Chapter 45
Chapter 45
Randall Reeves suppressed Christine Paul with one hand and displayed the transfer messages on his cell phone with the
other.
He looked her in the eye and said, “Each transfer was 20 million dollars, and there were ten transfers, totaling 200 million dollars. Was it a coincidence that it’s the same amount as the betrothal gifts I promised you?”
Christine rolled her eyes in frustration, furious that Randall accused her of something she did not do.
*Randall Reeves, where did that come from? Are you trying to scam me? I don’t know what betrothal gifts you’re talking about. You must have been mistaken. I don’t know you that well to discuss marriage, let alone betrothal gifts”
Randall’s face darkened, wondering how long Christine intended to pretend.
He then leaned over and whispered into her car in an ambiguous tone.
“You’re such a forgetful woman. Do you need help to recall, Dr. Nancy?”
Christine’s heart trembled when she heard Randall calling her Nancy. She realized that bastard had already figured out her true identity
“Yes, I’m Nancy. But I didn’t transfer 200 million dollars from you!” Christine exclaimed defensively.
Randall gently touched the strand of hair on her forehead and said devilishly. “Woman, you tried to attract my attention with multiple identities. I know you are Nancy as well as Skyy.”
What did Skyy have to do with all this?
Christine was at a loss; Randall lifted her chin slightly and looked into her eyes again.
“Skyy hacked Reeves Group and transferred 200 million dollars. Do you deny you are Skyy?”
Seriously? Skyy hacked someone else’s system and transferred 200 million dollars. Christine was shocked and furious.
How dared he fool his mother, that little brat?
Christine was hopping mad, trying hard to control herself. However, she could not expose Skyy. She intended to disassociate herself from Skyy instead.
Christine suppressed her anger and smiled at Randall.
“Mr. Reeves, when was your company’s system hacked?”
“This morning.”
Christine chuckled. “I’m sorry to hear that, but I was at the hospital all day today. Hundreds of patients can be I’m so busy that I don’t have time to go to the toilet. Where did I find time to hack your company’s system?”
Randall stared at Christine with a burning gaze. The latter looked him straight in the eye without fear. She did not look like she lied.
my
witnesses.
Perhaps she was not Skyy after all. Then who transferred 200 million dollars from Reeves Group?
“Ill investigate if you told the truth,” Randall backed down.
“Thank you so very much!” said Christine sarcastically.
She then did a quick once over on Randall and said indifferently, “Can you let go of me now?”
Christine narrowed her eyes and looked at him coldly, without fear whatsoever.
Randall suppressed his mixed emotion and reluctantly let go of her.
Christine adjusted her clothes that Randall had messed up, turned around, and walked into the living room.
Randall followed her without another word.
Inside the house, the three children were in the middle of an intense game; the atmosphere was tense.
Milo shouted indignantly, “Brother won again this time. Why am I always at the bottom? Am I the proverbial doormat, huh? I’m so not convinced!”
The trio’s speed in solving the number puzzle was on par, especially between Oliver and Lindsay. The time difference was only 0.1 seconds; therefore, they were both winners by coincidence.
Milo, on the other hand, was always the last one in every game.
He was so angry his face looked like a pufferfish.
Lindsay smiled like a blossoming flower when she saw Milo looking like a pufferfish. Her laughter was bright, charming, and infectious; it warmed up the whole room.
Chapter 45
Randall was stunned to hear his daughter laugh happily for the first time.
Lindsay had never been so happy beside him since she was young.
When Milo heard Lindsay laugh, he stared at her curiously, saying, “Wow, so you laugh too, Little Tail Your laughter sounds wonderful
Lindsay was embarrassed by Milo’s compliment.
Her little face instantly blushed, she looked like an adorable baby doll.
Christine gently pulled Lindsay into her arms and said encouragingly. “Lindsay’s laughter is charming. You look good when. you smile, darling girl. Promise me that you’ll smile more in the future, okay?”
Lindsay smiled and nodded shyly; her eyes were like crescent moons.
Realizing the boys and their mother liked her smile, she made a note to smile more in the future.
Christine stroked Lindsay’s soft, long hair. Lindsay’s smile meant her condition had improved.
Christine thought it best to let her sons play with Lindsay more often, it would benefit her illness.
“Her daddy’s here.”
Oliver’s icy remark broke the harmomous and happy atmosphere. The air around them suddenly became suffocating.
Randall looked at the little boy before him, who looked like a miniature version of himself. Oliver had always been hostile to
him, and he made no excuse about it.
Lindsay looked up and saw her father; her face instantly darkened.
She had a good time playing with the boys just now.
She had never had such fun before, but her father showed up.
“Come here, Lindsay, Randall said in a deep voice.
He was upset about Lindsay sneaking out of the house again.
Lindsay’s curly eyelashes fluttered, but she refused to step forward.
She did not want to leave Christine and the boys.
“Come over right now, Lindsay. Don’t make me say it a second time.”
Randall’s voice became deeper.
Milo stood between Randall and Lindsay with a grudge. “Don’t think you can be fierce to her just because you’re her daddy. Everyone is equal. You cannot be fierce to her!” he said matter–of–factly.
Randall did not expect the little boy to come to Lindsay’s rescue.
No one had ever dared to comment on his behavior.
Randall thought Milo was an interesting little boy.
Christine hugged Lindsay and said, “Lindsay darling, don’t be afraid. Auntie and your little brothers are behind you.”
Randall was instantly stunned.
Did he suddenly become the bad guy in the room? He was just a little harsh in tone.
Although Randall admitted he was not a good man, it was the first time everyone had targeted him.
Lindsay felt warm knowing Christine and the boys were protective of her.
“Lindsay, go home with Daddy!”
Lindsay hugged Christine, reluctant to say goodbye. She craved Christine’s embrace and did not want to leave.
Christine explained patiently. “Lindsay, Milo had already taught your daddy a lesson. But you must understand you can’t come out alone without your daddy’s permission in the future. It is very dangerous. Your daddy is angry because he’s worried about you”
Lindsay nodded. She knew that Randall did not mean to be fierce to her. Her daddy doted on her often, but she still liked Christine better. She reminded her of her mommy.
“Lindsay, go back with your daddy now. The boys will see you at the kindergarten and play with you again tomorrow.”
Lindsay nodded obediently, but she did not move an inch.
“Mominy, it looks like Little Tail doesn’t want to leave. Why don’t we have dinner together before she goes back?”
Milo noticed Lindsay refused to leave. He had fun playing with her just now was was reluctant to see her go.
Chapter 45
Christine told Lindsay gently. “Lindsay, why don’t you stay for dinner with us? Auntie will send you back after that, okay?”
Lindsay smiled like a flower when she heard that. She nodded vigorously.
Happiness was written all over her face.
Christinel’s eyes curved into crescents, and smiled warmly, knowing that Lindsay was happy.
However, when she saw Randall, her smile instantly froze. “Mr. Reeves, Lindsay will stay at our house for dinner. You can go back now,” she said stiffly.
Christine’s gaze was chillingly cold as if she was disgusted by him.
Randall was amused, wondering why everyone in the room despised him so much.
“I want to stay too!” he said.
Christine could not believe her ears.
She wondered if she was not straightforward enough when she told him to leave.
Did he not understand that he was not welcome?
“Mr. Reeves, I didn’t cook much. I won’t invite you to stay for dinner. Why don’t you go home for dinner instead?”
Randall said calmly, ‘I don’t mind staying”
Christine was about to go crazy. Even though he did not mind, she did.
No one would behave so shamelessly to stay at someone else’s house for dinner.
