Chapter 15
I sat on the floor in front of the window allowing the sunrays to fill me up with warmth. I was still trying to understand what was so moving in or unique about last weekend or more like the two weekends ago.
It got me a bit confused.
Wolf and I were in fire, being affectionate with one another. Could say we were together but not officially. Maybe if I talked with Emily, she might clear some things up.
I gaze at the door behind and on cue with my thoughts the door opened and there revealed Emily who instantly beamed when she saw me. I rose up from the ground just in time to catch her while she almost tumbled me to the ground.
“Oh Asema, I have missed you, you have no idea how different it is at home,” she squeezed me tighter. “Family is crazy” Finally she released me and ran back to her bags and threw them on her bed and plopped down with them. I crossed my arms over my chest and smiled.
“Stressed?” I amused a joke.
She rolled her head to me and did a pretend in pain nod, least I thought she did pretend. The rolled to her side with the bed creaking a bit under her weight and rested her head on her hand.
“How was the break for you?”
A smile crept onto my face as I found myself sitting on my bed and face Emily.
“What’s with the smile?” she teased while swirling her finger at me.
“My break was good; Wolf and I spent a few days on the school grounds escaping into winter wonderland. Then…” I paused thinking how the full moon celebration really went.
“What?!” Emily gasped jumping to sit upright urging me to go on.
I took deep breath and remembered the night.
“He took me to a full moon celebration at his pack, and later we danced, heat was consumed and we eventually made out by the sea in the woods. With tress covering us which led him to agreeing to teach me how to fight like a warrior, brought me back the next day and last week I been compilating things about him and I”. I looked at Emily who was gaping at me. Soon she composed herself.
“That sounds way better than my weeks of holiday.” She puffed out slamming her back into the bed.
I scrunched my eyebrows, “What happened?” I knew something would have to do with Kieran what else.
A huge sigh came from Emily as she stared at the ceiling of the canopy bed. “It first started with the arrival of the two of us, there was hugging, murmurs of and question of Janelle disappearance. How the family was so glad that we were okay and how everyone has missed each other. But Kieran went straight to his quarters only giving my parents a curt nod. After the few days all my siblings got together and enjoyed each other’s time, though Kieran didn’t interact once. I mean we were all little sad and bit worried about our lost siblings but we knew other were looking for her.”
“I mean” she shifted to her side again, “no really cared about him…but after several days, no one missed his presence till he was ordered by my father to attend one meeting.”
“That must have been a treat” I replied with sarcastic smirk.
Emily eyed me, “You have no idea, Kieran sat close to my parents and all of us chatted amongst ourselves of memories of Janelle and with each other. To plans for the future…till Kieran spoke some dreadful words.” She shuttered just at her own memory. Stayed silent.
“He said, ‘look at this we are the picture-perfect family of ancient royals’ that silenced the whole table and he continue knowing he had our attention. ’It’s not a shock that none of you are seeking Janelle since her disappearance as if you don’t care because of the life style she chose. It’s also not a shock that none of you are strong enough to figure out the power of this damn family. Or seek a old way of ascending the throne” she swallowed as she may have had a lump in her throat.
“Why do I have a feeling it gets worse.” I said but it was more like a whisper.
She gazed at me, almost looking into my soul.
“I quote, ‘this family is a lie and a joke all too caught up in lives when reality you would probably would’ve found our sister considering our size and many warriors we have, but reality it a silent blood bath for the crown.’ he stared at my parents like they were his enemies, ‘you two are pitiful excuse for parents and royal, you could care less if a child is missing and you have no right to wear those crowns…your future is nothing.’ Then he rose and left leaving us all in confusion on what brought those words to his mouth…but I did have a sense of guilt as there was some truth to it.”
I couldn’t reply because I was not sure what to say.
“It’s okay, to get off this topic,” she almost pleaded.
I nodded, “well I believe Wolf and I are officially together even though I wasn’t sure moments ago least I think that’s what we are.”
Emily jumped into a sitting position looking perky, “well that is exciting, if he a good kisser?” she urged like a teenager.
I blushed while nodding.
She screamed and giggled. To then there was a knock. Both of us short our focus to it and I suddenly remembered Wolf.
“Who’s that?” Emily asked, almost concerned.
I rose from my bed, “coming,” I shouted at the door” and fitted a jacket on, for good movement.
“That’s Wolf, we are doing our first training session today,” I sat and put some shoes on possibly good boots as I stared at them.
“Oh” was all Emily replied.
I opened the door to a Wolf who was dressed ready for action.
“You ready?” he asked already leading the way, I nodded and followed him closing the door behind me.
