Chapter The Wrecking Glass
I let the phone ring I knew I would be falling under his command again, so instead, I avoided it.
Then I received a video clip from his number, that left me no choice but to ask for my parents’ help I walked out of my room and knocked on the door of my parents’ room.
My dad opened the door “What is it Dais?” He asked.
“I need to talk to you both!”
Mom reached the door too “Is everything alright?” She asked.
“It’s just I’ve promised myself not to keep anything from you both” I inhaled deeply, I told them everything about Peter and me.
Dad facepalmed, I pulled out my phone and played Jordan’s video on my phone.
“Daisy, I have a gift for you” Half of his face was in shadow, and then he turned the camera towards someone, I could only see an ear and a jaw and a lot of sweat on it, I had a feeling it was Peter.
Then he turned back the camera but toward the cracked glass this time “I hope you know where to find me” He whispered.
I know it was a lot to take in so I gathered the courage to speak further “It’s okay if you don’t want to help me” I pursed my mouth.
“There’s no way we are leaving you alone! Not anymore!” Mom kissed my cheek.
The plan was to tap my phone while I talk to him.
“He just showed a cracked glass and he says I know where to find him?” I tried to think of all the possible places where we had something to do with the cracked glass but all I remembered was just one glass that was in Peter’s room and it looked nothing like that.
“Whenever you went anywhere you clicked pictures!” Mom gave us an idea, so this is where we started from.
While Dad asked his secret agent friend to get my phone tapped, I and mom took out all of my pictures with Jordan. We stared at every single detail, and each picture was checked by us more than 10 times.
I was getting frustrated I threw all those pictures off my desk “How come there’s not a single glass in those pictures?” I rubbed my cheek with my fingers, our not getting anywhere started giving me headaches.
“I need air” I left the room and went to the rooftop. I walked for a while, I was restless, memories of Peter were making me more restless.
“Why???” I yelled facing the sky “Why did you do that to me?” I collapsed on my knees.
I cried as I held my stomach, and a memory clicked in my brain.
“Yes! This is it” I rushed downstairs “Mom the place where I had an accident! The glass factory!” I got to my room to get my phone.
“But that place is off-limits!” Dad held my hand.
“Dad… Peter believed in me when no one else did! I beg you…” Dad left my hand.
After arranging everything as I expected I got the call “No one is coming with you Daisy! Right? Otherwise, you know what will happen?” I looked at my dad and responded to him “Yes I am alone”
When I hung up I got closer to my dad, “Once I will get him out of there I want you to send them in!” Is whispered.
Dad was turning pale, he was scared, anyway… I sat in my car.
I was close enough when he called me again I received his phone and got out of my car, I walked closer to the building, it wasn’t only off-limits but it was wreckage as if it might come down any second.
It was abandoned so there was no one, I looked at the broken glass at the front and a flashback of my car pulling all the way toward that glass and hitting it replayed inside my brain.
It was a long building with glass at every corner even the exterior of this factory itself was mostly made of glass and maybe this is the reason why it was off-limits and illegal.
I shook my head to concentrate when I heard him speaking on the phone “I think you are here now!”
“Where are you?” I asked when I heard groaning “Don’t you dare hurt him!” I gritted my teeth.
“I will if you don’t do as I say!” His voice wasn’t decent anymore, he unveiled his inner evil.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Not so much! Just follow the cracks! And keep your eyes open!” He acted like a jolly little kid so maybe he would look cute but I was getting annoyed even just by his breathing.
I turned around when my eyes stopped on the cracked glass, I followed the path where it had this cracked glass “It is not crack! It is more like scratched with something sharp object” I said when I reached a staircase.
I climbed up and then there was another path surrounded by glasses.
I kept walking until I saw another path “I am bored! Let’s play a game!” He acted the way he used to before we got married, his jolly behavior was driving me off the edge.
“Haven’t you had enough of your games?” I turned to the left where I saw another scratched glass “I have crossed 3 cracks yet! How many more to go?”
“Just a few more! Okay so now tell me your favorite food! If you’d tell me yours I will keep it to myself and then I will ask Peter! If his answer is the same then we…”
He stayed quiet for a few seconds then he continued “Then we will clap!” He giggled “But… Oh! Sorry… Peter’s hands are tied to his back… mhmm no problem buddy I will clap from your side”
Peter was groaning with agony I could sense it, and his mouth was tied.
I stumped through another glass when I reached a room that was completely empty “I’ve crossed six and I am now in the middle of…” I was still saying when I noticed I was standing in the middle of a star surrounded by a circle that appeared to be made of chalk or some white powder.
