Chapter 124

Chapter 124 I’m A Married Woman

Today was the same as the past few days.

Hayden invited Gwyneth to discuss a project. As usual, Gwyneth thought it would be a significant decision, but it was just about the decor style. No decision was made after much discussion and back–and–forth analysis of various designs.

Hayden muttered as he took a quick look at the time, “Never mind, this issue is not urgent. It’s getting late now, do you want to go for lunch? I think a new restaurant has recently opened nearby.”

Gwyneth could not help but interrupt Hayden as he prepared to put on his coat. She said, “Hayden…”

Hayden froze in response to Gwyneth’s sudden seriousness. He then sat back down in his chair and gave Gwyneth a perplexed look. He wondered, “Do you have something to say?”

Gwyneth twitched her brows and turned her attention to the flowers on the table. These had been brought in by Hayden today. It still had yellow and light pink flowers. This made her think back to something Liam had said the other day, and a warm feeling began to fill up

inside of her.

Gwyneth said, “Hayden, actually, I made something clear to you when I was studying abroad, didn’t I?”

“That was years ago,” Hayden responded in his usual tone, but there was a hint of annoyance in his eyes.

“Okay, let me say it again. I only see you as a friend, and you are indeed a good friend.”

She ended their relationship once more, just as she had done before. It was hard for Gwyneth to outright reject someone who was nice to her. She also got the impression that, from that point on. Hayden would never be able to see her as a normal friend.

Gwyneth thought about it as she bit her lip and danced with her fingers. She continued, “Moreover, you know that Liam and I are a married

couple. I’m a married woman now.”

Hayden was clear about this. Given what he knew about Gwyneth, he was certain that she could not have gotten married that quickly after returning from abroad. He had done his investigation. He was unsure of why she got married, but he was certain that there was no love

involved.

Therefore, he never imagined that Gwyneth would reject him because of Liam.

At this point, Hayden’s initial annoyance toward Liam had turned into hatred.

He asked, “So are you saying that you and Liam have a good and loving relationship?”

Gwyneth sighed in her heart as she heard this. She thought that, after years had passed and they had matured a lot, Hayden would have changed. The reality proved that he was still the same.

Gwyneth stated, “Hayden, I consider you a friend. I’m married now, and all you need to do is wish me well.”

Hayden did not say anything else or stay for too long that day. He stared at Gwyneth for a few seconds before walking out of her office.

Gwyneth was both relieved and a little sad about this. She believed that Hayden would temporarily stop showing up in front of her, but she

was wrong again.

After a few calm days, Hayden promptly arrived at her workplace. It was still about the Glacier Lake project, but he was genuinely discussing it this time. Gwyneth thought this was a good start, she did not want to ruin their friendship.

However, her leniency gave Liam a lot of anxiety. He would see Hayden when he picked up Gwyneth from work or occasionally when he drove her to work at noon. This man showed up more frequently than he had imagined.

When he parked the car at the office entrance, he occasionally saw Gwyneth and Hayden together.

The two appeared to be conversing happily as they stood close to one another. To an outsider, it would appear as though they were a

couple.

Liam was unusually quiet when he picked up Gwyneth that evening. Since Liam was usually talkative, Gwyneth found this silence to be a little unsettling. She did not think much of it, assuming that either something was wrong at work or he was simply exhausted.

“If you’re tired, you don’t have to pick me up.” Gwyneth hesitated for a long time before finally saying this. She was genuinely worried

That casual remark was taken to mean something else, Liam understood it differently. He interpreted Gwyneth’s concern as her no longer needing him because she wanted to spend time alone with Hayden. He gritted his teeth and tightened his hold on the steering wheel as

he considered this.

Gwyneth, who was seated in the passenger seat, could feel and see the car speeding up.
