Chapter 42
The drive have been going on for hours. after trying to bring up little conversations for the hundredth time, Max finally gave up.
The mood and vibe every other person in the car have been giving is kind of annoying, but on the bright side, the silence in here is kind of peaceful. Everyone minding their business gives me time to think about my life.
"Go and get yourself something to eat. I don't think we'll be getting another chance anytime soon." Max said when he pulled up to a gas station.
I jumped out of the car after giving him an approving nod.
Moving straight to the mini-mart, I took time, picking up one snack at a time, making sure I had enough even though I knew the rest don't need anything to eat and they probably wouldn't.
I skipped to where I was supposed to make the payment and handed Max's card to the sad looking, uninterested guy in front of the counter. I don't blame him though, having such a boring job in a place like this. It is close to empty, I spotted only a few people. I'm not surprised though, it is located at the exit of the town, and very few people follow this particular road. It's one of the most deserted places in town.
"Move." I heard from behind, turning to see who it was, I saw a really tall man, standing with a frown on his face. I moved away from the counter slowly, the man's tired eyes glued to my face.
As weird as it may seem, I couldn't take my eyes off him, I wanted to, but I just couldn't. There was something about him that was off and I just couldn't put my finger on it.
I got to the door my eyes not leaving the man for even a second. He, on the other hand, was busy paying for what ever it is he got himself.
He raised his head, obviously tired of the disturbing stares I was giving him.
Just when our eyes met, it hit me! I finally recognized this dude, But it was too late because he must have realized who I am too.
I didn't wait for any signal or warning, clutching my nylon bag tightly, before sprinting out of the mart.
I turned back to see if I had kept enough distance between me and the vampire dude, to my surprise, he wasn't chasing me, maybe he didn't recognize me after all, or maybe he isn't a vampire and I have only been paranoid. But i could swear i felt it.
Letting out a sigh of relief, I slowed my steps but my eyes were still fixed on the door behind me, the thought of the guy jumping out and chasing me on my mind.
Just when I was about to fully relax, my body came into collision with a strong wall. Turning my head to face my front, I reassured myself that it wasn't a wall but a huge man standing in front of me.
The same man I saw in the mart, the same man I was running from for no good reason. The same man I suspected to be a vampire, _well obviously, he is.
The frown that was once on his face is now replaced with a mischievous grin.
"Pleasure to finally meet you Kara." He said in a very interesting accent. I didn't know what to do at the moment, running isn't an option, and even though I have my powers, I was never properly taught how to use them, especially in situations like this.
So, I did the only thing that I could do well, I closed my eyes and tried to teleport to where the car was parked. But I was a bit too late, before I could teleport successfully, the mean grumpy boy man vampire held on to me and we appeared in the car together.
"Help!!" I yelled, getting the attention of Josh, Max, and Heather who were already outside, probably stretching and getting fresh air.
The guy grabbed me tightly and I could tell he was going to teleport with me. Max and josh got to where we were in time both of them using their fire element to attack the guy, at the same time, trying to make sure they don't hurt me.
The guy let go of me, in order to dodge the fire balls Max and Josh were throwing at him. He looked even more furious than he did in the shop.
Heather ran as fast as she could to where I was standing in a daze, and grabbed me, taking me to a safe place before she joined the guys in the battle.
I felt so stupid and useless, the fact that I was just a burden to them was clear. The only reason they had to stop in the first place was that I was half human, so I need real food. And then I was attacked but couldn't even protect or help myself.
.
They kept on fighting, every one displaying how powerful they were. Heather was up with her earth element, looking sexier and sexier with every stance she had, her reddish hair making her look like a character from some movie. while Max and Josh had their fire, and as funny as it sounds, the attacker was using the wind element, just like mine.
The fight was getting heated, and it was becoming a bit too obvious. I turned around to see if people were passing by, thanks to our lucky stars, there were non, the place was perfectly empty, and there were only people who were driving their cars, I doubt they will have the time to pay attention to whatever it was that was going on.
I looked back to where the mini mart is located, hoping the attendant haven't heard or noticed the commotion outside. There was no one standing there, so I'll just assume that he isn't interested in things that weren't his business.
Turning my attention back to the fighters, I noticed Heather was hit roughly by the man and was now sitting on the ground. Wow, he must be really strong to have the energy to knock Heather down even though Max and Josh were there.
Max ran to check on Heather while Josh charged towards the man. He looked very enraged at the moment and one couldn't blame him. Heather might be new, but that doesn't change the fact that we are a team, even for a second.
Josh was using all his might, throwing fire balls at him non stop. All the attacker could do was try his best to send the fire balls away using his air element.
Heather got back on her feet, with Max by her side, they stormed to where Josh was, backing him up, and taking the attacker by surprise.
He was clearly losing and it looked like he'll need a lot of miracles to win this fight.
Max and josh created the biggest fire ball I have ever seen while Heather pinned the guy to the floor. and that was when I knew that this was the end for him. Getting rid of him is the best thing to do, if not, he'll leak our whereabouts to the Prince and that'll make the end of our mission.
.
It happened so fast that I don't even know how to explain it even though I was watching the whole thing.
All I can say is, one second he was pinned to the floor and about to be barbecued and the next he was standing right beside me, his mischievous grin back.
