Chapter 21
Chapter 21 First Love Afterall 2
At the hospital, near the revolving door entrance. Gwyneth gritted her teeth, her wrist held firmly by someone. She had tried to come up with an excuse to escape Liam by saying she needed to go to the locker room to change out of her white coal. But she had not expected that she could not avoid him even after leaving through a side door. It made her wonder just how many spies Liam had placed throughout
the hospital.
“What on earth do you want?” Frustrated, Gwyneth turned to face the expressionless man. The hospital was bustling, and many people had already cast curious glances in their way. “He may have no shame, but I still do.‘
“I told you I want to thank you by having a meal together,” Liam replied calmly, feeling her cool skin against his palm, somewhat reluctant
to let go.
“Mr. Luther, your former lover is recovering well and is in a condition where she can be discharged.” Gwyneth raised an eyebrow, her voice carrying a suggestive tone.
“So?”
“So, can you stop clinging to me?” Ever since he had refused to sign the divorce papers, their entanglement had not ceased. Whether it was coincidental or intentional it angered her, and she wanted nothing more than to be rid of him quickly.
“Those are two completely separate matters. Elizabeth’s discharge and me thanking you have no conflict.”
‘They seem to be quite intimate.‘ Taking advantage of Liam’s lack of force, Gwyneth swiftly pulled her wrist free. She pursed her lips. watching him, clearly waiting for his next move.
‘She certainly has a short fuse. Liam chuckled to himself before dialing his assistant’s number. “Come to the hospital and arrange
Elizabeth’s discharge.” As he spoke, his gaze remained on Gwyneth.
Gwyneth’s lips curled up into a faint smile. She then pushed open the door and got into the car. With this entangled relationship soon to be gone, she would not be far from regaining her freedom. Therefore, going back to the Luther residence to cook a meal was not such a
difficult task.
Watching Gwyneth settle into the car, Liam could not help but reminisce about the satisfied smile she had just flashed. His gaze softened. On their way back, he received another call from his assistant.
“Boss, Miss Lisle’s arrangements are almost made. And she wanted me to tell you that after her discharge, she would like to work at Luther Corporation.” Hearing this, Liam glanced at the woman beside him for some reason.
“Boss?” Not receiving a response, the assistant felt awkward, especially since Elizabeth was standing nearby, watching him intently.
“Fine, go make the arrangements.” Liam said before hanging up the phone.
The atmosphere in the car was unusually quiet. Gwyneth leaned her forehead against the window, and her eyes closed as she rested. On the other hand, Liam gazed at her profile, already missing the taste of their previous breakfast together.
At the Luther residence, the butler, Edward Thompson, felt especially delighted upon seeing the two arrive and step out of the car together. He hurriedly went to greet them. Gwyneth, of course, understood what was going through Edward’s mind. She offered a faint smile, not wanting to explain too much. After all, it would not be long before everything would settle down. Just as she was about to head
upstairs, Liam blocked her path.
“Your destination should be the kitchen.” As he spoke, Liam placed his hands on Gwyneth’s shoulders, steering her in another direction.
He had been thinking about food all this time; he was starving.
“Mr. Luther, were you born hungry?” Gwyneth was annoyed but had returned anyway, so cooking a meal was not a big deal. Besides, she
was hungry too.
Meanwhile, hearing what Gwyneth said, the butler nearby almost dropped his watering can. The change in her personality was quite significant, and he could not accept it at the moment.
In the kitchen, Gwyneth requested an apron from a maid and assessed the Ingredients in the refrigerator. She had agreed to cook but had not promised to prepare an elaborate feast. Liam leaned against the wall, watching her figure, and was unconsciously lost in thought. In just a few minutes, two plates of spaghetti were placed on the table.
“Eat.”
Alter removing her apron and setting it aside. Gwyneth picked up her cullery and lowered her head. However, she could not help but direct her gaze toward Liam. It was not that she cared about him much, but she was rather concerned about her own cooking skills. As expected, she was quite satisfied with Liam’s subsequent behavior. His plate was completely empty in just a few minutes, with no single. noodle remaining. Liam wiped his mouth with a napkin. He had never experienced such a sensation before, the ability to taste the flavors. so vividly. The warmth and taste on his tongue still lingered.
“It seems that Mr. Luther is left wanting more. Unfortunately, I only made this much.” Gwyneth lifted her chin slightly, an air of pride
evident in her expression.
“Indeed. Do you have any exclusive recipes or ingredients? It would be a shame if I wanted to eat this again in the future but couldn’t.”
Hearing his words, Gwyneth was taken aback. Truthfully, there was no special recipe; it was just a simple, homemade dish. But seeing Liam instruct Edward to take note of the details and consider contacting a five–star chef, she could not help but feel a sense of
accomplishment.
