Chapter Until the Games
"So, who's going first on trying out their new forms?" Alpha Jace asked with a chuckle.
Alpha Nolan replied, "Asker volunteers."
"As fun as seeing everyone enjoying their new abilities would be." Eugene stated, "I have to tell you what brought me here in the first place."
Everyone turned their attention to him.
"Grace's parents returned from their trip here, and started calling you an Anti-Luna." He announced grimly.
I laughed. "As if the position is worth falsifying."
"I was hearing talk amongst the werewolves, just before I arrived around the campfire, that the council has discovered a mistake in the translation of the prophecy of the Silver Luna, and that it's actually a warning against her, and the destruction she'll bring to the Wolves." Sammy Sam volunteered.
"There's dissention on both sides!" Grace pointed out, and then asked, "Where do we rush to first?"
"Depends on which lie you think is worse." Aaron said quietly.
Sammy Sam exclaims, "People tend to believe the version of the story they hear first."
"Nowhere." Alpha Nolan replied, "Who wants someone on their side that can be swayed so easily?"
I declared, "My husband is correct. God had an army of a hundred rather than have a single useless soldier in the Bible, and we will have the same attitude. We will not beg for anyone to join us, for you have to choose to serve God, not be swayed into it."
"Since going outside risks showing off our new abilities." Cousin Richard suggested, "Maybe we can go in the basement. Shifters can check out their new forms, and Hunters can try their new abilities."
"Bathrobes for everyone, for after and between shifts." I blurted.
My Bro pointed out, "The Angel did indicate the Hunters' new abilities would cause normal clothes to have problems."
"And even Wolf Wear won't work with the multiple forms." Grace observed.
Cousin Richard nodded his head and went to a supply closet to pull out a robe for everyone. "Remember to untie the belt, and pull your arms out of the sleeves before you change, so it will act like a blanket." He stated like an order.
I couldn't help myself, I replied, "Yes, supply sergeant."
Everyone laughed.
We separated to change, and met in the basement. The last person arriving after fifteen minutes.
For a moment we stood around awkwardly until Grace pushed Alpha Jace into the center. "Your eagle probably can't fly in here, but let's see it anyway."
Jace stood there like it was his idea to be there. Then he undid the belt and pulled his arms in one at a time, so everything stayed covered. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and started shaking suddenly he had a wolf nose, human eyes, and feathers everywhere.
"Calm down." I instructed as I stepped forward and asked, "Were you trying to compare it to turning into your wolf?"
He nodded the monstrosity that was currently being called his head.
"This is a new form. Block out your other forms and think about the attributes of the eagle that made you pick it, and imagine they embody you." I said in what I hoped was a calm soothing voice.
Jace listened and a few flutters later a bald eagle, about twice the size of a normal one, stood before us, draped in a white robe. "I did it!" His voice boomed in our heads.
Jace turned back into his human form, and joined the circle as he tied the belt of his robe. Alpha Nolan went next. His Kodiak Bear big and beautiful.
I was about to take my turn when the doorbell rang, and we all raced upstairs. Alpha Nolan beat me to the door by a few seconds, he whips it open as I crash into him.
She looks at us, ignoring the crowd behind us. "I renounce all ties to my pack, and request to join your posse." She announced without pause or doubt.
We answered together, "We gladly accept you into our posse."
Jasmine pointed at two large, wheeled, suit cases. "I trust some men can bring these in." She stated before stepping into the cabin. Eugene and Aaron each grabbed one.
Jasmine stood in the open area, and indicated for the suitcases to be placed on each side of her. She clicked the locks and they popped open, outfits flowed everywhere. She started grabbing at them frantically, and handing outfits to the person they were made for. One moment there was Jasmine, human looking tailor, the next an octopus tentacle was handing you a bag of clothes.
"Well, I guess we know your second form." Alpha Nolan teased as he took his bag.
As soon as everyone present had a set of clothes she returned to her human form. "That was exhilarating!" She announced.
"Good thing you decided to wear your new clothes over here." Anna pointed out before laughing at the idea of the alternative.
Everyone changed into their new clothes and got rid of the robes.
The rest of the evening was spent enjoying getting comfortable with our new abilities without worrying about ending up naked in front of everyone.
Even as we enjoyed ourselves we knew this was the calm before the storms closed in.
