Chapter 40. Red Fury

A/n: Some gore and grime are in this chapter, if you are sensible to that, please read with care! Enjoy, to all the other people who are just as crazy as me! 💛

Doreen

All I could see was red!

I don’t know how many of these men I had knocked away from me, but I was using all I had to get them to stop what they did to my man! And I don’t know what the ghost was trying to protect me from, but this fury is amazing! I felt amazing! No one can take me down now!

One by one I kicked them in their face, stomach, arms and legs. Bones snapped, concussions occurred and even one of them tried to run away from me, but I caught him by his neck and threw him against the wall! He instantly fell unconscious from the impact and I chuckled.

Then, when every one of the boss’ guards had been stopped from attacking me, there was only him left! The one with the electrical rod, the one that made Jack roar in pain!

“You are next!” I yelled to him as he looked in horror around him.

But I didn’t care what was around me, all I cared for was for him to be dead! To feel the same pain as he had afflicted upon Jack!

I stalked my way closer to him and in a rush of fear he had turned on the rod and swung it in my direction. But I guess that the rod had reached its limit, as when I caught the rod with my bare hand, it didn’t hurt that much. It sizzled my skin, but the pain wasn’t unbearable.

“I guess the battery has run low!” I chuckled and shook the rod out of the guard’s hand.

Then I held the rod as it was supposed to be held and pushed the button on the hilt. The guard yelped afraid, begging me to not hit him with it. “I’d do anything, but please, don’t kill me!” He said but it was too late for him.

I took a few steps closer to him, while the rod was charging. He came in contact with one of the outer walls of the barn and was shaking violently in fear, as he knew that he had nowhere to run. I chuckled from seeing the sight of such a large man, fearing for his dear life, for what a little female like me could do to him.

Slowly, I moved the rod towards his body and when it touched the skin of his neck the man roared and screamed in terror. First, I wanted to pull the rod away, but I was enjoying the sound that he was emitting!

So, I kept watching.

His body sank to the floor, but all I did was keeping the rod against his skin, enjoying the sizzling sound it was making. Quickly, I saw black lines form on his face and neck, probably electrical burns, and I was enticed by the figures those black lines were making. They looked like the roots of a big tree, swirling everywhere along the base of the skin.

So, I kept watching.

The skin around the spot where I was keeping the rod in place, was now near charcoal black as the continuity of the electrical surge was burning his body. But I liked to see how far the skin would burn, before the battery would finally be drained empty. And I smiled at the thought, poking the man again, with another surge.

So, I kept watching.

Jack

My body was healing already, because even though I’ve now been made a rogue, I have still Alpha blood inside of me. So, now my vision was starting to get clearer and I could see what kind of carnage Doreen had left behind and gasped.

Everywhere I looked was blood! A massive amount of hunters had been torn to shreds as abdominal lashes made the guts pour out of a few, where limbs lay separate from their owners, where heads were bashed in as if a wrecking ball had been working out here!

No explanation from whatever witch could have prepared me for what I saw now! That this was one of the possible outcomes, should Doreen be brought in between her human form and her bear!

I looked around me to see where she was, but could hardly detect her body as it was completely naked and fully covered in blood! She had probably been shifting half way, making her to shred her clothes in pieces but kept continuing to fight, as she wasn’t aware of her own doing!

I saw patches of fur on the back of her neck, along her spine and also here and there on her legs! Her feet had contorted into a strange shape and her hands were halfway shifted into claws!

She was poking the now half blackened leader of the hunters, with the electrical rod, probing to see if there was some juice left to torture him with. But by the look of his body, he had been dead for several moments already…

I still couldn’t move much, but I tried to call out to her. “Doreen?” I whispered, but all she did was chuckle and kept poking the man some more. She doesn’t hear me, she is completely consumed and crazed out by the fury that has washed over her! She has gone berserk!

Suddenly, the barn ripped open and Bertha, together with the men she had gathered and my sister Vic, came storming in. I was surprised that Bertha had managed to gather these people, but was also happy that I would be in debt to a pack that was nicely acquainted to me.

They looked in horror at the massacre that was around us, one of the men even stepped out of the barn and hurled his stomach contents out. “For the love of the Goddess!” Bertha yelled, but Doreen still didn’t respond. “Doreen?” She softly called out her name.

“She can’t hear us and I can’t help now either, you guys have to approach her with care, maybe even shift, because she is stronger than anyone of us.” I said, while grabbing hold of my arm, which is probably broken.

She did this?” One of the men asked as he pointed to Doreen. I nodded and in return they all cursed and gasped.

Three of the men shifted into their animals and walked over towards Doreen with some other men. And Bertha and Vic dragged me to one of the corners of the barn, where no mangled body laid yet.

One of the men carefully stepped closer towards Doreen, trying to get her attention away from the dead body she was still poking at. They started off gently, not wanting to get her crazier than she was already. But she only responded when one of them gently touched her shoulder.

She jumped up and immediately began to slash around with her half shifted claws! The men stepped back in surprise, not expecting a tiny crazy woman to have such power, even though the evidence of her strength was littered all around us! They tried to subdue her, holding her arms and legs tight. One of the men, who shifted into a leopard, even managed to put his jaw around her ankles to keep her leg where it was supposed to be.

Doreen was shouting and yelling, wanting to break free from her hold, but it was as if she was possessed by a demon! As if this was all a scene from one of those horror movies I got to see once!

“How do we get her to snap out of this!?” One of the men asked, but I didn’t know that answer either.

I was just in shock to see my lovely little woman, who always had been gentle, who always only ever thought about others first and never took anything for granted, to be in a complete crazy state that she was in now.

“I, I don’t know…” I stuttered.

“Where is her necklace?” Bertha suddenly asked and I wanted to slap my head for that question. Of course!

“She had been dragged outside by two hunters, to hold her there. So it could be lying with them.” I replied while I looked at my mate.

Vic and Bertha immediately ran outside to look for the necklace, while the men and cats kept Doreen in a hold. One of them even reached out to the back of the barn and grabbed a rope from the wall and then tied Doreen’s arms and legs together so that she couldn’t do any of us any harm.

I dragged my haunches towards her when she was secure, but she was still screaming and yelling, trying to still fight off whatever she thinks is surrounding her. And when I looked her in the eyes, she did the same to me and I hoped that she would recognize me, but I was in no such luck. Her eyes were shaking and her mouth was foaming while her slightly elongated teeth were trying to bite me.

She looked awful, but she was still my mate! I really hoped that the necklace would help…

“Found it!” Vic yelled and ran up towards Doreen and me.

I took the necklace from her and with my one hand I put the medallion on Doreen’s chest. It took a little while but her claws were starting to retract, her black fur that had sprouted along her neck and spine were disappearing, and her eyes started to turn back to normal as well. Even the bite wounds that she had around her limbs, from the leopards and tigers, were starting to heal immediately.

“Doreen?” I asked her gently and she blinked with her eyes a few times.

Doreen

I opened my eyes and I could see Jack kneeled down next to me and I wanted to move to hug him, but I couldn’t! I felt that my wrists and ankles had been wrapped up and I figured that those hunters outside must have taken hold of me like this.

“Why am I still tied up?” I asked Jack and he looked worried.

“What is the last thing you remember, love?” Jack asked in return.

“I was being held back by those hunters outside, have you brought me back in the barn?” I wondered and suddenly Vic crouched down next to me and unleashed the ropes from my hands and legs. She even helped me sit up and only then I made myself aware of my surroundings.

I was facing one of the walls and saw a white leopard standing right next to me and two orange tigers standing right next to Bertha on my left! But there were also a few other men in the barn with us that I could see standing behind me, forming a wall of the other things that must be behind them.

But even though I was surprised to see those extraordinary animals, knowing that those must be shifters as well, I needed my questions answered.

“What happened? Did you manage to fight the hunters off?” I asked those other men and animals.

“No love, you did that.” I snapped my head towards Jack and looked surprised. “I did that?” I asked utterly confused.

Vic helped me to stand up and I thanked her for it, but when those other men stepped aside and showed me the carnage behind it I instantly fell down again.

Everywhere I looked I saw blood, the complete other side of the barn had been painted red and was littered with body parts! I couldn’t believe that I had been able to do all of this, but then slowly I started to grow back my memory. Flashes of slicing claws, strong punches, wild kicks and heavy growls came rushing back into my mind and I gasped in horror!

My hands flew to my face as I wanted to cover myself, but when I looked down at my hands I screamed in fear! My whole body had been covered in blood and everywhere I looked I saw hairs that weren’t my own, little parts of skin that weren’t my own and everything else that stuck to my body of which I didn’t know of whom it was!

“Get it off! Get it off!” I yelled and screamed frantically, trying endlessly to rub the blood and grime from my body.
