Unknown Darkness (2)

Chapter 17.2

Asema.

I was standing before the warriors, my heart beating faster with every step I got closer to them. They were staring me down or ready to launch an attack I lifted my hands towards them and thought of air moving them away.

Move.

Right then I cleared a path for myself with couple of warrior struggling to get up and others gasping. Since the pressure of I commanded keep them down. I ran for the course when a few of the same warriors got back into my way somehow escaping my trap. I looked at them and was about to flip them away with flick of my hand when they started throwing punches at me. I duck without effort, spinning around at them and kicked them away with great force.

Casting them to fly away like ants in the wind. When I didn’t feel anymore of them around, knowing I was in the clear, I ran for it to where the course started.

I jumped the wall, while my hands and feet scraped the wall getting up. I bit down from the sudden pain but pushed it back. I landed hard on the grass making a soft noise and made it to the next station where had the logs and trip wire from a distance I could see.

Approaching the next station another warrior surprised me, by standing in my way pointing a rod at me to fight him. Looking around me to find a rod or something, there wasn’t, but that didn’t matter he started to swing at me. It was a bit tricky as he swung towards me setting myself to trip on the wire and logs without me knowing where to step without falling.

I fiercely looked around while to see where I was stepping as well trying to avoid the hits from the warrior. Seconds I found his strategy of trying to hit me. Without realizing I was half way through the wires and logs and I reached grasping my hand on the hard wooden rod. Ripping it away from his hands and swiftly knocked him off his feet. Turning around planting the rod into the ground and lifting out and over the wires and logs and flawlessly into the air. I started running again.

Wolf

She was absolutely flawless, he couldn’t believe she was going through this course without any mistakes. She was practically lightening flowing smoothly across the field, jumping on the obstacles and defending herself as if the warriors were nothing then just toothpicks being broken or swept away by the wind. Wolf glanced around himself and noticed other levels of warriors seeing this action and soon became spectators. He realized, they too were amazed as not everyday they see a woman go through their course. This oddly gave Wolf some hope of what was to come of the future for this world. He brought his attention back Asema.

Asema

I slowed down to a stop, there were three weapons placed on the ground with their hilts facing me in front of another warrior who stood there.

“Choose weapon” He spoke.

I looked at the weapons, there was curved blade, a metal rod and a arrow but no bow. I looked at them and before I could ponder my thoughts, he came at me with a dagger. I Reacted, wrapped my hand around the bow, the smoothness of the base as the string whistle in the wind.

The warrior came down again on me with the blade and I swung up hitting the dagger out of his hands in one swipe. Swung the string around his neck whipping him in mid air flinging him away. He laid there hands in the air in surrender.

Rushing to my knees I saw the climbing rope and jumped for it, as my feet left the ground felt space and gravity were nothing.

My hands wrap around the rope andgrabbed tightly onto it, I grunted at the climb. I looked up and started to climb, almost felt like gravity was on my side with every pull up I did it was effortless. Or possibly adrenaline.

I reached got to the top another warrior was standing there. I waited for a moment to see what he would do, but my questioned was answered when he brought his leg up and kicked me off the edge. To which I began falling, a second of confusion mind did not stop working, I reached fiercely for the rope that my hands slid down on burning my skin. I cried for a moment of pain, but forced it down climbing back up just at the edge and sprung over the edge enough to catch warrior off guard. Pinning his face down on the wooden platform.

There was a moment of silence, I was waiting for anything. More surprises and unknown warriors hiding in the shadows. It was quiet. I made it to the end.

A distant fade of clapping hands came into ear shot, I looked up and saw the warriors along with Brock and Wolf all applauding me. They were spectators, watching a show of sport and I was the subject.

“That was outstanding” Brock shouted. Clearly happy by my performance.

I smiled letting loose of the warrior and he and I climbed down the wooden tower. I approached Brock and Wolf but I heard a knife being whipped out of it’s hilt. Same noise I am use to when Kieran would throw knives at his target. The sharpness that flowed across the blade and hitting the target hard with a hard thunk. I reach for a blade near me and swiped across the field and heard dab hard into wood.

“Asema…you are done…” Wolf said loud enough for only me to hear.

Looking at him, my breathing became fast. What was he talking about. I turned to where I threw the knife and saw that it hit a target dead center, it had cut off a warrior’s path, inches away from his chest. The warrior looked stunned and slowly brought his gaze to me.

“Well… the only person who could ever have done that good would be Kieran” Brock said quietly.
