Chapter the Wife 13

Chapter 13 Comfort

Sally Instinctively took a step back.

Mary, noticing her brother’s puzzled expression, sneered, “Gale, don’t you know that the woman standing in front of you is the one who hurt our mom?”

“What…” Gale was instantly stunned.

Why… Why was this beautiful woman the one who caused his mother to be hospitalized?

Sally turned her head and gave Mary a deep look.

Actually, she had suspected Mary of harming Anna from the beginning

But Sally had never dared to admit it.

Because this matter also involved her own mother.

Thinking about Melody conspiring with Mary to frame her made Sally’s heart ache.

She couldn’t understand why Melody, as her mother, would always help an outsider

Yes, Mary was once Melody’s daughter, but… Mary was ultimately just an adopted daughter, right? Eventually, Mary’s family found her and took her back Melody couldn’t bear to part with her, which could understand.

But the problem was, she was Melody’s biological daughter!

How could Melody be so biased, always favoring Mary in everything?

The more Sally thought about it, the sadder she became

On countless nights, she had licked her wounds alone

It was only today that she finally accepted the fact that her mother did not love her.

Sally

She no longer hoped for any affection from Melody, her greatest wish now was to see Andy recover from his illness.

Thinking of this, Sally took a deep breath and calmly said, “Miss Mary, please be careful with your words.” Sally’s words successfully angered Mary, who couldn’t help but scold, “You vicious woman, you clearly hurt my mother. So many people saw it that day, and you still want to deny it?”

“I didn’t do those things!” Sally’s tone suddenly became a bit agitated. 1 never intended to harm Mrs. Anna!”

Everyone in the room was stunned, and the atmosphere became a bit strange.

Anders remained silent, his gaze fixed on Sally, never moving away.

Mary naturally noticed this.

Her eyes flickered, then she pretended to be hurt and said, “I know… Sally, you’ve always hated me, haven’t you? But… you can’t hurt my family because of your hatred. Boo hoo hoo…”

Mary’s actions successfully drew Anders‘ attention to her.

Anders held Mary in his arms, then looked up coldly at Sally and said, “Such a killjoy! Like a lingering ghost! Why are you still here? Get out!”

Chapter 13 Comfort

Being scolded by Anders made Sally feel as if her heart was being pierced by needles.

She held back her tears and silently left the room.

She walked all the way to the bathroom, and only when she saw no one around did she dare to sob

quietly.

Why was she sad?

Sally found it laughable.

Hadn’t she already given up on Anders? So why did his scolding still make her sad?

Sally tried to hold back her tears, but what happened earlier lingered in her mind like a vicious curse.

Before long, tears streamed down her face.

She was really tired… How much longer would these days last?

Sally bent down and turned on the faucet, letting the sound of the water mask her sobs,

“Don’t cry,” Just when Sally couldn’t stop crying, a large, well–defined hand handed her a tissue.

Sally forgot to cry, stunned, and looked up. Seeing who was standing beside her, she was surprised.

Gale still maintained his earlier posture, quietly watching Sally’s tear–streaked face, and then extended his hand a bit more.

“Wipe your face,” he said gently. “It won’t look good if your face is covered in tears.”

Sally hesitated before taking the tissue from his hand.

Gale smiled and said, “My sister has a sharp tongue; don’t take it to heart.”

Hearing him mention Mary, Sally felt uneasy.

She dared not look at Gale and only said softly, “You… you don’t hate me?”

“Hate you for what?” Gale asked, puzzled,

Sally suddenly looked up, staring coldly at the man in front of her.

He was Mary’s brother, Mary’s brother!

Her mind repeated this sentence over and over.

Shouldn’t she hate him just like she hated Mary?

But looking into his gentle and clear eyes, Sally found it hard to say harsh words.

Her lips moved, but in the end, she turned her head.

“Thank you,” Sally said. “You can go now.”

Gale pretended to be hurt and said, “Really? Miss, I came to see you out of kindness, and you’re driving

me away?”

Sally held back her tears and said, “Are you pretending to be stupid or are you really stupid?”

Gale continued to look at her with curious eyes.

Sally’s tone turned colder and a bit sarcastic, “Didn’t you hear Mary? I put your mother in the hospital. You still dare to approach me. What? Aren’t you afraid I’ll hurt you too?”

Sally’s words were partly out of spite.

In reality, she had no grudges with Gale.

But because he was Mary’s brother, she couldn’t help but vent her resentment on him.

How laughable.

Sally realized that she wasn’t particularly open–hearted either.

At least for now, she couldn’t clearly distinguish between love and hate.

Sally thought Gale would leave angrily after hearing her words, but he said, “What kind of culprit would admit to harming someone?”

Sally looked at him incredulously.

“What do you mean?” Sally asked.

Gale lazily leaned against the sink and said, “I don’t know why, but the first time I saw you, I felt you were different.”

“What?”

Gale looked into her eyes and said, “Your eyes are so clear. They say you hurt people, but I feel there might be another side to the story.”

What?

Sally couldn’t believe what Gale had said!

Ha… just consider me stupid.” Gale shrugged indifferently. “Maybe I really am an unfilial child. Even though the person who hurt my mother is right in front of me, I feel like you might be innocent.” Sally’s eyes suddenly welled up with tears.

She hadn’t expected Gale to say she might be innocent!

Everyone accused her of being a murderer, but Gale said she might be innocent!

Why was that?

Sally’s thoughts were very chaotic, but she had to admit that Gale’s words moved her.

Someone believed she was innocent. That was something to be happy about, wasn’t it?

But…

After being betrayed by those around her, Sally couldn’t fully trust Gale now.

After all, Gale was Mary’s brother.

Could it be… this was Mary’s trick to make her confess?

Thinking of this, Sally immediately became
