Chapter 1252 He Wasn't Proposing, Was He?
Once she packed up all her things, she followed Alec out of the hospital, and they drove to the restaurant.
"What are we eating?" Jenny was in a good mood. After all, she had worked the whole day and attended to a lot of patients. She felt accomplished and satisfied, so much so that she forgot all about the exhaustion in her bones.
Alec looked at her. "What do you feel like eating?"
"I'm fine with anything," Jenny said.
"Then you will go wherever I go."
"Okay." Jenny had no objections to that. She didn't notice anything different with Alec's gaze. If she had any inkling of what would happen after, she would not be this calm.
The car arrived at the entrance of the restaurant. It was a place they often came to eat because of the great food and good ambiance.
Jenny didn't think there was anything off about it. She followed him into the restaurant, which was when she realized that it was far too quiet. "Why is no one here?"
There were always a ton of customers in this restaurant.
"Look at the time. Who else is going to be here beside us?" Alec asked, avoiding Jenny's gaze. He was afraid that she would find out.
Jenny thought that made sense. Although she still thought it was weird, she couldn't think of a plausible explanation at the moment, so she let it go.
Alec brought her to a table by the window. The restaurant they were in was located on the thirtieth floor. They could enjoy the magnificent night view of the city from their altitude. Jenny's mood lifted even more when she saw the view. "How pretty."
"Is it? I don't think it's as pretty as you," Alec responded naturally as if nothing was wrong with his statement.
Jenny felt goosebumps all over when she heard that. "Can you stop being so romantic, Mr. Faust?"
"I'm just telling the truth. Is there anything wrong with that?" Alec raised his eyebrows. He didn't think that there was anything romantic with those words at all. It was just a normal thing to say. Maybe they didn't talk like that often, which was why she wasn't used to it.
Alec felt that he had to say more romantic things, so Jenny would be used to it.
Jenny didn't argue with him. She merely thought that he was being a little weird today.
At that moment, piano music began playing through the restaurant. Jenny frowned. "This..."
It wasn't her first time there. She didn't know that the staff could play the piano. Before she could ask him about what was happening, the lights turned off.
Immediately after, some people walked in through the door. One of them was holding a bouquet of roses, on which were strings of lights. It was then that Jenny could see who they were. "Stephanie?"
It was indeed Stephanie. However, it wasn't just her.
Leonard was right next to Stephanie, and Max and Jade were there, too. Even Zack and Gilbert were present, along with Janet.
All at once, realization dawned on Jenny. She looked at Alec in disbelief. He wasn't proposing, was he?
It was all so sudden.
"You have to be happy, Jenny," Stephanie said, handing her the bouquet of roses.
Jenny didn't refuse them. She had been looking forward to this day for a while. She just didn't think Alec would be so good at covering it up. This was a surprise like no other. Once the roses were in her arms, Alec got down on one knee. "Marry me, Jenny."
He opened up the box. In it was a large diamond ring.
