Chapter 16
As winter went on so did my training with Wolf. Learning defence and offence. It was becoming intense and not easy as I was expecting. It did help me understand a few things when comes to fighting, as in Combat tactics is almost childs play as there is more to taking your opponent down. Watching their steps and advances, to also knowing you should not a times take the first advance rather study then attack.
Sweat would drop down on our foreheads and glisten our skin. We always ended the day with smirks though knowing I was improving and Wolf teaching was good. One thing I have learned, training like a Kadea Warrior was harder than combat class. Combat tactics is a like a baby in training.
Wolf was a good instructor; it was just I had a hard time keeping up. At times I had to forcedly make Wolf chill and let me breathe.
I slumped to the mat one time breathing and gasping for any air that would fill my lungs.
Wolf sat beside me allowing me to catch up.
“I warned you in the forest that things like this would be hard” he reminded me, as my mind went back to the interesting night that turned into something steamy.
His lip grazed across my skin up my neck to my chin reaching my ear. I shivered in content, “Are you absolutely sure, it will be hard” his lovely voice whispers.
“Yes” I raspy force my voice while being indulged in his pleasure.
“Okay...” he trails off and leaves a kiss from my ear to my lips soon capturing them. Softness along with hardness captures me as our kiss becomes intense with coolness of the air kissing my bare shoulder.
“I know” I breathed. Then shut myself up and forced a stance. Wolf followed suit and we went at it again hand in hand combat. I would throw a few hooks and kicks while Wolf dodged them or caught them holding them in place while giving me pointers on how to improve the next attacks.
Slowly as the hours of the days went on my fighting skills have become better.
Taking a water break I was gasping for air again.
“Why did you want to do this again” Wolf asked as if he was double checking my request.
“Feels like something I should learn…why did you agree to it?” I countered him.
A smiled spread across his face, “because I thought it may be fun.”
I shook my head and laughed.
We went at it again with me on defence, crouching and jumping at his advance. I felt like a frog jump around in a pond.
I suddenly found an opening.
“Asema sweep me off my feet” he roared possibly aware or unaware of my opportunity. I took a full twist and last minute went low just barely catching my feet and tripped him then jumped onto his making sure he stayed down.
“Okay, good, remember to always know where you opponents are,” he muffled under my weight.
I rose up and he followed and we went at it again, but Wolf last minute threw in two rods.
“Again, really knock me down.”
I nodded and there our rods went, from banging noise and grunts from our breathing. We hit each other often unsure who was at who. But this time I felt I was dancing around him while propelling my weapon like a propeller. Hits with footing that matched each other we almost looked beautiful machine. If our fighting didn’t look rough. I lunged froward to whack his shoulder, though he caught my arm and pulled my forward to a twirl. That then had my back to his chest.
I made a noise and my back hit his chest and soon found that we landed hard on our back onto the matt.
“That needs improvement” he whispered in my ear. I elbowed him and roughly got my balance on my feet again. But ready for Wolf who did nothing.
I raised my eyebrows in confusion. He took my weapon and his, placing them on the weapon wall.
“Enough for today, besides we need to train in the snow for climate training.”
Shrugging I took a towel and wiped away the excessive sweat away.
“Library?” I suggested.
Though he gave a grim look, “Sorry I have to do something later today…maybe next time?”
Pursing my lips, I nodded and headed to my dorm.
Once I showered and put different clothing on, I made myself comfortable on the couch in the room.
The evening had come earlier and the moon reflected lightly onto the snow that was faint in the room. Upon realizing I haven’t encountered Kieran even when I was alone for a bit. But I was pleased he stayed his distance and that was all I wanted.
I gazed over the room seeing the two twin beds and how they casted shadows from the light insides. Emily was probably out with Damon. Though that decision of thinking didn’t matter.
My gaze stopped on the book shelf and I crept to the familiar black book, the prophecies. It was generally something I kept coming back to. I popped myself on to my feet and strolled over to the book shelf and grabbed the familiar material while plopping myself back down.
I flipped through it opening and did the usual scanning of pages. Though something caught my eye, at first, I thought it was my imagination but I flipped back to where I saw it. The text was now red.
The warrior will be chosen and shall
Become the greatest in history ever to known.
I just sat there and stared at the text. Who could that be? Except that thought was short as I didn’t realize how fatigue I was from all the training that has been happening.
I pushed the thoughts aside and placed the book on the coffee table. Stood up and even though early for bed, I needed some rest. I laid down and looked at the window since it was closer to my bed. One more time looking out I could faintly see the moon shining through some clouds. Dimming the snow outside.
