Chapter 105
Chapter 105 There Should Be a Reason
Gwyneth inquired, “Where did you get this?”
Gwyneth was fanatic when it came to hackers. She was obviously thrilled to see the laptop, as evidenced by the sparkle in her eyes.
Her response lifted Hayden’s mood, and he handed her the laptop. He uttered, “You can check it right away. It would be a hassle if the mastermind was smart enough to clean up his tracks online.”
In response. Gwyneth raised an eyebrow at Hayden and said, “If the mastermind was smart enough, they wouldn’t have exposed their real name during the kidnapping exchange.”
Gwyneth turned on the laptop and opened a browser. Then she opened the official website of today’s auction organizer and used a backdoor program to access the complete list of participants.
This was simple for Gwyneth.
Kingsley’s name was conspicuously on the list.
“Well, you are right. This mastermind isn’t very smart,” Hayden said as he leaned against the table.
Hearing this, Gwyneth looked at him, and the two exchanged a smile. After that, she continued to look into the matter and investigated
Kingsley’s background.
In a short time, Gwyneth learned almost everything there was to know about Kingsley, from his ancestors to his personal history and life
events. After reviewing everything, she became even more puzzled.
Sensing Gwyneth’s confusion, Hayden inquired quickly, “What’s wrong?”
“His background and identity all match up, but it makes me even more confused as to why he would want to kidnap me,” Gwyneth said.
After all, there did not seem to be any relationship between the two of them. Gwyneth frowned as she tapped her fingers on the table. She
found the entire incident odd.
Hayden advised, “Keep going. Surely we will find the answer to this now that we know who he is.”
Gwyneth’s heart fluttered at Hayden’s slightly icy tone. She gave a silent nod and followed him out of the basement after wiping their digital tracks clean.
By this time, the sky had gone completely dark outside. Hayden suggested, “It’s getting dark, so maybe…”
Gwyneth replied, “I have things to take care of tomorrow. I think it’s inconvenient for me to stay here.”
Gwyneth was firm. Before Hayden could finish, she abruptly cut him off, leaving no room for compromise.
Hayden was well aware of Gwyneth’s nature and his forced love was short–lived. He was aware that not all issues could be resolved in a day or two. He offered, “At least let me take you home, calling a cab at this time to this location is difficult.”
In light of the situation, Gwyneth no longer refused Hayden. The area was populated by villas and small estates, and cabs rarely came to this area. She did not wish to walk far with Wanda because she was already worn out.
They left the estate and dropped Wanda off at her apartment before heading to Luther residence.
Since returning home, Liam had randomly eaten something and sat on the living room couch. He could not get rid of the image of Gwyneth leaving with another man. He was deep in thought when he heard a car horn outside.
Liam jumped to his feet and instinctively dashed to the window.
He was able to see the gate from where he was standing. He saw Hayden pull over at the gate and help Gwyneth out of the car. They were conversing and seemed to get along well.
When viewed from the side. Liam’s angular face appeared cold as he gritted his teeth. He had the impression that an oppressed aura was trapped inside his chest, but he was unable to vent it out. He felt victimized, but he was powerless to do anything about it. What could he possibly say?
Technically, he and Gwyneth were still legally married, but he could not persuade himself that this was a valid argument. After all, they had
“Damn it!” Liam cursed under his breath.
He had never experienced this feeling before and was unsure of how to handle the situation.
He was thinking about something when Gwyneth walked into the villa.
She assumed there was nobody because the living room lights were off. That was until she saw Liam.
This man was obviously suppressing his emotions as he stood by the window and stared coldly at her.
She had never seen Liam like this before, and it intrigued her. She might have been overly sensitive due to the events earlier, or it could
have just been her imagination. Somehow, his expression looked like he was ready to interrogate her.
