Chapter 66
Chapter 66 It’s Considered a Win–Win
Gwyneth clenched her fist and coldly stared at the people that had just left. It seemed like she needed to fire some people once things were settled here. She snorted, turned on her phone, saw the location Wanda sent her and left.
When she walked from the outer circumference of Glacier Lake into the heart, she saw Wanda standing at the side of the road, waiting for her.
“Why aren’t you waiting inside? The night here is quite chilly.”
“I’m afraid Ms. Glen would be unable to find the way…”
Gwyneth lightly chuckled when she saw Wanda speak up with an embarrassed demeanor. The two went toward a cafe with each other’s arm around the other’s shoulder. Gwyneth found many people gathered in a discussion when she opened the door.
“Ms. Glen, these are some locals from around Glacier Lake that manages the area around it,” whispered Wanda into Gwyneth’s ears, still feeling slightly nervous.
She had no confidence in how the situation would turn out, although she had convinced these people to meet Gwyneth. At the same time. those gathered could hear footsteps and turned their heads to look at Gwyneth.
“Ms. Glen, huh? Please, take a seat.”
Gwyneth demurely smiled when she heard that and unreservedly sat opposite the person who spoke to her. She could feel animosity from them, but it wasn’t hard for her to understand why.
“I heard Ms. Glen wants to develop Glacier Lake. I’ll have you know that the place is not something you should mess around with.”
“Of course, I’m clear about this.”
Not expecting her answer to be that direct, these people took a while before responding. At the same time, Gwyneth saw a deeper smile as she took some papers from her bag and left them on the table.
Everyone present, even Wanda, was speechless when they saw Glacier Lake’s schematic design and design proposals that were presented to them.
‘Since when did Ms. Glen do all this? thought Wanda as her expression changed when looking at the calm and composed Gwyneth.
“Fellow residents, this is the initial draft of the development layout I made a few days ago. Please have a look.”
The residents looked at each other and then focused their attention on the papers on the table. No problems were too much trouble for Gwyneth as she had prepared well.
Not only did she draw one tourist spot, but every sectioned area and even the sewerage system could be seen in detail. All the sightseeing spots and their reasons for the design, added with the assimilation of local customs and traditions, were fully explained in detail. Even a child sitting on the side was confused from hearing all the details.
To the residents of Glacier Lake, this outsider seemed to be even more knowledgeable of the place than they were. This time, their eyes brightly shone as they looked at Wanda.
She knew Gwyneth was not just putting on airs; she could actually back it up.
“Everyone present might think I’m a shady businessman of some sort since all of you had seen too many of such developers,” said Gwyneth as her smile gradually faded and was replaced by a look of sincerity.
“I may not fully understand how much attachment and reluctance you have of the original place, but I will try my best to empathize with all of you.”
After speaking up, she stopped for quite some time. She knew these people needed time to think it over, and it was not something that could be rushed. Sure enough, one among them that looked like the person–in–charge raised his head after a while, looked at Gwyneth. and pondered for a few more seconds before opening his mouth with less animosity in his expression, “Indeed, it was as Ms. Glen had phrased it. Many had their sight on developing this place, so how are you any different?”
Gwyneth undeniably liked these people; they never beat around the bush and were firm in their belief in protecting their own place. It was rare to see such a character display, making it even more precious.
“If something is not to your liking, I’d respect everyone’s suggestions and consider it.”
“How would you do that?”
“I will sign an agreement with the Glacier Lake management and will not compromise the area’s natural habitat.”
Gwyneth pointed to the papers on the table with her fingers.
“The drafted designs will not be removed, and every construction process will be discussed as much as possible before they start.”
Everyone could feel Gwyneth’s sincerity after her speech. This meant the right to decide remained in the hands of the residents of Glacier Lake. With the agreement in their hands, she naturally cannot go back on her words.
“Is what Ms. Glen said true?”
The person–in–charge asked, looking toward Wanda and seeing her heavily nodding.
“I know this is a very hard thing to accept for everyone, but I can repeat what I said earlier, and you can record it, just in case,” said Gwyneth half–jokingly, with a shrug. The atmosphere in the room lightened up instantly.
