Chapter 1265 Whatever You Say
That was true, but Jenny still wanted him to sleep in his own room. "We'll be able to sleep together in the future. We should keep our distance now and enjoy whatever little time we have to ourselves." "Fine. Whatever you say." Alec didn't force it. He already guessed that Jenny wouldn't agree to it. He walked out. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight," Jenny said, waving to him as if shooing him away.
With a thud, Alec's door shut.
Jenny smiled and lay down, falling asleep quickly.
On the other side of town, after Gilbert ended the call with Jenny, he went straight home.
Jenny had been right. He'd seen Marigold today. He was in his car and had seen Marigold come out of the supermarket. She was carrying her groceries with what looked like a great deal of effort. He'd nearly wanted to go up to help her, but reason held him back. He couldn't go up to her. He had to stay far, far away from her. However, the more he watched, the more he realized that something was wrong with Marigold. She seemed thinner. Pregnant women often gained weight, but Marigold didn't.
In fact, she was much thinner. She looked like she could be blown away by the wind.
What had happened to her?
Gilbert watched her walk away. In the end, he followed behind in his car, right until he reached her home.
It was just a tiny house. It was not what Gilbert was expecting.
Logically speaking, Paul wouldn't abandon Marigold. Gilbert's money was enough to let Marigold live a luxurious life. Why was she living here?
On top of that, her belly was already so big. Why was she shopping alone? Didn't she hire a maid?
His car was parked outside the house for a long time, but in the end, he left.
Back home, Marigold's frail figure haunted his mind. He called Jenny because he was so worried. However, he had not received any useful information. It was then that he got up to find her. Although he had given her his money and felt nothing toward the woman, Gilbert felt there was no harm in caring for her a little, regardless of whether that child was his.
He didn't realize that while he refused to admit that the child in her belly was his, he was now sure of it.
He quickly reached her home. It was then that he snapped out of his trance. "What am I doing? What does she have to do with me?"
He must have been tired recently. That was why the sight of Marigold would affect him.
At that thought, he revved up the engine and prepared to leave.
However, Marigold walked out right this instant. She was holding a trash bag in her hands and walking to the communal trash can. Gilbert frowned once more. What sort of an area was this? Wasn't there a janitor around?
Based on this fact alone, he could tell that the house Marigold lived in was not a good one.
She was so rich. She could easily live a better life. Why did she want to live here?
With all these questions in mind, Gilbert got down the car and walked up to Marigold.
"Gilbert?" Marigold was in disbelief when she saw him. She rubbed her eyes, suspecting that she was hallucinating.
However, no matter how much she rubbed her eyes, Gilbert was still there.
