Chapter 65
Chapter 65 Help Me Find Her
With a leisurely mood. Gwyneth slowly walked from the outer circumference of Glacier Lake into the heart of it. She gradually noticed a problem. When she greeted the locals and asked about interesting hangout spots nearby, they would happily reply. Still, they would change their expression and leave the conversation without reason whenever the topic of the project development project was mentioned.
Gaspard’s men, on the other hand, would always tail her from a distance away.
“Why are they following us, Ms. Glen?” asked Wanda. She felt uncomfortable, probably from having been tailed for the first time. However, Gwyneth acted as if nothing had happened. She lightly smiled and intentionally raised her voice. “Our colleagues from the marketing. department, at their own expense, came to survey the development to ensure everything is flawless. Where else would you find someone
as responsible as this?”
After listening to Gwyneth, Wanda blinked a few times, ‘Why does it sound so uncomfortable?”
Gwyneth verified her doubt a few moments later, “Wanda, can you help me?”
Gwyneth suppressed her voice when she spoke, deliberately trying not to let those tailing them hear. Wanda immediately perked up and
turned serious as if receiving an important mission. She almost let Gwyneth laugh aloud. This girl is so cute.”
*Please help me check on the locals. I want to know how the talk about this project is progressing.”
“Alright. I’ll go right now.”
Wanda nodded and turned back to glance at the marketing department staff who were tailing them before leaving. ‘My instinct tells me
things are not as peaceful as they appear.”
Gwyneth saw off Wanda until she was no longer in sight before turning around and walking toward the marketing department staff.
“Fellow colleagues, we’ve walked around this place repeatedly. Are all of you tired?”
The men from the marketing department promptly nodded, feeling exhausted. Though, they had their orders to follow. They would
normally work at their department stations, following the directors‘ orders. They rarely went out to look for sales, causing them to be
unable to handle this amount of exercise, having been pampered in the office environment for so long.
“Alright then. Let’s find something to eat. The meal is on me.” Gwyneth’s pretend generosity, not letting them reject. This made every one
of them happy.
Not stopping at just having a big meal, she even found them a restaurant by the lakeside. Coincidentally, a bonfire party was underway. and they joined in on the fun. Sitting on the bench with a soda in her hand, Gwyneth smiled coldly as she watched the marketing department staff drink wine together until their faces turned red.
‘Can these old coots find any spies that are as unprofessional as them? They gave up so easily without much effort.”
A few minutes later, she saw one of them walk toward her, “Ms. Glen, what do you think about Glacier Lake after surveying it for a whole. day? Do you want to invest in it?”
Gwyneth’s opinion improved slightly from seeing the drunk man in front of her, ‘Seems like this man is quite capable of remembering Gaspard’s orders even when he’s almost drunk.‘
She nodded with a smile, “I like this place. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I’d still have the board to thank for suggesting this place.”
Having heard a solid confirmation from her, the man in front of her felt more at ease and symbolically held his cup up before returning to the party.
After about two hours, Gwyneth lowered her head to look at the time. She felt it was almost time and walked toward the crowd.
“Hey guys, have you seen Wanda? The young lady had left some time ago.”
Everyone from the marketing department was taken aback when they heard it. They knew a young lady tagged along with Gwyneth, though they did not have a solid impression of her. Seeing the sky was about to turn dark, it would spell trouble if something happened to
her.
“Ms. Glen, have you tried calling Ms. Lewis and asking where she is?” said someone from among them, not wanting an unfamiliar person to spoil their fun.
“I’ve already tried that, but she did not answer the call. I’m not familiar with this place and am afraid it would cause some difficulties if something were to happen to her,” said Gwyneth softly as she glanced sharply at each of them. It is fine if they relied on Gaspard’s order for the sake of wealth and status, but they would not be able to explain themselves if they did not feel a shred of nervousness when a young lady went missing. Seeing Gwyneth’s expression, they exchanged glances and resigned themselves to the situation with a sigh.
“Alright, alright. We’ll start looking for the young lady. Hopefully, she’s not in any trouble.”
