Chapter the Wife 12
Chapter 12 Meeting Victor
Sally needed to find a job, at least to support herself. As for Anders, she had completely given up on him. That man was colder than a stone!
In the evening, Sally arrived at the place where she would work. The job opening was at a high–end club in the city center, and they needed a few waitresses to sell drinks to the guests.
Sally believed her appearance was good enough, and since she had to wear gloves while working, she wasn’t worried about anyone seeing her deformed hand.
After she and a few other women changed into their uniforms, the manager sent them to different floors for their tasks. Sally’s workplace was on the fifth floor. As she stepped off the elevator, a well–dressed man walked towards her.
Sally intended to ignore him, but a glance at him made her freeze. This man… looked so much like Victor! Victor also noticed Sally. Seeing her after so long, he didn’t hide the desire in his eyes–though his looks were passable, the expression on his face made him seem rather sleazy.
Sally had always detested him, and seeing his lecherous gaze on her made her even more disgusted. She tried to walk past him, but Victor blocked her like a thug.
“What do you want?” Sally’s face immediately turned fierce.
The time Sally spent imprisoned by Victor and Mary was a scar she could never erase.
“So, you still remember me…” Victor smiled meaningfully.
Sally clenched her fists.
“Oh, you work here now?” Victor noticed her uniform and chuckled mockingly. “Haven’t you been married to Anders for years? What? He doesn’t give you any money?”
The word “money” clearly struck a nerve with Sally. During the years she was forced to marry Anders, he never let her work. Materially, Anders didn’t deprive her, but she had no savings either. Anders tried to control everything about her.
Eventually, Mary appeared in Anders‘ life, and his attention shifted to her–allowing Sally the chance to find a job.
Lowering her head, Sally tried to walk around him. But Victor grabbed her.
“Pretty lady…” Victor laughed sleazily, “You used to resist me and didn’t want to be with me… I didn’t expect you to end up like this.”
Sally couldn’t bear it anymore. “No matter how bad things get, I don’t need you to judge me!”
Victor was taken aback for a moment, then he laughed loudly. “Your temper is as bad as ever… Sally, why don’t you stay with me? I have lots of money for you.
Sally slapped him hard across the face!
“Ah!” Victor screamed. He quickly became furious and was about to hit back when his phone rang. He intended to hang up but hesitated when he saw the caller ID.
He glared at Sally and said, “You’re lucky this time! When I have time, I’ll deal with you!”
Victor ran into the elevator.
“Lunatic!” Sally cursed quietly, then walked deeper into the hallway. According to the manager, she

needed to go to the wine cellar on the fifth floor to get some red wine.
When she arrived at the wine cellar, the staff handed her two bottles of red wine and said, “These are for the guests in room 506.”
Sally nodded and was about to leave when the staff member cautioned her, “Be careful in there.”
Sally looked at her curiously. “Why?”
Out of kindness, the woman advised, “The guests in 506 are important people, and they have a bad temper. Be sure to be polite and don’t upset them.”
Hearing this made Sally anxious, but thinking about her livelihood, she nodded earnestly, “Okay, thank you.”
Sally carried the two bottles of wine to room 506. She knocked on the door and then walked in.
There were several people in the room. Seeing two of them, Sally froze in shock.
How could it be… Anders and Mary? What were they doing here?
Realizing that the staff member’s warning was about them, Sally forced herself to stay calm and put on a professional smile. “Hello, here’s the red wine you ordered.”
Anders‘ face darkened upon seeing Sally working here. Mary was equally surprised but soon became
angry.
Sally was like an unwelcome ghost, always appearing at the wrong time! Was she deliberately trying to be seen by Anders?
Mary felt panicked. She couldn’t let Anders have any sympathy for Sally!
Mary turned to Sally with a smile.
“what are you doing here?”
Sally wanted to roll her eyes at Mary but held back for the sake of her job. “Miss, do you need anything else?”
Before Mary could respond, a playful voice called out, “Miss, aren’t you going to open the wine?”
Everyone in the room was surprised. Sally turned to see a young man around her age, smiling at her from the corner.
Without hesitation, Sally picked up the corkscrew to open the wine. But her injured hand wasn’t fully healed, and the cork flew towards the man.
“Ow-”
The man quickly dodged.
Everyone in the room was stunned. Anders suddenly chuckled, and soon everyone else laughed too.
Sally’s face turned pale with fear. She rushed forward, apologizing. I’m so sorry. Are you hurt?”
She felt like dying. She had worked so hard to get this job. The people in this room were rich and powerful, if he complained, losing her job would be the least of her worries!
Sally nervously watched the man.
He stood up and looked at her. “Are you new?” he asked, smiling.
Sally’s heart sank. It was over. He was definitely going to complain.
“Didn’t you hear him?” Mary snapped.
The young man turned to Mary with a grin. “Sister, why are you so fierce? You scared me.”
