Chapter 48
“Me?” Rick asked surprised, “You’re here to see me?”
Sara smiled.
“Yes. Do you have a problem with that?” she pulled out a gun then and aimed it at him. Rick automatically took a step back.
“I..uh..guess not.” He stammered, his eyes fixed on her finger, which was poised on the trigger.
“Don’t move.” She told him, when he started backing away. “I know how to use this and I’m not afraid to, especially on you.”
Rick cursed under his breath for telling Tony to take the rest of the day off so he could spend some time with Abigail. But that was before he knew she was going to walk out on him. Now the only security he had, were the two guards outside at the gate and he had no way of reaching them since Sara was standing in front the intercom. How could he have been so stupid? Abigail would have his ass if she knew about that. But first things first, he had to keep Sara talking.
“What’s this all about?” he asked her calmly.
Sara’s expression darkened.
“What do you think this is about Rick?” she asked harshly, “Or should I say, who?”
“Sara I don’t have a ..” He paused as it suddenly hit him, “OhmyGod! Chrissy?” he croaked, referring to Sara’s niece.
“Bingo. She was only seventeen Rick. Seventeen when you took advantage of her!” Sara shouted at him, aiming the gun higher at his face.
Rick put up his hands.
“I never took advantage of her, Sara.” He said, shaking his head.
But Sara wasn’t listening.
“She was a young girl. A beautiful, young girl. Of course she had a crush on the famous Rick Camden. You told her all the things she wanted to hear and ended up with her in your bed.”
“That’s not how it happened.” He protested.
“She told me everything!” Sara shouted, “How you took her innocence.”
“That’s not true!”
“Liar!” she fired a shot which hit the wall, near Rick’s left shoulder. He winced and ducked.
“Don’t worry, I wasn’t aiming for you, yet.” She said.
“Sara, listen to me.” Rick pleaded, putting out a hand, “Whatever Chrissy told you is a lie.”
“She would not lie to me!” Sara said firmly.
“She was not a virgin when I slept with her.” Rick said, “And I wasn’t the one that did the seducing.”
“Christina would never… how dare you even suggest that—“
“Because it’s true Sara!”
The two security guards came barging through the doors then, obviously alerted by the previous gunshot. But they were both caught off guard as Sara shot the first in the head and the other in the chest. They both fell to the floor unconscious.
Rick’s jaw dropped in horror as he stared at the scene before him.
“I told you I knew how to use this.” She waved the gun, “Now then, where were we?”
“You killed them?” Rick whispered disbelievingly as he stared at her, “Who the hell are you?”
Sara smiled at him.
“Someone who’s been waiting for this for a long time.” She answered, “I can’t believe your pretty, little detective couldn’t figure me out.”
“You?” Rick shouted, “It was you who’ve been sending me those notes? You’ve been stalking me?”
Sara nodded obviously pleased with herself.
“Why?” Rick asked, nothing at the moment seemed to make sense.
“Oh come on Rick!” Sara rolled her eyes.
Rick thought about it then gaped at her.
“Sara, this can’t be because of what happened with us?” he asked appalled.
Abigail came barging through the door at that very moment and nearly tripped over the bodies that lay on the floor. She did manage to hear Rick’s question to Sara and stood there frozen.
Sara turned to her and smiled.
“Well, well, look who’s finally here.”
