Chapter 106
Chapter 106 I Regret It
“Were you waiting for me?” Gwyneth inquired as she set her coat on the sofa.
After a full day of running around, even a robot would feel exhausted, never mind her worn–out body and soul. All she wanted to do was return to her room, take a hot bath, and collapse onto her bed.
Given Liam’s response, she was unable to leave right away because he had something to say. She owed him some gratitude because he had urgently come to her rescue today.
“How are you feeling? I didn’t check if you were okay because the fishing port was crowded and chaotic, Liam said as he turned to lace
Gwyneth.
He stared at her, and his eyes were filled with worry.
“I’m fine, really. I don’t even need a band–aid because these are just scratches.” Gwyneth shrugged and spoke in a relaxed tone.
She swallowed the questions, that were on the tip of her tongue, about how Liam had found her and how he was feeling. They seemed
redundant now.
“That’s nice,” said Liam in response.
Gwyneth looked up at Liam after hearing this. He grabbed her wrist when she thought the conversation was over and was about to leave.
He asked, “Gwyneth, how exactly are the two of us doing?”
Gwyneth tilted her head to the side and observed Liam’s expression, which seemed more solemn than usual. She did not quite
understand Liam’s question.
Liam explained, “I suddenly realized that we’re not divorced yet, so…”
Gwyneth abruptly cut him off, “Liam.”
She was not exactly sure what he was going to say, but she was certain that she did not wish to hear it. Gwyneth said matter–of–factly.” Last time when I asked you to sign the papers, you said you needed to look into something, so I gave you time, which has led us to today.”
Gwyneth was unable to ignore Elizabeth or fool herself about her existence. She was not entirely at fault given Elizabeth’s arrogance.
Liam asked. “So, you mean-
Gwyneth answered, “What I mean is, once your investigation is complete, we will stick with our previous agreement and file for divorce.”
The air felt thinner around them as Gwyneth turned to face Liam. Though they had already come to an agreement about this, talking about.
it felt uncomfortable.
“Are you eager to divorce me?”
Liam’s voice possessed a hint of rage.
He was upset when Gwyneth had left with Hayden at the port. Then she came home late, and that man sent her home. He gritted his teeth. and it seemed impossible to talk about this calmly when all of these thoughts began to pile up.
Gwyneth thought Liam’s behavior tonight was out of character. She reminded him, “Mr. Luther, I promised to give you more time, and this was our agreed–upon deadline.”
“So you’re planning to get rid of me and start dating Hayden?” Liam inquired.
“What has this got to do with Hayden?” Gwyneth inquired and was clearly amused by his ridiculousness. Sometimes men could be unreasonable and act absurdly.
“There’s no need to rush into a divorce because I think that the two of us are not bad together.”
Liam lowered his voice a little, perhaps he felt his stance was weak.
“How else do I tell her? That I regretted asking for a divorce?
Liam found it difficult to convey this tactfully.
postponement, and the current refusal to divorce–were made by the Luthers.
Gwyneth confronted him, saying. “Liam, do you know what you’re doing? You don’t want to get divorced, do you? What do you want?”
Liam was aware of his mistake. He continued to stare al Gwyneth before averting his gaze.
Gwyneth roared, “The world already believes that we are divorced. It would be newsworthy if we attended the same event together, and now you don’t want a divorce anymore?”
She was visibly upset, grabbing at her hair in annoyance, and she felt as though her mind was a mess.
At this point, silence filled the room. The awkward silence was broken by a phone ringing. Liam cleared his throat and answered the call. It was Henry.
Henry asked, “Is Gwyneth with you? I don’t have her number.”
“She’s with me,” Liam replied softly, and Gwyneth quickly leaned in.
Henry explained, “The thing is, there’s been an accident with Aubrey. We’re all at the hospital.”
Liam froze when Henry’s raspy voice came from the other end. Liam asked, “What happened?”
When Gwyneth noticed Liam’s grave expression, her heart skipped a beal.
Liam explained, “Henry called. Aubrey’s in the hospital.”
Hearing this, Gwyneth felt her head buzzing. She snatched Liam’s phone right away, and her body was trembling slightly.
