The Rogue Alpha

Chapter Explanations

I found myself searching for the right words, finally landing on, "When have we met?"

"When the Devil first tried to break you." The man-like figure replied, "The one true God sent me to you with an important message."

"That I was going to be okay, and God loves me and is watching over me." I volunteered.

The light shining from him dulled. He smiled the gentlest smile and the room filled with comfort. "There was more, but your young mind only held onto the important part."

"Define young." I joked.

He looked around the room. "Someone is missing. Oh right, she won't cross the border again." He blinked his eyes and Sammy Sam appears. Then he looked at me and winked before he whispered, "The blink is for show."

We no longer felt overwhelmed by his power, but instead felt impowered by it. "Let's try a more comfortable setting."

Suddenly we're sitting in a circle, around a campfire that held no heat. The Angel in the place of the campfire councilor. Mates were seated next to each other. I had my Alpha to my right, and my Beta Bro to my left and his Sammy Sam was to his left. Other than that I didn't note the order because the Angel started talking and I turned my attention to him.

"Before we can talk about the future, we have to first talk about the distant past." He points at the fire. We all look. As he continues talking the scenes dance before our eyes above the flames that hold no heat, yet comfort better than a fire ever could.

"After the world was cursed to many languages for their attempts to build stairs to Heaven: Demons took advantage of the situation and started making false religions and histories to the major events of the world. Each Demon or Group of Demons, picked a language and influenced them to worship what they saw before them, rather than the God that cursed them."

"I always wondered how they came to be." I stated quietly, barely hearing myself.

"God's response was to create two armies to battle the Demons posing as gods. One he blessed with the ability to shift into any animal. The other was blessed with the ability to hunt any prey it chose." The Angel continued to speak as the scene continued to play. "They were meant to work as a team, to eliminate the false gods. When the armies started killing the Demons two of them formed a plan."

"The moon and sun gods." Luna Melinda offered.

The Angel nodded his head. "The moon demon convinced the shifters to believe that it had created them. And the Sun Demon convinced the Hunters that they had been chosen and blessed by him to Hunt the Shifters."

We saw each army now fighting each other as their new gods stood over them.

"The one true God cursed the shifters to only one animal form. The heart of each chose in an instant the animal form it would keep."

We watched the Shifters split in form as man had split in language.

"Hunters likewise had to specialize, and broke into units based on their preference."

"That's why we have to choose?" Eugene exclaimed.

The Angel nodded and continued, "They were cursed to fight each other with neither side winning until they could be united as one army for the Lord."

He paused as an image of me in a battle gear that morphed with my shape change, and could completely camouflage or take any color of my choosing. I stared stunned.

"So, this is where we're at now?" Alpha Nolan inquired.

"In the very near future." The Angel corrected. "The tailor is being inspired as we speak."

Cousin Richard asked, "What about those of us who don't shift forms?"

"The armor will still be beneficial." The Angel informed him, "And Hunters who join the Posse will notice a new blessing of being able to call on abilities of animals while mostly retaining human form. Shifters will gain additional forms getting their second almost immediately after joining. Afterwards it's random as to when a shifter will gain additional forms."

Alpha Nolan showed a Kodiak Bear with a spot of silver on his head. I showed a silver horse, with a black diamond on my forehead. "The two of you will always show a spot of the others soul, no matter what form you're in." The Angel informed us.

My Bro chose a jack rabbit and Sammy Sam chose a beaver. Of course they were giants compared to the animal counterparts, and when they're the size of a normal wolf, they're quite scary creatures.

Alpha Jace showed a bald eagle as his second form. Aaron showed an alligator, while Anna chose an elephant. Alpha Mike chose a black panther, and Luna Melinda a white tiger.

In the fire we saw Luna Shelly's choice of a kangaroo. Then the show stopped.

"What everyone chooses isn't what matters." The Angel pointed out. "Much like the human servants will have those who join them for the wrong reasons, so many will join you. However, you must treat everyone as if they are with you for the right reasons, because God has a purpose for everyone he brings to you."

My Bro inquired, "How will we organize everyone?"

"They will naturally find their niche and the flow will be automatic." The Angel informed us, "Those who are called will be drawn to find you, and by you I mean anyone in this circle, to pledge their allegiance to the Luna Demon Hunter and her Rogue Alpha, once you accept them they'll receive their gifts. The boundaries will no longer effect members of the Posse."

"Do you mean when the Posse is made official?" Anna asked.

"God has decreed the Demon Hunter Posse, and the mates official, but your enemies won't be able to sense them until the time to reveal."

Aaron inquired, "Why is this happening now?"

The Angel lifted his arm to indicate me. "The Luna Demon Hunter has passed all her tests. She protected the weak. She gave appropriate punishment when needed. She stood against tyranny, even when it meant standing alone. She stayed true to her mate, even when offered another option. Which will no longer be a problem. She treated everyone fairly and favored neither side of her army. She leads, while still respecting her mate. Most importantly, she knowswho she serves, and isn't afraidtosay it, even when being silent would be easier."

Alpha Nolan grabbed my hand.

The Angel turned his attention to him. "You are being blessed with the ability to lead, both on the battlefield and in the home and posse. You will be undefeated until your time comes."

I felt Alpha Nolan's compulsion, he couldn't keep from saying, "When will I die?"

The Angel answered, "Not for many years, and when you do, you will choose your death with honor and good reason."

Alpha Mike asked, "How will we know what Demons to fight?"

The Angel explained, "You can't defeat those who are meant to reign, anyone who tries will fail. Those meant to be destroyed will usually attack you. However, some you will feel compelled to find."

"Will we all be undefeated, or just the Alpha of the Posse?" Alpha Jace asked nervously.

"You will have losses, you're not unkillable, and the Demons won't be easy." The Angel stated, "But, you will make a serious dent in the chaos and misery of the world by accepting your part in it."

Grace asked, "Will we have children?"

"Many will, this war is going to take a while." He replied gently.

"What happens to the Wolves and Hunters who don't join the Posse?" Luna Melinda inquired.

"That's up to them." The Angel answered, "But most will join the armies of enemies, and hate you for having what they don't have, but refusing to make the choices that would give them the same blessings."

Eugene asked, "When will the blessings kick in for those of us here?"

"The moment I leave your presence." The Angel informed him.

"Where will we live?" Sammy Sam inquired.

The Angel smiled and replied, "That's for you to decide. Hopefully you listen to your calling, for where God wants you, but there's no one place to battle Demons. You still make those kinds of choices for yourself. The only difference is you acknowledge God is your boss."

I laughed, everyone stared at me. "He's everyone's boss, some workers make him happy, and others make him angry. But he's still there even if we try to deny him."

"How long do we have until our first Demon battle?" I inquired with a sigh.

"Less time than you want, but more than you need." He answered, "Don't worry about the details, just keep being ready to serve."

Then the Angel and the campfire were gone, and we were back in the cabin, spread out between the living room and dining room. Sammy Sam was still with us, proof that what we seen had indeed happened.
