To My Shattered Soul

Chapter Cursed Witch

“Can I ask you a question?”

“What is it?” I asked.

“I think you said, You are alive? Why?”

“I saw you jumping out of the window, I thought you were…” I couldn’t say the word dead, because it reminded me that I was the one who almost died, as a matter of fact, he also interrupted me on time.

“Wait wait! Do you think I jumped out of that window and died?” He was laughing “Let me show you something, do you know about smartphones?” He sounded silly when I frowned at him.

“Of course, I am not a thousand-year-old cursed witch”

He took out his phone and went to the window “What are you doing?” I tried to peek!

Oh, I can’t tell you how much being in captivity sucks!

Well, He came back and showed me a video on his phone, and I understood why he was laughing at me, the house was on the ground and even a child could jump out that window perfectly, but why laugh at me?

I never saw his home before, how would I know how high it was? I just saw a man cursing his life and then jumping out, it wasn’t his fault either, he didn’t know what I did.

“Oh shit!” He held his head with both his hands.

“What is it?” I wasn’t sure but whatever happened he had this ‘I’m doomed’ kind of expression on his face.

“I had an interview and I missed it, what am I gonna do now?” He punched the wall and hurt himself, he shook his hand with pain.

“What is your name?” I asked as soon as I realized we never had a proper introduction.

“Peter, Well… just Peter” He winked when he actually seemed nervous.

“Well... Just Peter! Nice to meet you I am Daisy, Daisy Carter!” I saw his face turning pale then I thought maybe it was because he knew who I was through the newspapers.

Because of the properties we’ve been selling and purchasing these days and my divorce was trending these days, “Do you know me?” I asked to make sure, and he quickly nodded.

“No, Should I?” He asked.

“Umm…” I pressed my lips harder with my one eyebrow arched, this was because I was confused if this wasn’t the reason, why he turned pale.

“Whatever, I was asking. Will that punching-the-wall thing help you get your job?” I blinked my eyes as if there’s not a single soul who’s more innocent than me but my smile on the other hand could prove I was the greatest sarcastic person alive, Or dead… or I don’t know. urrghh… whatever!!

He clasped his hands together behind his back and tossed his head.

“Aren’t you hungry? Or thirsty? Don’t you need to go somewhere?” He kept asking me questions pointing toward the bathroom and it was weird that I only had one answer for all of his questions.

And that is “No!” besides if I even wanted to eat anything or drink anything or, you know go to where we all go? How could I?

“Can I say something silly?” I smiled turning my back against him, he was listening to me “I think I am dead and it is some kind of examination” I laughed.

“And can I say something silly?” I turned toward him when I heard him “I think I am sleeping and this is a dream” For a couple of minutes we both were silent then we laughed.

He was hungry but was afraid to say so, maybe it was because he was feeling bad about me being unable to eat, but his growling stomach was screaming “Give me something you goddamn junkie! Something that I really need, not just the smoke!”

At the last growl, I broke my silence “You should eat something! I’ll be fine” I smiled and he got out.

In the evening when he came back we talked for hours, mostly about a way to get me out of that glass “What do you do for fun?” He asked me.

“I hardly got time to have any fun” I smiled with embarrassment.

“What do you mean? Why?” He sat on the bed.

“I have a company and I was working very hard on it, I barely had time for myself”

“Company?” He seemed curious.

“Yep! Actually, my father owns a group of companies and I am a part of it, have you heard about Flexabit Juice?” When I asked him he quickly jumped out of the bed and grabbed his laptop.

“No, but let me google it!” He quickly searched “Yes here it is! Beautiful packaging” He looked closely “But it is unfair.”

I couldn’t understand what was unfair about it, maybe he had some ideas to improve the product? But my assumption just poofed away when he spoke “I mean, why change appearance when you can rock the world the way you are”

It makes no sense, how could he neglect such a bitter but crystal-clear truth? The truth is that people judge others by their appearances.

“What? Do you think you are making people better because you have a right to count flaws in everyone except yourself? Why? Because you are pretty? Or perfect?” He sounded really mean, he made my blood boil and I couldn’t hold back my anger so I hit the glass with my palms.

“You think I’ve never been judged? You just saw me today and you get to judge me by my product description?

I made this product so people don’t have to go through pain every day! You really don’t know what it’s like! To be judged!

You don’t have to go through anything because you stay at home and play video games!” Without thinking twice I said so much until I realized I crossed my line.

He was silent but his eyes said it all, I was the one being mean.

“I…” I wanted to apologize but he stopped me with his hand

“You’ve said enough!” He said and got to his laptop, he wore his headphones and started playing some idiotic game with nonstop shooting and all.
