The Rogue Alpha

Chapter Schedule Changes

When I went to bed Alpha Nolan left, Richard and my Bro went to their rooms. I relaxed a bit knowing that Richard was okay with us inviting Sammy Sam, and only her, over to the cabin.

The next morning I rose to my bro knocking on my door and yelling, "If you don't get up soon you'll be late for training, and trust me, you need it."

I groaned, but got up. I changed quickly and threw the door open. "Fine, let's go. Got anything to eat?"

He handed me a bag with homemade egg, bacon, sausage and cheese on English muffin breakfast sandwiches. "Eat these on the way."

"And drinks?" I replied.

He handed me a green thermos. "Hot chocolate for you." He raised up a blue thermos in his other hand. "Coffee for me. Don't mix them up, or we'll both be sick."

We rushed to his car and drove to town. I handed him his sandwiches, or thermos, as needed, between my own bites and guzzles. By the time we got there I had eaten seven of the twelve sandwiches we brought. He was finishing his fourth. I handed him the last sandwich and his thermos.

Then I told him, "Don't even think about driving by yourself until you've finished your breakfast."

He laughed and took the sandwich with a nod.

I went inside the female training center, watching for flying objects as I entered. Verge was sitting on the counter, looking rather unhappy.

"Ready for training." I stated.

She must have taken it as a question. She shook her head and informed me, "Luna Eleanor has forbidden me to train you. You have to leave."

I nodded my head. "I understand, and I don't hold this against you."

Then I turned and rushed out the door, hoping my bro hadn't finished eating yet. He was chugging some coffee when I opened his passenger door.

He turned to me, surprise evident in his eyes. "Forget something?" He asked.

I shook my head and sat down. As I closed the door I told him what Verge had told me.

My Bro gritted his teeth. "She's trying to sabotage you. You're already at a disadvantage. Most wolves transform for the first time in their early teens, and start preparing for the mating games shortly after."

I shrugged my shoulders. "Let's go back to the cabin. I'm tired of fighting her."

My Bro sighed. "I'm picking up Sammy Sam first, maybe she can help us think of something."

We went to the restaurant we first met her at. Her dad informed us that she had the day off and was probably at the hotel, hanging out with her best friend. So, we drove there. We went in and found her. I asked her to come with us, and she promptly agreed. She gave her friend a hug, and we left.

I climbed in the back seat. She looked at me funny. "Are you taking shotgun?" I asked.

"You're the Luna." She replied.

I stated, "But you're the mate."

She nodded her head, said, "Thanks." And got in.

On our way back to the cabin my Bro informed her about everything that had occurred since they had last spoke.

When we pulled into the driveway we felt the familiar pain. We'd gotten used to it, it barely bothered us anymore. But poor Samantha had never crossed the Hunt City border before. She screamed out in agony and doubled over.

"What was that?" She gasped as the car came to a stop.

"The border line." My Bro replied.

"You go through that pain every time you come back here?" She asked incredulously.

I volunteered, "Or leave."

She shook her head and declared, "No offense, but this will probably be my only visit here then."

My Bro explained, "We've gotten so used to it that I forgot to warm you."

"How can you get used to that?" She asked as she finally caught her breath.

"Same way you get used to anything." I replied, "Just accept, and deal with it."

She stared at me. I couldn't tell if she was astonished or disgusted by what I said.

I smiled and told them, "I'll see you inside."

Cousin Richard was just finishing his own breakfast. I snatched a spare piece of bacon off the serving platter and told him how my day was going so far.

"Too bad for them: you're also a Hunter." Richard stated.

"What's that got to do with anything?" I asked as my Bro and Sammy Sam entered.

Richard explained, "Hunter and werewolf training are very similar. It's all about agility and reflexes, along with a show of strength and stamina."

Sammy Sam said, "He's right. That's what all my training has been like."

My Bro introduced cousin Richard and Sammy Sam.

Alpha Nolan showed up a few minutes later and was also introduced to her.

Cousin Richard admitted, "I could get into a lot of trouble for knowingly bringing four werewolves into the training area, but my junior cousin needs us all."

"I wouldn't mind freshening my skills a bit either." Alpha Nolan stated, "It's been many years since I've done a competition."

Cousin Richard led us into the secret basement and then to another secret door that led into a massive training area.

Sammy Sam smiled and took her wolf form. It was my first time seeing her wolf. She has white hair, and still has blue eyes, that shine a bit brighter. She was beautiful, and I didn't mind telling her so.

Then I changed into my wolf, and the guys followed suit. Cousin Richard was left as the only human. While we could understand him just fine, we had to use body language, or switch back to communicate. I could switch only my vocal cords, so I talked the most.

Training sounds fun and exciting, but reality is not as entertaining. Dodging boulders, and trees, while trying to catch an object, or wrestling around with weapons flying at you, isn't a pleasant experience. Once the adrenaline wears off it's exhausting.

But we managed to train for four hours before Luna Shelly called me to see if I was coming to the beach.

"For what?" I asked.

She replied, "The meet the Alphas and Luna's event we've been planning."

"I didn't realize we were doing that today." I admitted, "But we'll be there in a little while."
