Unknown Darkness (2)

Chapter 20

Since I was able to find the location of Kieran, they allowed me to part of the operation even though there some were questioning how I was able to find him.Especially so quickly. But questioning and judgement stares would have to wait at the moment. The operation of arresting Kieran was being held in a spacious room on the top floor of the silver stick tower. Apparently, there are windows in here as the sun shone brightly making you feel that you are outside. The walls were a beige to white making the sun seem brighter in the room to a almost blinding white.

We sat as a medium side rectangle table. With maps and list of what was going to happen and when. A few more warriors had joined but they never bother to introduce themselves as they kept to Broc, since he was the captain they would be listening to him.

The warriors were two dirty blondes with stern faces and other three were varieties of brown hair with also stern faces. Their bodies built as shown years of training and Wolf had to whisper what they did, apparently specialize in capturing runaways. Bodies built for any condition. Which is probably why they are coming because we are going into a unknown area.

“Alright” Brock raised his voice, breaking me from my observation of the warriors, he was standing with his back against the windows forming a soft silhouette. “Many of you are questioning why she is here,” he points to me and immediately I feel out of place as all five of them look at me but return their gaze to Brock immediately.

“Normally I would say to a parent stay behind, as we rescue or go find their child, but since this situation is much different, she will be coming as her expertise in fighting is just the same as you and she seems to be a real asset to this team.” Brock announced allowing me to feel that he truly saying those words.

“Now,” he approaches the table. “Here are the maps and list of where we are going and what we will need. Review them and ask questions, I will give full summary in a few minutes.” And walked away only around the table to Brock who gazed up at me as I was going to say something to him.

“I am a asset?” my voice sounded astonished,

Brock doesn’t smile, but stares, “You became an asset when you flew that course with flying colours, and the fact you said that you are familiar with his ways.”

I crinkled my eyebrows together, “So what purpose to I have here?”

“To fight alongside with us,” Wolf said, my gaze slid over to him, “Beside if you fight like that and have the intention of getting Junior I pretty sure he would be happy to see you again. ”

I smiled, nodding. “So, when do we leave?” I was scared to ask the question as the words somewhat trembled out.

Brock turned his attention back to the men and table. I guess I was about to get my answer.

“Summary of this, I believe we leave in two days for packing. We take the portal and arrive a few meters away from the mansion. We saw giants’ footprints so be wary if they are still around. Otherwise, you are dismissed, take your information and pack for the days to come.”

They all nodded, as I kept repeating two days in my head, wondering if that was soon enough. I brought my attention to the window and found myself walking to it as paper rustling amongst quiet chatter in the background from the warriors. It soon drowned out once I made it to the windows edge and they entered into the lift.

I stared out onto the city as we were facing south harbour and watched as the city bustled below, not a care in the world. The sun shone brighter on the silver buildings, bringing a blinding light towards me. I ended up squinting my eyes at the city till a hand was placed on my lower back creating me to silently yelp. Realizing I was in a trance of some sort still fathoming two days. I looked to Wolf and he joined my gaze to where the city was out there and we were in here.

“I know two days seems forever, but for Warriors of Kadea that is very short time to prepare for something.” Wolf voice was trying to be soothing. I only nodded bringing my gaze back to the city.

“I guess it just I am worried, Brock really must trust me and you to go along and find Junior while getting Kieran.” I whispered even though I intended to make it loud.

“I do trust both of you,” his Brock broke our attention away from the window. We turned to him seeing that he stood stern and only a few feet away from us. “Thing is, you seem to foresee things, you have this light that might weaken Kieran and you” his gaze moves to Wolf, “It’s well-known fact the Kieran Equitem-Draco, now Crimson is terrified of Lycan, so you are good for distraction.” his eyes then went to between us, he turned and walked away entering the lift and the doors closed after him.

The evening sun came sooner, either that or we were just busier from what was happening. The dark oranges and purple glaze across the silver buildings creating this wonderous abstract art. Wolf and I only entered into the house when it opened again right after us with slam. We turned to see Emily who seems to be battling emotions. She looked extremely worried, to the point she wanted to cry as her eyes glistened. She to wanted to smile and force herself to be happy.

She stared at us as we stared at her.

“Emily what is wrong,” it was Wolf who spoke.

Her eyes darted from me to him but then back to me.

“I have news but I don’t know how to process it.”

I bit my lip and gestured her to the plant room, but she shook her head and make her way to the kitchen and plumped herself down into the wooden chair while Wolf and I followed her with caution.

“I will make tea” Wolf whispered as he made his way to kettle. I nodded and sat across from Emily in the dim light kitchen dining area.

“What is wrong?” I questioned since she was now staring at the floor.

She whipped her face up and stared at me. “Damon is no longer being questioned…he is free to be with me” her voice soft as a smile curled around her lips only momentarily.

I was about to congratulate her as Wolf placed a small mug in front of her with steaming tea. She took the tea and held up her hand to stop trembling. She not cold, something else.

“The reason for that is to prove himself,” she took a sip and her body somewhat began relaxing. Shoulder not trying brush on her ears.

“Proving himself.” Wolf repeated he stood with his arms cross head tilted wanting to hear more.

Emily, colour began to fade, “In order to be with me he needs to help me find the power of Equitem-Draco, prove that he wants to be with me and not a rebel who wants to overturn the kingdom with others…. he accepted…we leave tomorrow.”

My eyes went open and Wolf seemed to stay still. Now I was understanding why she was happy but also worried. No one was able to figure out Equitem-Draco powers as I remember from our chat back at Sky High.

“So, do you least have leads and how much time do you have?” I question my voice silent even though it sounded loud in the moment.

Her red sad eyes looked at me, telling me exactly what she was saying. “We are going to see if the dragon temple is true or a myth… and we only have two weeks.”

I swallowed, as she stood and was about to make her way to the door when Wolf stopped her and brought her into a hug. I stood, then slowly made my way to them.

“If you need any help, just say 'please, help” he speaks his language in the last words.

“I don’t even know what that means?” Her voice croaks.

Wolf smiled and stared at her, “say that and Lycan who are near will come, they only come to that statement because no one knows it unless you know as alpha.”

He hugged her again, and she turns to bear hug me. “I hope to see you in a few weeks, stay safe.” She whispers in my ear and walked out the house.
