Unknown Darkness (2)

Chapter 22.1

Fire crackled under voices as Brock and Wolf were planning with me about the new operation, how it would go about. Occasionally my mind would wonder to the trees where the mansion sat. The light was so dim a little dot to be pluck out by darkness. Sometimes I would have the fear that he could see our fire but had to keep reminding myself that we are cloaked with magic so there was no way for us to be found. Just fear of me draining my powers. Luckily the other warriors had strength to help me take some rest.

“Asema,” Wolf voice brought me back to reality again, “We need you to focus okay, you will be leading beside Brock as your power is got us through the first barrier.” He reminded me again. As this must have been the fifth time my mind wondered off.

I put my attention on both of them and nodded in understanding my role.

“So, let’s go over the plan again” I said, as I confessed. In a way of silently saying I wasn’t listening.

Brock huffed, but Wolf took my hand squeezing it. Reminding me he was there for me.

“Tonight, we attack. But only a few hours, so get some sleep, we wake and I need you beside me as we go forth. Anything as a barrier, you destroy as you can kill it. Don’t do anything unless you know its safe and I can give my men the ‘go’” Brock said, as he was frustrated having to repeat himself again. But there was small smirk as he was happy that was last time he repeated it.

This time fully aware, I nodded, “Yes understand.”

“Good…now get some rest.”

Still dark out after the slumber but it felt like a new time. I quickly shuffled in the tent allowing Wolf and I to throw on our clothes and getting our gear ready. The dark night air brisk was nice against my skin as if was waking my skin and myself up.

Unzipping the tent and coming out there stood Brock with other warriors coming out their tents. We all gathered around the now burned ashes of the fire and continued breathing in the cool crisp air.

“Let’s do this” Brock spoke and started forward with me by his side. We began lightly jogging.

I was surprised my knife on my thigh was not moving and faintly hear the other warriors catching up on me as it was the rustle of the silent leaves that made some noise. It was dark but it did not seem like it, just seemed like the moon came out at the right time lighting up the pathway for trees and grass. Casting pale light green shadows.

Suddenly a big shape came up right beside me and I almost screamed when I realized it was just Wolf in his Lycan form taking long strides besides me making sure I was obviously safe.

We entered into the trees that rested beside the mansion. Rustling of the leaves became louder around us. I motioned everyone to be quiet letting rustling soften in noise but smashing of the leaves still are bit loud. It was till we were right at the house that I noticed a force field that protected the house that we all had stop. Not knowing the damage if we smacked into it. I reached out and placed my hand on it.

“Ouch!” The thing zapped me.

Though this time I did same thing but barely had my hand on it but close enough that I could feel some vibration from the force.

Swallowing slowly. I felt the warmth against radiate throughout my body to my hand hovering over the force field.

I could hear footsteps around me and come close to the force field.

Okay” I whispered, “Warriors on my count, I am going to break it, brace yourselves.” They did.

I started pressing, though I pressed with warmth of my power. I pressed till it was painful that the force was pushing me back enough that my hard could be taken off. It becoming painful that I wanted to cry but I bit into my lip and seconds later, like a snap or shattered glass the force field came down and dropped down like sparkling dust.

I slowly took a step forward touching with my foot around the area where the force was placed. I walked a few more strides forward. I did a turnaround facing Wolf and Brock.

“Slowly advance to all existing entrance or exits.”

With that somehow, I could hear everywhere rustling of leaves and slits of sharp weapons ready to plunge into an enemy.

I could now sense that the warriors were ready to advance now.

“Brock” I spoke softly, “On your command.”
