Truth, Lies and Deception (the boyband series)

Chapter 49

Abigail’s heart stopped when she saw Sara pointing the gun at Rick. She also held a gun in her hand, which Sara obviously noticed.

“Drop the gun, detective.” Sara told her, “Or your boyfriend here gets shot.”

“Don’t do it, Abby.” Rick said, his gaze still locked on Sara, “She’s going to shoot me anyway. Just get out of here.”

“I can’t leave you alone!” Abigail told him worriedly. Where the hell was Tony?

“Aww.. how touching.” Sara said sarcastically. “And he is right though. But since you’re here Abby, why don’t you stay? Don’t you want to hear what happened with us?”

“Sara—“ Rick began, but was immediately cut off.

“Don’t you think she should know Rick?” Sara asked him.

“Nothing happened!” Rick insisted.

“I do want to know.” Abigail said when curiosity got the best of her.

Rick sighed and Sara smiled brightly.

“First drop your gun.” Sara said again.

Abigail looked at Rick, who instinctively looked back at her. She could see the raw fear in his eyes even though he was trying to be brave, so she laid the gun on the floor at her feet.

“Slide it towards me.” Sara instructed again. Abigail obliged. Sara picked up Abigail’s gun and pointed it at her, “Now then, Rick do you want to tell her, or should I?”

Rick shook his head so Abigail looked at Sara.

"About six months ago, there was this huge party. You know, one of management’s big functions. Alex was really sick that night so he didn’t go but he knew how big that party was so he told me to go without him.” Sara began looking at Abigail for her every reaction. “That’s when Rick started hanging around me.”

“I wasn’t hanging around you!” Rick protested, “I just brought you a couple drinks. You were by yourself Sara. I was just being a friend!”

“You got me drunk and then you seduced me!” Sara shouted at him, “Just like you did with Chrissy!”

“I did NOT get you drunk and I most certainly did NOT seduce you!” Rick argued again.

“Will someone please tell me what happened?” Abigail joined the shouting match,

Rick looked at her. They were only a few feet apart and he felt that whatever was said next, would determine just how close they would stay.”

“Abby,” Rick looked at her, his eyes pleading with her to understand, “We were both drunk that night. All I remember is getting into that elevator with Sara. The next thing I knew, I woke up and there she was in bed with me.”

“Liar!” Sara shouted taking a step towards him, the gun aimed at his head. They were both a fair distance apart, but Rick knew that if Sara aimed at his head, she wouldn’t miss her target, “You weren’t drunk! You knew exactly what you were doing that night!”

“I did not have sex with you Sara!” Rick told her firmly, “I would not do that to one of my best friends!”

“Yeah right. The famous Rick Camden. Girls throw themselves at you all the time, but you don’t want them do you? You want the ones you can’t have. You want a challenge. Just like you wanted her.” She nodded her head at Abigail, “Just like you did with me.”

Rick shook his head furiously.

“You were the one that begged me to take you up to your room. That’s the only reason I got into the elevator with you.” Rick told her, “You know what? I think you’re trying to twist things around so that I’m the one to blame. I think you wanted me to seduce you. You were the one that got me into the elevator.”

“So you admit to seducing me?” Sara asked.

“I admit nothing.” Rick returned.

“Do you wanna know what I think?” Abigail who had been silent throughout the argument finally spoke up.

They both looked in her direction.

Abigail faced her squarely.

“I think you were attracted to Rick.” She told Sara, “I think you took the opportunity of being alone to seduce him, you may have even been the one to get him drunk. But either way, you were the one that wanted things to end up in bed and lucky for you they did.”

Sara’s expression turned dark as her anger turned to Abigail.

“And why would I do that?” she asked Abigail harshly.

Abigail shrugged.

“Like I said, you were attracted to him. I think you were even jealous because he didn’t feel the same way about you. That’s why you had to seduce him. That’s why you’ve been trying to scare me. Because you were jealous of me.”

Rick saw out of the corner of his eye as Sara’s finger pressed the trigger of Abigail’s gun.

“No!” he screamed as he ran towards Abigail just as Sara fired the shot. But it was too late, the bullet caught Abigail in the chest and she fell to the floor unconscious.
