Chapter 104
Chapter 104 The Center of Attention
When Hayden noticed Gwyneth suddenly lost in thought, he quickly changed the subject and said, “Alright, we should drop this topic while we’re having our meal”
He got up to refill the wine. He took care of everything for Gwyneth, from setting the table to changing cutlery and placing napkins. The servants who were supposed to serve them were unable to step in as Hayden had personally completed all of these tasks.
Meanwhile, Wanda was quietly eating her meal by the side. She seemed to be at ease.
Hayden had been away for years and seldom interacted with the servants, but this was the first time he had brought a woman home and took such good care of her.
When this happened, the servants could sense something. They exchanged glances and seemed to understand the situation. The moment Hayden called them to start preparing dinner when Gwyneth entered the estate was when they understood everything.
Fearing they might mistreat Gwyneth, they all stood nearby, even though Hayden did not require their assistance.
Dinner ended quicker than expected. First, because Gwyneth had no appetite after the chaos earlier today. And second, because eating in front of so many people made even the most delectable food taste bland.
“Are you done?”
Noticing Hayden looking at her with concern, Gwyneth softly giggled as she wiped her mouth. She replied. “Yeah. The weather is nice, we should go for a walk around the estate.”
Hayden grabbed her hand before Gwyneth could object. Despite her slight frown, Gwyneth followed him without making an effort to resist.
The scenery was exceptionally beautiful. As they walked on the lawn and took in the view, Gwyneth could not help but smile. She closed her eyes lightly as she relished the sensation of being surrounded by nature.
‘I had no idea this city had such a beautiful spot” Gwyneth remarked.
Hayden’s soft voice could be heard saying, “I found this place by chance and thought you would like it.”
Gwyneth opened her eyes and glanced at the man.
Hayden continued, “This place is isolated, but if you like it, you can come here frequently. I would love to have you.”
“There are so many things on my plate right now that I can’t rest, even if I wanted to.” Gwyneth replied to his somber gaze with a gentle.
smile.
Hayden abruptly changed the subject, saying. “When you were overseas, you were the same.”
Gwyneth was stunned, obviously not understanding what he meant.
Hayden elaborated, “I suppose many major companies would have sought you out, and you would have been super busy if you weren’t so
inconspicuous back then.”
When Gwyneth heard this, her mind began to wander back to her time spent living abroad.
She had an obsession with hacking at the time. Many of her classmates could not even remember her name because she kept a low
profile and would never speak up.
When their institute’s research results had been stolen, everyone was furious but powerless to do anything about it. Gwyneth had used her hacking skills to investigate the theft. This incident made her well known throughout the school. Her skills and reputation were no
longer secrets.
When things calmed down and she received all the invitations and honors, everyone assumed Gwyneth would take advantage of the
chance to work for an established company. She declined all the offers to everyone’s surprise.
Her reason was simple. She was not turning them down because of the pay or the company. She just did not want to be employed. Gwyneth disliked complications and chose to return to her low–profile status.
Gwyneth made this decision because she disliked complications. The only difference was that, despite her desire to remain unnoticed,
others would no longer be able to ignore her.

Returning to the present, the night grew darker, but Gwyneth’s eyes were still glistening brilliantly. She was unaware of Hayden’s subtle smile because of how slight it was. He was somewhat emotional.
The two were exploring the estate when they came across an underground entrance.
“Is this the basement?” Gwyneth inquired.
Hayden nodded before guiding Gwyneth slowly down the stairs.
Instead of being the typical, dark place one would expect, this basement was exquisitely decorated. There was a lounge, an office, and
wine racks.
Hayden said, “I need to show you something.”
When she heard this, Gwyneth, who was admiring the wine collection, swiftly circled around. She saw Hayden removing a brand–new,
silver laptop from a password–locked box.
