To My Shattered Soul

Chapter Forgotten Accident

“What kind of sick joke are you playing?” I growled with anger “Tell me where are you now, let me teach you a lesson!” I yelled.

“Ahanh! Don’t you dare leave that place!” He turned grouchy all of a sudden, he hung up then he video-called me.

He was on the top floor or somewhere higher, he was showing me a star made on the ground with a circle around it, just like the one I was in.

But it wasn’t me in the center, it was a man tied to a chair “You are in there safe and sound! Now the choice is yours, either you sacrifice him and save yourself! Or… Sacrifice yourself and let him leave” He said.

“Are you in a cult or something?” I asked.

“So many questions!!!!” He didn’t answer me.

“Okay, fine I will sacrifice myself” I sat in the middle of the symbol “But in return I need answers!” I tried to control my shaking voice but I couldn’t.

“Deal! Now give me a few minutes to get him out of there!” He turned off the video call just like that.

I didn’t trust him a bit, so I waited impatiently to hear from him until I saw a shadow coming through the same glass where I came from.

It was Jordan he sat in front of me with his legs crossed.

“Where is Peter?” I asked.

He turned his phone screen toward me, Peter was lying on the floor fainted! But he was untied and probably outside of the factory.

He was showing me that video from a little less distance, I grabbed the phone from his hand and threw it away so hard that it might have been broken into pieces.

But it didn’t bother him, he cackled as if it was entertaining for him.

“What did I ever do to you?” I cried.

“Do you remember an accident you had with your family when you were young?” He asked.

“I was in my middle teens, How do you know about that? And what does it have to do anything with our current situation?” I didn't understand how he knew that, because even I didn’t remember that accident.

“You don’t remember that accident much because it was just a minor accident! But minor... just for you!” He said “Now that you are being sacrificed you deserve to know the truth” He rested his back on one of the walls in front of me “A few years back I fell in love… with Jill!

With the most beautiful girl in the school, the best partner anyone could ever wish for.

We were graduating, and we had planned our wedding!

We will go to Switzerland for our honeymoon, our kids' names will be Harvey and Jenna!

We were so excited to start a new journey in our life.

That night I was going to propose to her officially, I bought a ring for her! A diamond ring, even that sparkly beautiful diamond seemed colorless in front of her beautiful smile.

I was waiting for her at the cafe, she was driving her way to me but then a rainstorm struck the city.

I called her but her phone was dead! I waited and waited until it was too late.

When the storm was over I received a call from the hospital. ‘Jill Kelly met with an accident and her condition is critical’

I was devastated, I can’t explain how hard it was for me to take those heavy steps toward her as I saw her fainted existence all broken on the bed.

It took them 3 days to pull her out of her critical state!

She had to go through surgery, after which her life was saved but she couldn’t walk or move her legs anymore! Our dream of having children also died with her cheerful soul.

I tried to motivate her as much as I could! But no matter how much I distracted her she ended up crying, her eyes seemed dead inside.

Her wounded soul would just collapse anywhere, public places, markets, weddings.

Whenever she watched anyone running, she cried, whenever she’d watch baby clothes hanging in the market she’d cry, even visiting weddings made her cry!

Do you remember when you tried to win me over by taking me on expensive dates? Do you remember how you failed to impress me every time?

I know that feeling Daisy! Because this is what I tried too! I took her places where she could forget her pain but she couldn’t, you know why?”

His eyes were filled with hatred! He was consumed by it! He was drowning under it. I just kept my mouth shut to let him spit out everything.

“Because… One day when We promised each other we wouldn’t look back, and we would move on, that was the day we decided to act like a normal couple, go on a date, and start a new life.

She was wearing this orange skirt just for me, knowing I love that color on her!

We offered our food and I flirted with her to see her smiling.

She was finally giggling when her eyes stopped on a table and her face turned pale, her eyes filled with tears.

I wanted to see what broke her again while she just started to rebuild herself, I wanted to know the reason behind her tears, so I could pluck that thorn out of her sight, so I turned around.

And on a table with a man and woman, was sitting her daughter, smiling, enjoying her food, when my Jill couldn’t. It was Daisy Carter, the daughter of the great billionaire businessman!”

His face turned red and I felt a strange force surrounding me.

As if it was wrapping itself around me! Either to choke me or to break me, I wasn’t sure, but I felt its grip getting tighter and its claws so tight on me that my body turned numb.

I was feeling weaker with each passing second. My legs were losing strength and ability to move.

“I can’t move my legs! I can’t feel my legs” I yelled as I saw a satisfying smile on his face.
