Chapter 123 Just Friends 

The way things were right now gave Gwyneth a headache. Liam almost drove her to work every day. He always picked her up after she finished work. She subsequently kept the flowers Hayden sent in the office lounge before she went home. 

Although Gwyneth did not consider her actions odd at the time, she did not want Liam to know that Hayden had presented her with so 

many flowers. 

Gwyneth just finished her afternoon meeting on this particular day. There was an hour left before she left work. She figured she would take some time to relax before deciding what she should do next. Someone knocked on the door as soon as she sat down in her chair. 

She initially assumed it was Wanda. Not thinking much about it, she asked her to come in. The person who entered her room turned out to 

be Liam. 

Gwyneth stuttered, “You Why are you here this early?” 

Her eyes were initially half–closed, but at this precise moment, she had opened them wide in surprise. She then noticed the bouquet on 

the table. She stood up subconsciously, and her heart skipped a few beats. 

Liam replied softly, “There’s not much to do at work, so I thought I’d come early and keep you company.” 

His gaze fell on the bouquet as soon as he finished. 

Logically speaking, it was normal for a president’s office to have a bouquet, and Liam did not think much of it. However, Gwyneth’s reaction struck him as odd. She was visibly tense, and she subconsciously made an attempt to hide the flowers. 

Liam sensed there was something fishy going on. Before Gwyneth could respond, he frowned, moved swiftly over, and removed the card from the bouquet. The card was written with some customary good wishes, but Liam clenched his jaw when he saw Hayden’s name at the end of the message. 

‘At first, this man gave the Glacier Lake project to Gwyneth. Later, he took her away to the fishing port. Now, he’s sending flowers to her 

brazenly.’ 

“Liam.” 

Gwyneth noticed Liam’s expression was grave. She called out to him but had no idea what to say. She had a clear conscience but felt uneasy with the circumstances. 

“You—Do you get along with Mr. Hut well?” Liam asked softly as he turned around and held the card in his hand. There was a clear trace 

of anger in his tone. 

Gwyneth explained, “We are just friends. It’s nothing like what you imagine.” 

Gwyneth gave him a quick glance before yanking the card from his grasp and tossing it into the garbage. Although she did not elaborate on it, Liam had to admit that he felt better after seeing Gwyneth’s actions. His envy, however, did not lessen in the slightest. 

Liam analyzed, “Well, it seems like the relationship between you two is something ordinary.” 

Gwyneth was astounded by his reaction. She stared right into Liam’s eyes and wondered what he meant. 

Liam said as he played with a few of the bouquet’s flowers, “Just look at these flowers, and you’ll know. He would be aware that you disliked light pink and yellow flowers if he knew you well.” 

“How did you know?” 

Gwyneth was surprised because she was unable to recall ever telling him about any of this. 

“Every week you would pick flowers from the villa’s garden, but you would never pick the flowers of these two colors to take back to your 

room,” Liam remarked. 

It was an unexpected response. Gwyneth pursed her lips as she struggled to find the right words to express the warm feeling that had filled her heart. 

They returned home after that, and Liam made no further mention of this. Not because he no longer cared, but because he was aware that their relationship had not developed to the point where they could discuss this subject. He was fortunate that Gwyneth was responding 

When Gwyneth recalled Liam’s words, she was unable to resist the urge to smile as she picked flowers in the garden over the weekend. This man’s level of attentiveness surprised her. He paid more attention than she had anticipated. 

Speaking of which, although Hayden had given Gwyneth Glacier Lake’s land, she had no intention of taking on the entire project. Simply put, she did not want to accept a huge favor from Hayden and wanted to keep her distance from him. 

Because of this, Gwyneth discussed a business partnership with Hayden when he paid her another visit at work. It was an uncomplicated and clear collaboration, Gwyneth would oversee the construction, while Hayden would provide the land. Given his eagerness to spend more time with her, Hayden readily agreed with it. 

Their chances of meeting had increased due to Wanda’s secret assistance. 

In fact, since they were presidents, they barely had to get together to decide something. Their assistants could handle it. Hayden insisted 

on appearing in person and wrapped up the matter in a few minutes. After that, he would try to invite Gwyneth to dinner. 

Since they were longtime friends, Gwyneth was able to take it at first, but as the days passed, it became too much for her.
