Chapter 125
Chapter 125 Lack of Hospitality
“What’s this man up to right now? Gwyneth wondered to hersell.
She lightly twitched her brow and instinctively reached for the car door handle. She said not a word for the entire trip out of concern that Liam might act irrationally. After all, her life depended on it.
She breathed a sigh of relief when the car finally came to a stop in front of the villa’s entrance.
Both of them got out of the car, with Gwyneth intentionally waiting for Liam. She was a little worried about him when she noticed he was
still depressed.
After they entered the villa, she initially planned to head straight upstairs, but she hesitated a little. Her lips were pursed as she clung to the stairway handrail. She was going to ask Liam what was wrong, but before she could voice her question, he called out to her, “Gwyneth.”
She subconsciously spun on her heels to face him.
He had a somber expression, as if something serious had happened.
“You You what”
Liam went straight to the point, asking. “We signed a contract, and we’re still married, right?”
Liam’s voice carried a strong emotion that was not coldness. Gwyneth was even more perplexed by his response. They had never addressed this issue before, so it felt awkward when he brought it up now. However, this was their reality, and she could not deny it.
Gwyneth pursed her lips before finally nodding.
Liam’s expression softened a little as he saw Gwyneth nod and adopt a submissive demeanor. He hesitated before asking softly, in a tone between a command and a request. “If that’s the case, could you please keep some distance from that guy?”
Gwyneth was astounded when she heard this request. She was speechless as she stared at him.
‘Is my friendship with Hayden the cause of his odd behavior? In short, was he jealous?”
Gwyneth giggled as she noticed Liam’s solemn demeanor. She did not find this irritating, but amusing. She descended the stairs, still wearing an indifferent expression. She explained. “You’ve misunderstood, we’re just business partners.”
She later realized that her simple explanation was not convincing enough for Liam.
Liam had his clear answer, but he was still worried. How could he not be worried about losing a lovely and capable wife like Gwyneth?
As a result, Liam began to make use of their working relationship and frequently went to Gwyneth’s office. More surprisingly, whenever Hayden went there, Liam would arrive a short while later. Liam would just sit in the office, making no offensive remarks or obvious
attempts to obstruct them.
Liam had achieved his goal by doing this. After all, his main objective was to prevent them from being alone together. A few days later, he discovered that Hayden continued to arrive on time each day, rain or shine.
On this particular day, Liam changed his routine. He did not leave after dropping Gwyneth off at the company in the morning.
About an hour later, Hayden showed up as expected. He was surprised to see Liam.
“Good morning, Mr. Hut.” Liam initiated the conversation, and it was somewhat out of character.
Both Gwyneth and Hayden could feel this.
“My wife is a little worn out after finishing a meeting and forgot to offer you coffee. I apologize for the lack of hospitality.”
Gwyneth was working and typing on the keyboard. Hearing Liam’s words, she almost made a mistake by sending a report that was not
ready. She turned her head and looked at them. She saw Liam smiling while Hayden’s expression darkened.
After spending so much time together, they had developed a tacit understanding. Gwyneth clenched her teeth and let out a light chuckle.
Gwyneth thought to herself. This guy is acting more and more like a child. He even made an attempt to show his affection to make Hayden back off. Though foolish, this strategy is the most effective at the moment.”
to not play along now that Liam had made his move. Since she wanted Hayden to give up, she had to let Liam carry on with his plan.
Hayden managed to control his emotions when Liam first referred to Gwyneth as his wife. It hurt him when he saw Gwyneth’s sweet smile filled with love. Hayden could not remember how he left Glen Corporation. He returned to his office, and he sat in his chair with his fist tightly clenched.
Hayden murmured. “If that’s how you want to play, you give me no choice but to retaliate.”
