like your best friend isn’t so willing to help you with this small matter,” Bailey taunted, proving she was just as capable of stirring the pot as Lorelei and Sabrina.

Feeling cornered and embarrassed, Lorelei looked at Sabrina with a questioning gaze.

Sabrina’s heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t married Harold yet and still needed Lorelei as her pawn.

Gritting her teeth, she said, “Lorelei, don’t worry. I’ll pay for it. Consider it a purchase for myself. I can wear these rings for now since the ones Harry and I are having custom–made aren’t ready yet.

Besides, it’s a design that Harry would like too.”
