Chapter 21.1
The same lush green and rocky mountains greeted us as we entered into a valley with oddly shaped walls now that we see them up close. Looking around the afternoon sky greeted us but I felt something odd. The nature was different here is felt a different alive than the other surroundings did.
The warriors began forward staying alert just encase something might happen. But I stood there, something was not right.
I knelt to the ground placed my hands on the ground thought of nature and air. Allowing it to speak with me.
What are you?
There was a loud but soft rumble amongst the rocks, they were beginning to move creating a earthquake type of shaking. I lost my footing and fell while I could hear the men shouting of fear on what was actually happening. The ground was coming alive.
Wolf was by my side trying to lift me up but the ground beneath us was shifting.
A rocky like being, began standing least twenty feet high, breaking away from the mountains walls as if it was waking up from a slumber. It eyes opened and looked around and oblivious to us down below it feet.
“Earth Giants!” one of warriors roared and began running.
Wolf yanked me onto my feet and we began running as more of them woke up groaning with thunderous sounds as if there was a lightning storm above. I didn’t realize how many of them were till we have to forcefully throw ourselves back at one their footsteps and knees were pounding around us. We would’ve been squashed if we were under them as their force left indents in the ground. Just like a equator would if a comet ever came down.
The warriors were shouting trying to keep each one alive barely escaping death.
“Intruders” One of the giants roared, as it was ear piercing, I covered my ears from the sound but Wolf rough grasp my arm and kept me moving.
“Crush them,” Another bellowed. I now feared as now the intention was to kill us.
“Run, we cannot to defeat them.” Brock shouted as fear was wrapped around his own voice.
Wolf’s hand was still wrapped around my arm and was pulling me but we had to keep dodging the feet and now hands. It wasn’t any good as the ground rumbled around us not keeping steady. I looked around glancing between the giants and warriors avoiding them. Fear was grasping me. What were we to do?
Wolf almost had us in the clearing but the ground slipped from our feet and we rolled into each other arms landing hard into the ground I heard Wolf groan pain as my own jaw clench from impact. A shadowed appeared over us and life drained from me. It came down and Wolf shifted on top of me protecting me from the foot.
“Stop please, we mean no harm” I screamed, eyes closed.
The foot hover just above Wolf back. He was gripping my head into his shoulder. We were still alive at the moment. The ground was cool but damp against my skin. I opened my eyes slowly and did Wolf, we stared at one another as the shadow of the foot removed and placed right beside us.
“What did you just say?” The giant seemed surprised.
Wolf didn’t move his position but twist enough to see above us and as did I. A rocky silhouette probably staring down at us.
I repeated my words, “Stop please, we mean no harm”
Wolf twisted his face back to me, colour drained from his face as he stared at me with curious but stunned face.
“You speak our language?” The giant asked.
After the rest of the giants were convinced by the one who was about to crush us. We rested in the valley as the sun had begun setting, all us still shaken to what just happened. We had a set a fire to keep us warm but we also had tents and jackets.
We, well I learned and translating the giant’s language, that they were outcast from their colony because of their actions towards their leader. The only reason why they stopped was because I could communicate with them as not many know earth giant languages in particular theirs.
Upon listening and translating I was in Wolf’s arms keeping warm. He had his arms wrap from behind me but more tightly as he was ready to throw his body over mine to protect me again. Seemed like him and the other warriors were still weary about this situation.
“You child, come here” The giant with rougher rock texture to him, he was the one who almost stepped on us.
I rose from my feet and already the sharp coolness of the night wrapped around me creating shivers through my skin.
I moved to the giants but Wolf hands launched onto my wrist, I turned back to him. “Wolf it is okay, I will be fine” I assured him even though he had so much worry in his eyes, he nodded and lightly loosened his grip on my wrist and I had to yank the rest of it out.
I made my way to the giant and he placed his hand on the ground. I made no movement just stared at him.
“Get on child, we want to see you” His voice rough and still sounded like a thunderous roar.
I took a shaky step and knelt onto his hands and held firm to my balance as he lifted his hand to the sky above leaving me to see the warriors below turned to ant shape size. I could still make their faces but just barely. I was soon eye level with all four giants, glowing eyes of grey, with silver green and yellow. I soon felt unbelievable vulnerable. I shrunk under their gaze wondering what they would do.
“We are not sure what it is, but you bring light, a sense of hope to this world” The one with grey yellow eyes spoke.
“Yet you seem unsure about yourself, as if you are not fully embracing what you are truly” glowing grey eyes said.
I realized moment later they didn’t tell me their names as we did told ours. But now I didn’t think that mattered.
“Be warned child, some giants can see or foresee as they are nature. There is a feeling amongst us ancient ones as well any other creature that lives from beginning of time.”
I scrunched my eyes, “What do you mean be warned?”
They all stared at one another as if communicating silent messages.
“We feel and see that dark and light will struggle for power, causing unbalance in our world. “
“We warn you to be careful of your powers, as you, light of hope will be answers but also leave questions.”
I stared at them. What were they saying?
“You mean Kieran curious thoughts of me being this Light is not just a thought but true?”
They nodded their heads. “He only speaks truth to you as he cannot lie. As you cannot save him.”
The one holding me, began lowering me down to the ground and I slipped back down to the solid dirt and rocky ground. I turned to the giants but they slumped into the mountains becoming part of it again. I stood there in shock, the truth he had always been telling me the truth. Why should I believe giants that we just met? I am not sure, but someone else saying confirmed something I was denying myself of.
The truth of who I am.
