Chapter 50
Chapter 50 Converting Liquid Assets to Fixed
Liam didn’t confirm with Gwyneth or inquire further before decisively agreeing to help her. It caught Gwyneth off guard, as she hadn’t anticipated such a swift response. Although she referred to it as her “reward,” deep down, she knew it was merely an excuse or a pretense.
Having been together for three years and being the CEO of AMC herself, Gwyneth couldn’t be oblivious to Liam’s powerful and efficient approach to business matters. The Luther Corporation was known to strike fear into the hearts of small enterprises with just the mention
of its name. And as for Liam, his enigmatic aura alone could leave anyone gasping for air.
Gwyneth never expected that Liam, with all his intensity, would agree to her so effortlessly.
Though doubts lingered in her heart, she found herself unable to articulate them. Liam had extended his assistance, and her gratitude ran deep. Yet, Gwyneth understood that any future interactions with him would likely be confined to the realm of corporate affairs.
Gwyneth watched as Liam got up and headed toward the study on the second floor, feeling a sense of unease, her heartbeat skipping a
beat.
Meanwhile, back in the study, Liam immediately made a call to the person–in–charge of the tourism development project department.
“Mr. Luther, what can I do for you?” Chuck Curington, the person–in–charge, was taken aback by Liam Luther’s sudden phone call. He wondered if he had somehow offended this influential figure.
“Mr. Curington, I’d like to consult you on something.” Liam always maintained a high level of courtesy when dealing with others. It was
precisely because of this that many people were eager to establish connections with Luther Corporation.
Chuck replied, “Mr. Luther, go ahead.”
Liam asked, “Is your department working on any new projects in the Glacier Lake area?”
Chuck replied, “Glacier Lake? Yes, indeed!”
Liam inquired, “Are you absolutely sure?”
Liam was somewhat surprised by Chuck’s prompt response. After all, Chuck was the head of the entire tourism development project department, and it was impossible to keep track of all the projects overseen by the government department. In Liam’s view, Chuck should have taken some time to check before answering, but to his astonishment, Chuck seemed very confident.
“Haha, Mr. Luther, you see…” Chuck chuckled awkwardly, his eyes gleaming. “This project has just launched, and the investment involved is substantial. It’s definitely left a strong impression.”
‘Just launched with a significant investment,‘ Liam narrowed his eyes, already knowing the answer in his heart. “Mr. Curington, do you happen to know who is the investor behind this project?”
“Well, I’m not quite sure about that. It might take some time to find out about it.”
It was the answer Liam expected, so he didn’t delve deeper into the matter. “Thank you, Mr. Curington. I’ll be sure to take you up on that
drink when the opportunity arises.“–
Chuck replied, “Mr. Luther, there’s no need for that. If anyone should be treating someone, it should be me treating you.”
After the exchange of customary pleasantries, Liam ended the call, his countenance reverting to its familiar cold and stern state. He promptly instructed Edward to summon Gwyneth to the study.
Gwyneth listened as Liam recounted the details of the recent conversation. In her heart, she was shocked by Gaspard’s audacity and marveled at Liam’s vast connections. “So now we can conclude that this matter is related to the cash flow of Glen Corporation?”
“While that person didn’t explicitly state that they were from Glen Corporation, the timing and financial status align,” Liam replied.
The answer was already at the tip of their tongues, and even a fool could understand it.
Gwyneth’s lips formed a tight line as she made her way to the cabinet beside the bookshelf, retrieving a bottle of red wine and two glasses. Carefully pouring half a glass into each, she tilted her head back and consumed its contents in one smooth motion. “If what you’re saying is true, Gaspard’s ambitions are even greater than I imagined…”
As Gwyneth spoke, Liam observed her, his finger tracing a light path along the rim of his glass. His gaze grew darker, contemplating the complexities of Gwyneth investigating her own father and engaging in a power struggle with him. ‘What must she have gone through?‘
“If we follow this line of deduction… Is Gaspard attempting to convert liquid assets into fixed ones?” Gwyneth inquired.
“Smart,” Liam complimented, lifting his glass to his lips and taking a sip of the wine. His gaze remained fixed on Gwyneth, a glimmer of
admiration evident in his eyes. He appreciated her sharp intellect.
Without waiting for Gwyneth to speak again, Liam immediately called Larry. “Investigate Gaspard’s asset movements and report back to
me as soon as possible,” he instructed with an air of urgency in his voice.
Gwyneth couldn’t help but feel that the man before her held an air of authority that she had never encountered. Liam Luther, when he let go of his CEO persona, could sometimes be a bit annoying. Yet, she often forgot that the success of Luther Corporation was solely
attributed to Liam’s unwavering dedication and hard work.
Half an hour later, Larry’s response came through.
“Mr. Luther, Mrs. Luther, there has been a significant fluctuation in Gaspard Glen’s financial movements in the past few days.”
Gwyneth spoke softly, “Glacier Lake and Emerald Trails?”
Gwyneth’s body quivered with anger as Larry’s confirmation reached her ears. Gripping the wine glass tightly, she felt an intense urge to shatter it into a thousand pieces, her frustration palpable.
Witnessing her reaction, Liam furrowed his brows with concern. He approached her and delicately took hold of the glass, offering a gentle pat on her shoulder. It wasn’t a gesture of affection, but rather an attempt to convey his empathy and soothe her troubled spirit.
“How could Gaspard Glen stoop so low?” Gwyneth’s voice trembled with disbelief.
