Chapter 15.1
We came to a unique building, entering in and sat down, Wolf told me the school calls it the quiet room, there was couches with pillows scattered on the around the floor and across and around the couches themselves.
At first, I didn’t understand he brought me here instead of a gym. I was going to asked him but he stopped me and we sat crossed legged across from one another.
“First close your eyes and listen to your own breathing.” He instructed.
I nodded and did as told, listening to the flow of air coming and out of my lungs and nose. I did that for who knows how long.
“Good” he spoke as if he was far away. “I want you to slowly ease your listening to some other places” I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion but did as told.
I eased my listening to around me and slightly started to notice the subtleness of the wind and the breathing patterns as well.
His breathing was raspy but calm yet his heart beat was steady but once in a while quicken because of something I assumed. My focus soon noticed how the air would trickle up the windows trying to escape the inside to flow out the creaks to the outside.
Somehow my focus automatically switched and it focused on the outside to how the farthest pebble shifted by being moved under some feet outside. A sudden shift in the floor board creaked and I snapped my attention to it.
“Open your eyes” a soft voice, but it was barely audible.
I opened. My eyes and found myself peering into Wolf gold green eyes.
“Remember to always keep your senses on an alert because even some slight movement may be deadly or someone trying to help you in the short amount of time.”
I cocked my head a bit, “it’s simple training that can keep yourself alive” I said in the faint voice.
Wolf nodded and stood offering me his hand and I took it. He led me to the gym now.
“Remember to bring all sense into training, don’t just fight because its power. Do it because it will save your life and help other warriors.”
I hummed a nod and stepped into the gym with him.
Wolf went over to the weapons rack and picked up some batons turned back to me and threw two in my direction. I caught them felling the hollowness in them.
“At first I was going to work hand to hand combat but you are good at that already so we will work on how to defeat and attack. If you lose a weapon while opponent still as a weapon, just keep fighting” he finished and went into position.
I smiled, “this should be fun.” I mirrored him and already he attacked me from the overhead that I thankfully caught and blocked it. But I keep forgetting how strong he is and struggled against his weight.
Twisting his batons and freely pushed him off heaving a heavy attack on him. But he expected it and like a feather I was to him blocked and dodged my hits. It wasn’t painful. All it was is up and down hits with a few swirls adding in.
Except I must have been not paying full attention when I lunged upwards and Wolf got a foot hold somehow twisting my right baton out of my hand.
It was two against one. I froze but Wolf came up to me somehow allowing my body to react defensively.
“Don’t freeze” Wolf voice.
Somehow the snapped me out of my daze and I went back into fighting mode.
Flawlessly countering his attacks with two batons and my one baton.
He came at me again with two, I don’t even know how I did it by swirling and locking his arm into my armpit and stab, more like hit his baton out of his hand. And heard it softly hit the matt below us.
He sneered at the pain and threw me off.
He stood and I stood now facing each other circling around one another watching and sensing what the next movement would be. Prowling like a predator.
“Good attack” he replied crouching more, “now see if you can get the other one.”
I smirked.
We came at each other like we were fighting swords, yet an in-between to hand in hand combat fighting.
Sweat was beading down my forehead and I hoped it didn’t slide into my eyes as it would sting. Problem was the sweat was somehow a distraction as I left myself open and felt the other baton be knocked out of my hand.
I stayed frozen for a second processing what just happened and how it happened but I forced to quickly process as Wolf was already coming at me.
“Don’t freeze!” he repeated in annoyance.
I tucked in my elbows and kick, well tried kicking away Wolf weapons as well him.
We both had raspy breathing, he tried coming at me while I did spins and punches with enough force to get well away.
“Good job” Wolf voice husky, “see if you can end it”
I could barely hear him as my breathing was in my ears and heart beat pounding. I needed an opening and soon remembered Dimitri lessons. Blind Spots. That soon changed my thinking process and I was well more aware of what was happening. I needed to try something hoping it would work.
Wolf came in for another swing of his weapon and I side stepped caught his arm with the weapon in and brought my knee up to his stomach. Elbowing his hand.
He crouched forward in pain and half twirled hitting his ass forward. The weapon plunked down and Wolf fell to the ground with a slight groan from pain. I exhaled in pride. I defeated him and disarmed him. I walked over to him and smiled.
Though too soon for victory as he struck. Wrapped his hand around my ankle pulled me down with a yelp and somehow, I found myself pinned underneath him. Looking up into his eyes and both our breathing was heavy from the movements.
“Remember blind spots, good job on that” he smirked, “but always remember you are vulnerable till your enemy is completely down.”
I couldn’t speak but soaked in his words and nodded. He was beautiful.
Wolf smirked and leaned down kissing me with his soft lips.
In a flash he got up bringing me along planting me on my feet.
That was the end of our session and Wolf and I left the gym and cooled off by walking through a beautiful stained-glass hallway. The light shone a mixture of multiple beautiful colours as they were reflected onto the stone floor.
Suddenly Wolf had to leave leaving me a lone to enjoy this art form by myself.
I pondered my thoughts looking at the glass. I couldn’t quite understand it all as some scenes depicted figures that I could not understand.
I kept pondering who the figure was in my thoughts and walked a little bit more till I saw the end of the tunnel hallway and a bench built into the wall where someone was sitting on. Reading some book.
Walking closer I soon was approaching him; I had no idea who he was till he turned his head lifting his gaze to me and smiled. It was Kieran.
“Hi,” I sounded sarcastically enthused and force myself stopping for some reason.
“Well, I see your excited,” he replied then mumbled something, “You don’t hide you dis-improvement well,” he smirked
I ignored his comment and somehow found my legs and began moving them away from him.
“Where are you going” he asked, mildly curious.
I turned to him with distaste, “well I am heading away from you, hope that is clear,” I sassed with my hands on my hips.
“Whoa” he said putting his book down then hands up in defense, “just trying to have a nice conversation with you”
I rolled my eyes, and Kieran patted his hand on the empty space beside him.
“Join me and we can talk like civilized people” he gestured.
I sighed again, but I felt an instant pulse run through my body, commanding me to go sit with him, slowly I walked over to where he was as my legs felt like they had no choice and sat next to him. I looked sideways at him and he amused by my reaction.
“Well,” I demanded.
“You are interesting gal, I might add” he said and came a little closer to me. Making me lean back as I could smell him. It was an intense smell, intoxicating one.
“Stop staring and just be with me” he whispered, his smile was with interesting.
“Well, my day was good, till I ran into you.”
He was a taken aback.
“Wow you are feisty…aren’t you” he tilted his head with a curious look.
“You make me uncomfortable” I shifted rigidly almost to the edge of the bench and painfully rose to my feet, but he reached for my wrist and pulled me back down next to him.
I felt warm and found some strength whacking him away and shot up again standing.
“You are just rude; you think you get what you want when you can’t” I raised my voice in anger and began to turn away again. But he caught my wrist again and stood beside me turning me around to face him. He was close and towering over me.
“You call me rude and other things but tell me this” his red gaze looked down and at me. Our eyes locked and I felt like I couldn’t escape. My mind was disoriented.
“Tell me that you feel a connection you can’t break and don’t know to how to leave” He said coming in closer. My heart was beating like a drum hard against my chest.
The words flew out of my mouth.
“How do you know about that?” my voice shook with worry.
“Because I fell the same way, except that one night when you broke it, I felt cold and confused,” he was coming closer enough to take me into his arms.
Inside my head I was screaming to get away.
“It puzzled me, till I realized you used the power of Kadea to free yourself” he lifted his hand to my cheek and caressed it. I winced at his touch as it felt like scorching heat, he smiled.
“You know I couldn’t figure it out but now. I know how to get around it”
I didn’t want to know how.
I breathed heavy, and could smell his hot sweet but sour breath.
The words were not my control.
“How did you find a way?”
He was happy that I asked him and had joyful eyes to tell me. Dark joy though. He leaned in with only our faces inches apart. I could feel his body head getting hot. He whispered.
“A kiss” he leaned in. I could feel his lips crash against mine, he was hard on my lips, not gentle. He was hungry for this kiss. I tried to break free but he was strong keeping me in place, then the only thing I knew. I lifted my knee and kicked him in the crotch. He staggered back breaking his kiss and shrieked in pain.
“What the hell?” he hollered at me in disbelief.
Now was my turn.
“Don’t even touch me again, and besides I didn’t give you permission to kiss me nor get close to me.” I snapped with anger.
He was still crouched in pain and stared at me but somehow regained some composure. “Mark your words Asema, you watch yourself” he rose to stand again and gave a dangerous look. Which frightened me and I began backing away from him.
I turned my back and sped away to my dorm.
After that moment with Kieran, I did not feel safe. Since that moment, days to weeks have gone by and I never saw him. Happy about that but also frighten, I asked Wolf to be with me but if couldn’t Emily. Soon I was never by myself unless in my dorm. With weeks gone by so quickly a month had come and gone allowing winter to stay and be on the freezing side. There was something cold coming and it wasn’t the weather.
