Spencer watched as Lucille and Bailey whispered among themselves a distance away. He smiled, enjoying Lucille’s rare display of liveliness. She’d been rather reserved with him so far.
Bailey sneaked a look at Spencer’s face before nudging Lucille gently. She smirked and said, “Not bad, babe. Mr. Layton’s a good catch! His hot body and good looks make his money and power seem negligible!”
Lucille was lost for words. Bailey raised an eyebrow cheekily and said conspiratorially, “Looks like you won’t need to worry about not being satisfied. Speaking of which, is he good in bed?”
Lucille wanted to crack Bailey’s head open to see what was inside. She narrowed her eyes and threatened, “Say one more word, Bailey, and I’ll take back the bonus I’ve promised you!”
At that, Bailey immediately clutched Lucille’s arms and said, “Wait, don’t! That and this are two different matters. As your friend, I’m just worried about your quality of life! Don’t you get that?”
Lucille said huffily, “No, I don’t.”
Bailey wanted to say something else, but Lucille stopped her. “Alright, that’s enough. I have to head to Layton Manor with him.”
After that, she hurried to Spencer and pulled him into the car. She didn’t give Bailey the chance to say anything else.
Spencer went along with her and allowed her to drag him away. This was her first time taking the initiative to hold his hand.
Behind them, Bailey cried cheerily, “This is Lucy’s first time dating someone, Mr. Layton. Please be more accommodating of her if she shows you any of her bad habits!”
Lucille was rendered speechless. She wanted to seal Bailey’s mouth. She got into the front passenger seat and said, “Let’s go.”
Spencer looked at her meaningfully.
She asked, “What’s wrong?”
He leaned toward her, making her instinctively back away. Then, the sound of a belt being buckled rang out. Spencer looked tenderly into her eyes as he said, “Your seatbelt.”
She blinked at him and said, “Oh.”
Her lips fell open naturally. Spencer stared at them, and his Adam’s apple bobbed. They were so close to one another that they could feel each other’s warm breath.
Lucille saw his Adam’s apple bob. Damn it!
Bailey had been standing outside and watching things play out the whole time. Her eyes widened as she stared at them.
She clenched her fists and held them up to her lips while trying to suppress her excitement. Was this something she could see without paying the price?

Spencer suddenly asked, “Was your friend telling the truth?”
Lucille’s mind had short–circuited a little. She stared at him in confusion. “Huh?”
“Is this your first time dating someone?”
She hadn’t expected him to ask her that. When he didn’t receive an answer, he leaned a little closer, making her shrink back a bit more. “Hmm?”
Lucille immediately said, “Yes, it is.”
Spencer asked, “You’ve never had feelings for the Quall fellow?”
This was also beyond Lucille’s expectations. She answered truthfully, “No.”
She wasn’t lying. At most, they were more familiar with each other than most other acquaintances because they’d known each other since they were children and had been engaged.
Lucille was so nervous that she didn’t know where to put her hands. She balled them into tight fists while resting them on her lap.
